I saw a sale of 17 SpectrAlert Advances on eBay once. Whoever bought those could just wire them all together into the smoke detector, and then, the kid is awake.
The voice smoke alarms that were seen in that video about the smoke alarms is now on the market. It is called the RadioShack KidSmart. It's also called a SignalONE voice smoke alarm.
You should get an alarm with the squealer horn instead because it's frequency is much lower than the alarm shown and that will usually do the trick!
