At last! Someone who isn't screaming about how Sean Connery was the best Bond! I fully agree with you. Those Bond films back in the past were good, but they had too many cheesy villains. Casino Royale was a true great, and you explained why it was perfectly.
Actually I think he was/is the best Bond, saying it coldly just proves it. He didn't need to be over the top silly, making us smile type of agent...Daniel Craig did it right, just enough sexiness, strength, smarts and brovado.
Talk About saving the Best Line for Last, when i saw this in theatres everyone else cheered and appauded after Craig Delivered the famous Bond Catchphrase.
Literally the scene that saved Casino Royale for me. Up to this point, I was thinking they had thrown the baby out with the bathwater in the reboot, since he never said "Bond. James Bond" and they didn't play the theme.
Soon as I saw this, though, it hit me that the reason was just because he may have been Agent 007, he wasn't THE 007 until that moment. It's the little things, really.

Remember when Bond and Vesper checked in the hotel, the receptionist asked Bond his name? I thought he was going to use his trademark intro there. When Bond and Le Chiffre first met, Le Chiffre asked if his name is Beech or Bond? Again I thought he was going to say it. Finally he said it at the end. I waited for that the whole movie.
ALL the other films were a continuity... if it wasn't, how do you explain the rocket pack from Thunderball and Rosa Klebb's shoe out of From Russia With Love BOTH appearing in Die Another Day... perhaps everyone else should try explaining this before they argue with you, only problem with your agument is he wasn't only mid 30's, he was 30's/40's/50's (look at Roger Moore when he finished)

I dunno...every Bond movie is kind of a reboot, isn't it? There's no such thing as continuity within the Bond universe, so it has always confused me when people fight over it. I mean, if you want to talk about continuity problems, how about the whole thing where James Bond is still young despite appearing in movies for forty-eight years?
Love the ending. The implied malice is great. You just know he is going to take some sadistic pleasure in making Mr. White die ... slowly. A very different Bond. I rather enjoy the Daniel Craig Bond.

It's hard to believe that at one point nobody wanted Craig to paly Bond. Now the common (but of course not universal) consensus is that he's the best Bond since Connery if not better.
@TheShockMaster I have to completely agree, least its been a while since there was a great ending, usually the endings end in love or happyness, but this ends in an act of revenge which is sweet. Bond is back and better than ever!!!

Seriously, it's such a poor way to reveal why Vesper betrayed Bond to just have M tell him over the phone in such detail you wonder why they didn't know this before.
I mean it would have been better to have Vesper's betrayal remain a mystery which would have been a great lead onto the next movie.
A tarnish on an otherwise amazing movie. It's just stuff like this that stopped it topping Goldeneye in my own person Bond top 10.

Casino Royale is the best Bond`s film ever. Unlike other cheesy bond films, It mixes emotions with the cool typical bond stuff. Absolutely stunning.

Actually I think he was/is the best Bond, saying it coldly just proves it. He didn't need to be over the top silly, making us smile type of agent...Daniel Craig did it right, just enough sexiness, strength, smarts and brovado.

Literally the scene that saved Casino Royale for me. Up to this point, I was thinking they had thrown the baby out with the bathwater in the reboot, since he never said "Bond. James Bond" and they didn't play the theme.
Soon as I saw this, though, it hit me that the reason was just because he may have been Agent 007, he wasn't THE 007 until that moment. It's the little things, really.

@jkarani no its a reboot and a sequil they just couldnt copy the 1954 book that good because they cant use the soviet union so they tried to modenize the book but also having the same story so it didnt like just happend they meant to do that

@MikeKKn It's a HK UMP9; The UMP45 and UMP40 have straight mags, where as the one Bond is holding has a curved mag, which is used on the UMP9. Although it can easily be converted to the .45 ACP and .40 S&W chamberings by changing the bolt, barrel and magazine.
@animorphs52 - HK developed the UMP to replace the MP5, but never completely did as both are still in production.

Remember when Bond and Vesper checked in the hotel, the receptionist asked Bond his name? I thought he was going to use his trademark intro there. When Bond and Le Chiffre first met, Le Chiffre asked if his name is Beech or Bond? Again I thought he was going to say it. Finally he said it at the end. I waited for that the whole movie.

you're right, this is a reboot...
ALL the other films were a continuity... if it wasn't, how do you explain the rocket pack from Thunderball and Rosa Klebb's shoe out of From Russia With Love BOTH appearing in Die Another Day... perhaps everyone else should try explaining this before they argue with you, only problem with your agument is he wasn't only mid 30's, he was 30's/40's/50's (look at Roger Moore when he finished)

I dunno...every Bond movie is kind of a reboot, isn't it? There's no such thing as continuity within the Bond universe, so it has always confused me when people fight over it. I mean, if you want to talk about continuity problems, how about the whole thing where James Bond is still young despite appearing in movies for forty-eight years?

Love the ending. The implied malice is great. You just know he is going to take some sadistic pleasure in making Mr. White die ... slowly. A very different Bond. I rather enjoy the Daniel Craig Bond.

Seriously, it's such a poor way to reveal why Vesper betrayed Bond to just have M tell him over the phone in such detail you wonder why they didn't know this before.
I mean it would have been better to have Vesper's betrayal remain a mystery which would have been a great lead onto the next movie.
A tarnish on an otherwise amazing movie. It's just stuff like this that stopped it topping Goldeneye in my own person Bond top 10.
