  • I've heard Zack Snyder has aspergers, or some other form of autism, this true? He seems a blend of informative and awkward when he gives interviews, not too mention a bit off in eye contact.

  • It must have been amazing to sit and talk to such an awesome director like Zach.

  • I wish I could have seen it in theater. Damn.

  • I really complement Zack Snyder for staying as true as he can to the source material. I've seen too many Comic or Video game to movie adaptations which completely butcher their sources and destroy what makes them special to the fans and the audience.

  • Watchmen was a brilliant movie

  • ultimate or directors cuts are the REAL cuts of the movie. As a fan of the graphic novel the theatrical version did suck.

  • excellent film, for fans of the comic book. It failed because the comic book was not for everybody and the marketing team tried to market the movie to everybody. the fact is, you wont like watchmen if your one of those guys who thought the trailer looked cool and picked up a shirt at hot topic to show everybody how hip you were and then complained because you had to see manhattan's dong. watch it if you liked the comic book or are someone who likes comic-books otherwise fuck off.

  • @guitaHer099 I have never really been into comic books, but thought the movie was awesome... Hmm.

  • @bigcman321 sure, and you probably would have liked the comic book, had you read it. my point was the movie is not for everyone and i think this pretty much reinforces my statement.

  • Interesting cock pattern in the background.

  • @parabelll interesting that "cocks" is what you see. Do you know what a Rorschach test is?

  • @Blunty3000 GODDAMN IT! Now I can't unsee it!

    That's cheating!

  • @Blunty3000 I have to thank you for that comment.... Thank you.

  • Could you kiss the guy's ass any more? The soundtrack included a lot of music I like, but it was also an insult to my intelligence. When I watched the film, I just sat there knowing that Snyder was mocking me and my knowledge of music. The theme to The Graduate, an already used Bob Dylan song, a track from Boogie Nights, a Dylan-written and Hendrix composed tune from Forrest Gump...It's obvious Snyder just threw all this in there to fool the general public into thinking it was "so old school".

  • Such a bad film

  • This Australian guy is so creepy. Zack looked a little uncomfortable here.

  • @peteagassi he's british

  • @wtfkidproductions No I'm not, moron.

  • @Blunty3000 hahaha

  • Talks like a valley girl.

  • @cjlc15 are u excited to see his version of super man

  • Comment removed

  • Best action director of the modern times.

  • What is the song that plays in the beginning?

  • Zack snyder is a great director, i've loved his past films-need to check out watchmen, haven't seen it yet

  • @prestonZX you gotta watch it. that movie is amazing! i can't wait to see Sucker Punch!

  • @99Sel99 Someone should ask him why almost every scene is in slow-motion. It's so annoying.

  • @peteagassi lol haha

  • Hey,

I was wondering, what video editing program do you use?

    Thanks:)

  • My favourite director. He has such an eye for style. WB, get this man to direct the Batman or Superman reboot!

  • @EliteF50 He will be directing the upcoming Superman film due in 2012. And this was chris nolan's decision.

  • I'm a fan of Snyder as a filmmaker, but he's a booring interview.

  • At 1:22 pause, there's penises on that background thingy lol

  • Is it just me...or does Blunty kind of look asian?

  • Comment removed

  • i never read the graphic novel, but, I loved this movie so much. I completely understood it too.

  • Snyder's not a particularly articulate fellow, but he must have succeeded in transmiting his vision through, hence the awesome adaptation/movie.

  • @Nemeres Snyder is one of the hottest directors around! DOTD,300,now Watchmen...What's not to like? The man is a visionary, and deserves respect!

  • @mechapakmei i know what you mean he is such a good director and not to forget that two new flims are legends of the guairdans which looks amazing! and is coming out september 2010! his other new flim is callled sucker punch which is coming march 2011 and this one looks really cool story but brutal action!

  • @A74893 Thank you dude, I will keep my eye out for both those movies!

  • I like how he hides the spoiler of what you might realise when you see the movie 2x in row. there is such an aspect in Donnie Darko as well. i like such tricks.

  • Zack Snyder sounds like Steve Buscemi.

