The saturn was built more for 2D games. The saturn had the power, but was very difficult to harness. It's better to have a console that is easier to code for, even if it's not as powerful.

I think Mark having the "3M RAM Mode" turned on makes the game slow down because that features restores all the missing animation frames from the arcade game and this engine port isn't fast enough to draw them in the same amount of time it took to draw half as many frames without the 1MB RAM cartridge.

The Saturn (and then later the Dreamcast) was an absolute 2D Fighting BEAST!

If I could go back in time and pick a console to support during the PSX Vs Sat Vs N64 era, I'd pick Saturn all over again!

It was just too awesome of a machine for all those bitch-like 3rd party developers to handle, and eventually suffocated on it's own awesomeness; Only SEGA were bad (like Michael Jackson) enough to kill SEGA, and that's the way I like it.

@kaostra It was just damn hard to program, and compile for as SEGA left a lot of 3rd party developers in the dark, with lack of software development packages, on top of the complex hardware, so some developers ended up coding in Machines code to get the work done on time, which can be a nightmare to work with, if your not truly good with Machine code. SEGA did much better with the DreamCast however making it Windows CE based, which is really easy for developers to work with.
