Ironic to me that u found chicago Steppin' to be an "equalizer" for u. YOUR approach is what I expected when I started steppin, but IN CHICAGO, I find it more cliquish & competitive with the pure joy of dancing squeezed out instead (which is what I think made it difficult to go Nat'l).
YOUR attitude towards it is the thing that will give Steppin' the room it needed to branch out.
PS: I had my own near-death experience a couple months ago, so I can personally relate to your loss.