  • wow.... is cane always drunk or just retarded? lol. maybe a 7 year old? i just want to look at every comment this guy leaves, it would entertain me for life. he is probably the kid who sat alone at lunch everyday because everyone would leave the table when he tried to sit down with them.

  • @cottonmouthsournote Haha agreed, i just went through the comments and found his first one... it's basically him saying this movie sucks because it doesn't have a typical "Superman comes and kills the bad guys" plot.

  • Snyder did a great job but i wonder what if either Terry Gilliam, David Hayter, Darren Aronofsky or Paul Greengrass did made this?

  • @Remington61189

*SPOILER ALERT* David Hayter wrote the screenplay in 2003 but pulled out due to a creative difference with universal. Key elements of his screenplay were in the final script (the explosions instead of squid) but he was never part of the directing side of things. Also, Hayter's screenplay was set in 2004 - don't know about you but that doesn't sound as though the noir side of the story would have worked as well as a 1980's setting.

  • @Needham90 It still says he wrote it on IMDB..

  • I saw the movie first, then read the book, then I went back after reading to see the movie again... I was kinda sad they left out the news vendor... D: He made my life :P

  • Yeah... burning a guy with a flame thrower, A-ok... But consenting sex... that's just horrible.

  • i really liked this movie but the sex was pointless and awkward

  • @Benman98

Agreed, but it was in the graphic novel.. :P

  • that movie sucks

  • LOL are you fucking kidding me this movie sucks so many ways LOL I havent seen or read the comics but atfer seen this movie I dont think i want too

  • You are a failure as a human being

  • you dont even no the meaning of the word human being but yet you use this like you do what a dumb ass

  • Oh sorry, you are right. You ARE NOT a human being, you are just a failure.

  • man youre not maken a bit of sence what planet is you from????...... Planet White Foot..... LOL

  • You're

    Making

    Sense

    Are

  • well cane, the book was made for a purpose...

alan moore's intention was not to make a bunch of bloody pictures and things, but to show the fatal stupidty of the human race, and allows us to fully understand our consquences... it's a comic that's much deeper than spiderman or batman (which are still good comics)

zack made the movie to show the modern america (people who've never read the novel) what alan started.

  • the movie never had a hero in it incase you forgot what a hero do then let me tell you a hero is some one who save lives and in that case the crook got away clean in the movie call the watchmen so see there were no heros in this movie so again the watchmmen sucks

  • see, the movie had heroes, but in different terms.

this is a deeper story, a corrupt world of rape and death, rather than the other comics which always have good endings.

it's like a much much MUCH darker teen titans......

it was made for adults too, unlike spiderman and superman.

  • that movies never had heroes if you like movie that let the bad guy get away then you have darkness in your soul dude but only crappy people makes crappy movie and as for adults movies this one never came close to an X-Rated flick so stop saying this is a adults when there is no such superhero flic that is made just for older people if so then what reason for it

  • come on.... that's what alan moore intended

  • what you just like this movie dont make any sence

  • cane,

he meant that the movie had concepts and ideas in it that were intended for a mature audience who understood the concepts behind it. You are not what i would call mature person, seeming unable to write a sentence with punctuation in it, in fact you I would call a barley literate fuck-face.

The film and novel both tried to prove that the human race will be the cause of its own destruction and that someone needs to interfere to save us from ourselves.

The heroes in it are merely human.

  • if you classify a hero as someone who saves lives then ultimately, having put an end to war, the "crook who got away clean" is really the hero

  • fuck you thats the goddamn point its protraying the reality of vigilantes unlike your standerd hollywood shirt like spiderman and superman and the graphicness of it was to prove a point to the fucking audience proving how demoralized our american culture has gotten so fuck you, you have no appreciation in this film

  • WATCHMEN is the most fuck up movie a producer can produce LOL okay Mr fuck up head

  • "Mr fuck up head" that's the shittest call ever.

  • Cane, you sir an idiot.

  • and your a dumb ass so tell me which is worse but then again dont because you wouldnt know dumb ass

  • You must be American.

  • and you must be a dumb ass

  • I find it humorous to see that I'm not the first person to make a comment like that regarding your stupidity and lack of insight. Your repetitive use of the word "dumb ass" just goes to show it. Looks like the education system failed us again. I've seen peanut butter jelly sandwiches with more intelligence than you, TheCaneCorso.

