  • very organized repair. great job!

  • This is nightmare for me. Congratulations to you!

  • Sweet...glad my videos helped...now yours on the web will help even more. So did you new shutter come with the ribbon cable attached or did you have to de-solder the one on your failed shutter and re-solder it to the new shutter? Mine didn't come with a ribbon cable. Also, my audible AF beep doesn't work after I rebuilt mine.

  • Now that is interesting. I turned on the beep but it is nowhere to be heard. I even tried a self timer shot .No sound. I have tested most of the functions and this is the first thing that seems to have failed. I wonder what they are exciting to get the sound?

I saw your note about the cable so I was able to order the ribbon cable from canon at the same time I ordered the shutter. The cable was only $1.66. Figured it was not worth the risk of using the old one.

    Cheers

  • @AsperaDriver Really, you don't have the beep either now? Interesting, I'm wondering if maybe it could be a chaisis ground issue...recall that sticky copper tape when taking off the lower exterior shell? Any way, not a big show stopper for me...I have a manual focus Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 58mm f/1.4 lens on it now anyway.

That's odd, I had the exploded diagram and nowhere did it show the ribbon cable as a part...goes to show these videos help others out.
