Just for the record, there was a guy named Dick "Nightlinger" Golembiewski who ran a website called "MIlwaukee Horror Hosts". He wanted to know what music Dr Cadaverino's show came from. Unfortunately Dick died before he found out, but I just connected it up.
The Dr.'s theme is part of Gustav Holst's "The Planets" suite. I don't know exactly which part, but I heard it in the middle somewhere. It makes sense, since it was probably a public domain recording.
DR. CADAVERINO WAS PART OF MY CHILDHOOD. I ALWAYS REMEMBER TRYING TO STAY UP LATE TO WATCH IT AFTER SHOCK THEATRE WAS OVER. UNFORTUNATELY THEY DON'T MAKE TV LIKE THAT ANYMORE! I ALSO REMEMBER THE HAUNTED HOUSE KITS YOU COULD ORDER THROUGH THE SHOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN HOME A HAUNTED HOUSE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. GOOD OL' DAYS!
Thank you for posting the theme music. Would like to hear also the silly music they played with the monkey sounds, I can still hear it in my head as yesterday. Also I heard a British or Australian band do the Highway Patrol theme on stage in the early/mid 70's, I think it was Lindisfarne but I can't find it an;ywhere. It was great in concert.
I used to appear on the show as the Baron Von Finkenstein, and sent in artwork all the time. We would tape on Wednesday nights, and then the segments would be shown the following weekend. The studio used to re-use the videotape, which is why the show is a "lost" one. Jack also was Albert the Alley Cat, and created many puppets for the kids show. He was a sweet man.
Ha, I'm Jealous, I always wanted to be on the show as a kid in the 70's!
What time of day/evening did you tape on Wednesdays? And did the Dr. C segments get cut into the movies in one big tape, or did they just flip back and forth at broadcast time?
You guys were sleeping comfortably in bed while we in the audience had to stay up til way early in the morning to see the whole show, darn ya!
We would tape about 7 p.m., the segments would be shown alongside commercial breaks. The movie was usually not there until the week of airing, although Jack had a list of the movies for the year. Of course, we'd try to make the segments relevant to the movies. We aimed for 3 to 5 good segments. It was a wonderful time, and I met a lot of WITI's stalwarts, like Tom Hooper, Jill Geisler, and a pre-WGN Tom Skilling! Staying up until all ungodly hours was all part of the fun, don't you think?
@Kato599 Ah, so you are the one who did the artwork that I have seen! I have wondered for many years who did the stuff that I have had for so long. I have admired it so! I have many copies (somewhere) LOL. Jack DuBlon was my grandfather. I suppose it could be another person that did the artwork, but it looks like the same artist. Wonderful work, when I was a teenager I tried to copy the same style.
@danielledublon I was so excited to see your email, Danielle! I really loved your Granddad, and he always treated me and my family like royalty. He was an integral part of my growing up in Wisconsin. I will never forget him. You can keep track of me on my Facebook page, and there are links there to my artwork too. Perhaps someday you could send me some scans of my old stuff! Write me anytime... :) -Tracy Lesch (Baron Von Finkenstein)
What a shame that these classic Nightmare Theater shows were erased by the network! I remember watching Dr. Cadaverino and Igor in the 70's! I learned there are only a handful of Nightmare Theater shows that still exist, (about 3.) However, AFAIK, none of them are available to the public. Does anyone have any updated information about this?

So now you know.

@TrunkOfKnowledge With some sound effects added, like the wolf howl. And it's some kind of arrangement for TV, not a full orchestral recording.

One last thing, can you give a short run down of the "streaking" episode... so the story is not lost to eternity?

I lived in Milwaukee in 1967, and don't recall this at all...but it shows where the idea for "Cops" came from (maybe)!