  • you call me stupidity with a lack of insight. but yet your are the one who fnd this movie humorous LOL I tell yall you look dummer and dummer tring to get back at me some please stop this okay LOL

  • I didn't call you "stupidity", I did not say I found this movie humorous, and you've misspelled the word dumber twice, hence why I said you're such an uneducated dumbass American. Thank you for proving my point three times in your childish "LOL" ramble. This feels like I'm having a discussion with an illiterate, inbred down syndrome patient.

  • @TheCaneCorso I never thought it was possible to be terrible at arguing, but you, sir, just proved me wrong.

  • @cane, don't mock what u don't understand if u didn't get the movie then piss off! Its a gd movie its not about a superhero who saves the world its about people and how if there were super heroes what would realistically happen! Unlike spiderman or superman its a more realistic and dark adapatation of a superhero movie....and since when did saying a movie was made for adults too mean everyone should be fucking each other!?!?!............anyway gr8 movie!

  • @TheCaneCorso

Do you know any other insult other than dumass?

  • the squid would be abit far for us to believe i think it;'d be toooo much even for this film

    i like the ending

  • if flashbacks are a clumsy tool....then im glad the people who made the SAW series didnt think the same way

    but yeah this movies awesome

  • well flashbacks are a great tool but he meant that in the most like exciting scene where everything comes together a flashback would be just fatal it would ruin the intensity of that moment

  • i dont rememeber what i was talking about before but if it was about saw...then i was only saying the endings most exciting moment..is when something happens that triggers flashbacks were the whole thing makes sence and its like wow that all fits together....i dont remember what i was saying though :D

  • Ive seen the movie first!! : D

And I m planning on reading the graphic novel.

  • i kinda liked this ending better it was more surpriing the ending didnt affect the movie at all for me it was the fact that snyder put way to much slow mo and was a little to violent but other than that it was really good oh yeah and sex scene was stupid

  • it was a great movie I saw the film first then I read the book I really liked the movie dont change anything

  • personally i liked the film ending better (not that it made much difference) as it makes more predominant the theme of moral ambiguity etc

the book is the greatest (and deepest book) i've ever read and the film the most thrilling experience (filmwise)

so i love watchmen, and zack snyder stuck well to the book

  • awesome movie

ps haha, cock and balls on the couch in the background

  • i noticed too

  • did you want a killer squid?

  • lol i saw the movie, and still havent read the book.

  • READ. THE. BOOK. READ. THE. BOOK. READ. THE. BOOK. The movie is brilliant, but the comic book, at least in my opinion, is even better. READ IT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

  • I thin Zack did a great job with Watchmen. Fanboy's might say otherwise (not faithful etc), but considering this graphic novel, they captured the feel and the idea. Sure unfilmable GN, but they did a damned fine job. (hey, least it wasn't like X-menOrigins:wolverine or Fantastic4). That squid was definitely a wtf moment moment in the comic. to put it in the movie would have been a bad idea. XD

  • And the turning back thing implies your buying the DVD. That level of presumption is.. rude.

As for the "Republic Serial" line? Tvtropes would call Ozymandias the ultimate case of Genre Savvy.

  • For the most part, I agree. Considering the dense source material, the film is incredibly faithful, and overall a magnificent achievement. I do prefer the comic book ending to the film's version, however (SPOILERS AHEAD), as making Dr. Manhattan the threat, though less "surreal" than the squid, in some ways makes less sense. For example, would the Russians really side with the U.S. after being attacked by a being that the U.S. had until recently been touting as their secret weapon?

  • HEY!! I saw the movie THEN read the novel!! I want to talk with Snyder!!!

  • you americans surely have a problem with nudity. There is always a post about this, to end all foggies theories about God or whatever, yes manhattan became a "god", but most of all he lost interest for humanity, his thrill is to watch neutrons, so why would he care about using clothes? he doesn't care and doesn't need, it's a simple as that

  • that is interesting because "the smartest man in the world" took the time to have a monologue and explain everything in the book to a smaller scale in movie. possibly he means we have to go back and look for the thread of the squid thing in the book hmm

  • I thought the movie was amazing. What comes to Dr. Manhattan's nakedness. I agree with people who say it was made for it to be more like he is different than any other. Plus I DONT KNOW ABOUT THIS but I bet in the novel he is naked as well and if it is so; why would they do it any different than it was drawn/written. Correct me if I am wrong and in fact in the novel Dr. Manhattan is fully dressed? ??

