@125hamsterlover i don't know about her, but probably because there nice, there cute, they never bite, unlike hamsters they live long enough to learn there name, and from the moment you touch a rat, its your best friend

@125hamsterlover alot of people love rats. i love them, i have three of them, sure when their "teens" they're little rascals, but when their adults and elders their smart enough to not mis behave, and when their babies its so cute to watch them explore a new place cause they have no idea whats going on. i know people who have hamsters and gerbals, they're mean, they keep biting me, my rats have never bitten me (minus when i was an idiot who had chocolate on my fingure and put it in the cage)

you should use diffrent carpeting for the cage i dont think the wood would be good for the babys its best for like a clean towel or something they might get cut

@spoonleTV If you hold one of the babys you have to hold them all because if you only hold one it will smell out of place and the mother will push it aside. But if you touch them all they all smell the same. :)

Everyone calls their baby rats kittens. I call them peanuts!! ^.^ I love them the first hour they're born. Even if they are pink and squishy. haha ADORABLLE

@lavila22 If your talking about the buck that impregnated the doe, then yes, he may EAT the babies if you don't. But if your talking about the babies than no, they need to feed from their mom until they're 4-5 weeks old. Anyways you can't tell whether or not their boys are girls directly after birth. Also you shouldn't touch them until they start to get little bits of fuzz on their bodies, otherwise the mother might reject them as her own... :)

@LittleMsRandomCheese Not true! You are encouraged to hold them unless the mom is nippy. They can smell you, but they are smart enough to know the difference that if you touch their baby they will still recognize it lol

Adorable. I have a black and white hooded that just had 17 babies this morning!!! Unfortunately one badly broke its leg in several places and we had to put it down, I think the mom must have stepped on it. but all others are doing great. The dad is a tan and white hooded so I'm looking forward to see what colors the babies will be.

like the video. i'd like to breed on of my girls, but i just wouldn't have enough people to take them for forever homes... btw you know that wood chips are bad for your rats? maybe you should look into that. i don't use any bedding all together, i use this stuff made for reptiles it almost looks like fake grass... but there's nothing sticking up just like a green pad basically that i can wash. bedding made my girls sneeze 24/7 even the expensive stuff that's 28.00.. but i love the reptile liner

They are hooded rats because the father is a hooded dumbo. Two of them have black fur though (strange seeing as neither of the parents has black in their fur). A couple of them have dumbo ears as well lol. They are really cute. They opened their eyes now so they are really active lol. But most of them are the average hooded rat.
