@gersdogg If you'll do a quick search for the Pew Research religion literacy quiz you'll find that atheist know FAR more about Christianity than Christians do. Many atheists came from religious backgrounds and many of those studied other religions before settling on atheism. You'll find that there's a disappointing number of American Christians who believe Sodom and Gomorrah were people and that Noah's wife was Joan of Arc. I know many, many Christians who do not or have not read the Bible.

Now I do agree that ID is not science, but she didn't present a well thought out argument against it. Kirk didn't really say anything relevant to the debate. He simply just gave a testimony which is like Ray's argument meaning it is only good if one already believes. He didn't address any issues just appealed to the emotions of the audience. All four of them made statements in the debate which only work if you already embrace the worldview you are presenting. There was no compelling statements made just competing views. It didn't take the direction I think would have been more productive.

Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 are exactly the same. Exodus 34 explains how God commands Moses to chisel the commandments into the stone tablets. she says that there are different versions of the ten commandments but the commandments never change.

Just how science cannot explain the origin of things, religion cannot explain any of her questions. IMO, if God is truth, then science belongs to God because science always tries to show the truth. The moon and the earth orbit each other. If the moon orbit doubled back on itself it would fall into the sun. So even if the moon was really close to the earth nothing would happen. And double check your math.

I have looked at the fossils and the fact that we are Primates. I have studied Natural Selection and watched animals fill their nitch in the wild. In other words, the process of evolution is a fact. There is a Theory of Evolution that shows how it works.

@jimmmmybrady The way they figure out that the moon was moving away from the earth was by measuring the thickness of tidal deposits preserved in rocks that are 900 million years old. By comparing it to newer readings they establish the 4cm rate. If god is how the bible says he is then hes got mayor issues . But if god created the universe then I am sure he would understand why some people have a hard time believing ancient fairy tales that fail to give him the credit he deserves.

@gersdogg If you'll do a quick search for the Pew Research religion literacy quiz you'll find that atheist know FAR more about Christianity than Christians do. Many atheists came from religious backgrounds and many of those studied other religions before settling on atheism. You'll find that there's a disappointing number of American Christians who believe Sodom and Gomorrah were people and that Noah's wife was Joan of Arc. I know many, many Christians who do not or have not read the Bible.

@weholdparties i have witnessed this first hand. i come from a very religious family and am now an agnostic atheist. i have learned that the majority of christians who say " i believe the bible" have not only not read it, but the interpretations of the scriptures that they have only heard differ from preacher to preacher. I think Penn from Penn and Teller once said "nothing will make you an atheist faster than reading the damn bible" and i can say from experience... he was absolutely correct.

He also, with the blessing of the pope, sanctioned the overseeing by the catholic priesthood of probably one of the most barbaric crimes against Humanity in the former Yugoslavia - look it up. They force their priests to be celibate which leads to child molestation. Protestant priests who stick to what the Bible says on the other hand are allowed to marry if they cannot cope with celibacy. Hitler's relationship with the Catholic Church was very unstable. Hitler's policy of euthanasia had to be banned because of Catholic interference.

What the woman said about the idea of Hitler being in Heaven being unfair is very hypocritical. According to the atheist worldview, when Hitler quickly killed himself, that was it! No punishment afterwards. That is not fair at all! Even if he is in Heaven, that would mean that he admitted he was wrong and that God is right and therefore did not get away with his crimes.

In a nutshell, Ray Comfort presented a false dichotomy based on a fictitious conflict between science and faith, plus he used the 10 Commandments which only works since he already believes it. Sapient, didn't address any points regarding Ray's arguments, he just simply repeated Ray's statements and then went with "haha you're wrong" and more or less was advertising his worldview. (more)

Now I do agree that ID is not science, but she didn't present a well thought out argument against it. Kirk didn't really say anything relevant to the debate. He simply just gave a testimony which is like Ray's argument meaning it is only good if one already believes. He didn't address any issues just appealed to the emotions of the audience. All four of them made statements in the debate which only work if you already embrace the worldview you are presenting. There was no compelling statements made just competing views. It didn't take the direction I think would have been more productive.

Matter is subject to corruption. A true "God" would be omnipotent and not incorruptible. If you think about it, a God who is subject to the elements of a carnal body in the eternal capacity cannot be a true God. If you were asking for evidence of my "claim" God is spirit, then the evidence I give is of biblical context. I have no more scientific proof than you hold contrary.

The reason God is "exempt" from needing a cause, is because unlike the rudiments of the universe, God is not composed of matter. Her argument is based on the idea that all created (matter) things need to be created (including her misunderstanding of God)

Yes, they mostly touched on the ten commandments which should be a secondary argument, but these athiests use scarecrow arguments.

Indeed God IS the first cause. God IS exempt from ordinary logic and rational exestence as we know it. This is why God is by definition is God. If it could be proven scientifically it would by definition not be God because God is an idea based on faith! Why can't these fundies understand that?!