  • At times, he was dressed like the part with the interview on T.V., but most of the time he was naked.

  • Well yes. ofcourse he was dressed for the tv, cause well obviously he respects our society and rules. I don't think they would have let him come on tv for an interview if he would been totally naked there too.

  • good point. I wouldn't want a nude man on my show.

  • I would, high ratings.

  • good thinking

  • The novel's artist, Dave Gibbons, said he wanted to make it tasteful nudity, so you rarely see a full frontal shot, and when you do his genitals are just an outline, so it's all very subtle. Apparently Dave Gibbons wanted it to be like a Greek statue.

So, to answer your question, yes he's naked for the majority of the time.

  • I think walking around naked is a super-power within itself.

  • In the book Dr. Manhattan is also naked most of the time.

  • damn that looked like an awkward interview lol

  • Really? I felt both of them were comfortable with eachother there. They shared a lot of the same interests in the movie

  • hey guys i think someone hacked into my account because i didnt post any comments here. i apologise for any offence caused

  • to be blunt i didn't like it i never read the novel it had good effects good sound good timing it just jumped around in the time line to much the ending wasnt expected in a good way and it was preety much a soft core porn movie and dr manhatten wore no pant half the time it was scary T_T

  • If your letting dr manhatten's penis cloud your judgement on the film you are not a true movie fan

  • no its not that im sayin it could have been a better movie

  • I think they made him naked to show that he was like God. I mean, you wouldn't see God wearing pants. Why would he hide what he created? Don't turn this into a religion argument please :P

  • I felt more like his nakedness was to show him as different as other humans not only by his powers or colour, but more like he thinks entirely different than them. He is a very special character.

I loved this movie. I know a lot of people are gonna disagree on this, but I thought this one was even better than The Dark Knight. I was really happy after seeing this movie, and I can't wait to watch it again! Perfect opening perfect montage with times are a-changin.The rest was just as awesome too

  • I agree with that. The Dark Knight was amazing, mainly because of the Joker, I felt Batman wasn't as good though, without the Joker it would just be an average movie. In watchmen almost every character is perfect.

  • Yes, I agree! :)

  • The Dark Knight...as an overall film, wasn't very good.

    Awkwardly paced and edited.

    The Joker made the film.

  • your right he did

  • I agree. I remember seeing a couple of cuts that made me go, "umm... ouch".

People were just so hyped over the Joker, that they completely ignored those things. Myself included. After a while, I found myself liking Two-Face as a character, much more. He wasn't so two-dimensional, like the Joker.

  • i believed that too. without the joker it would have been another blunt action movie.

  • ok lets not

  • Yeah nudity is something so awful... scary uh? (sarcasm)

  • the fact is that i wasnt rly expecting it

  • The Dark Knight didn't feel like a batman movie and The Joker didn't feel like The Joker. I felt like it was a completely different story that just stole some character names.

Heath Ledger wasn't goofy enough to be the Joker, he was just too evil and I really didn't like the ending.

All these superhero movie adaptations have too many characters jammed in.

Oh, and Watchmen is the best movie I have ever seen.

  • you need to understand that there are many different versions of the joker. I mean, compared to Adam West's batman, Christian Bale's batman isn't the real batman. You need to really read a whole lot more graphic novels of Batman because there's tons of evidence for Heath Ledger's Joker is very true to the essence of the Joker

  • @ohsakman I don't mean to bash you, because you have the right to your opinion...But i think you need to go back and watch The Dark Knight again. I really don't understand how it's physically possible to get a better balance between the goofy aspect of the Joker, and the sinister aspect. The way i see it, Ledger couldn't have done a better job: The reason it feels so different to you is probably because Christopher Nolan tried to make that movie more realistic than the original.

  • up there with dark night !!......... i read the gn first

  • dude where did u get that shirt?

  • i liked the ending in the movie better to

the novel ending was good, but the movie ending i better

watchmen was a great movie, i watched it before i read the novel, so i understood the book better without going back as much

watchmen was the first novel i read in 3 years besides novels for school

  • zach, you did your job,i saw the movie, and now reading the novel..it awesome

  • ugh this film was awful. Their was just not enough to justify 2 hours and 43 minutes. pointless.

  • either ur retarted or u fell asleep during the movie

  • Maybe both lol

  • violence, deep plot , cool characters ....geez what movie were you watching??!!! the movie mama mia?!! watchmen rules!!

  • More likely your too impatient for this movie.

  • wow bullbobby i know what u got on your mind who cares about your cock pillows you idiot

  • again i say FANTASTIC MOVIE ZACK

love the attention and care u put into each shot and man its just beautiful. The action was more than expected bt that enhanced it even more dk why ppl aare complaining this is physically and thematically better than 300.

I love how u kept the dialogue including my 3 fav lines. And especially the quote at the end of volume 11 whch was amazng

I am ozymandias king of kings look on my works ye might and despair.

    Applause is only necessary

  • I read the novel after seeing the movie. It was a very cool experience--I could see and feel each character and plot more clearly, not to mention the new plotlines (and the comic-in-the-comic) was spectacular.

  • is it me or does the coushin in the background look like bunch of penises?

  • trust me. it's just you

  • Oh no, now I see it too!

    *Coveres eyes while screaming

  • yeah it does lol

  • at 8:04 you can hear a midget squeeze Zack Snyders testicles!

  • I call bull on his explanation regarding the ending. By the time you see the creature you're already anticipating something like that.

  • idk i get where he's coming from. that would be pretty hard to accomplish

  • i like him he seems a cool guy

  • I liked the new ending too. It brings the whole idea of people needing to fear a deity to be kept in line into focus. I just hated everything that went down in Karnak...from the bullet catch, to the confrontation with Veidt to the 'I did it 35 minutes ago' it was all fuckin awful...

  • i read the end... no wonder ive been depressed the passt couple of days....

  • i just finished reading the book and am gonna see the movie

but i heard that it is like half a porno but im skeptical cana nyone help?

  • haha well it does have sex scenes and stuff but uhhh i guess its not too much lol

  • its not a half porno and whoever says so is an ignorant ass.

  • i dont take this guy serously as a film maker...just a comic book guy with a camera

  • iM GONNA PooP oN U

  • He pretty much is, and I didn't like the movie, but if you're gonna get anybody to do the job, might as well have a fanboy.

And the man's methodical. He knows what he's doing, the only thing I hate about him is he's exploitative and lacks any subtlety...

He pours the sugar on the cereal and eliminates any nutritional value the material has...he also sucks at bringing out the best in the actors...I don't know much about what goes into that, but it's painfully obvious.

  • hes a fuckin genius

  • As much as I disliked the end of the graphic novel, I hated the movie ending. It was easier on the movie budget, I guess. But the thought that it was better than the original? The squid wasn't the "clumsy tool", it was the cheat to simplify it.

  • give me a feeling you did not felt in the movie

  • i didn't read the novel,but i got a lot out of it.Thanks zack!!!!!!

  • I didnt read the book, but the movie is jus... WOW. i Saw it in theatres 4 times, and now waiting for some special collectors edition blu-ray!

  • With the money spent on seeing it you could have bought the book and gotten the whole story. it's well worth it.

  • who is zach snider?

  • he was the director of 300

  • i feel obligated to point out the cubist silloutes of penis's in the background. WIERD

  • Have you seen the movie?

Director really has a thing for... things.

  • HEHE...

  • Nice interview blunty. I like your sytle.

  • Yeah, he's not in your face or irritating and sycophantic, he's humble and is genuinely interested. He would make a very good professional interviewer.

  • You did your job then. Cause I am now reading the novel. Great film man!! Gratz.

  • roscharch is the best lol

  • How the fuck did he get an interview with zack snyder?

  • Blunty... I don't know what he is doing... maybe he just legitimately likes the movie... but personally I thought it was really bad. The WORST part was they nailed some parts SO well (like the Funeral) that when they failed (*SPOILER* Laurie finding out Edward is her father */SPOILER*) they failed hard... cinematography was amazing though, Larry Fong is great.

  • Ive read The Book. When was The Fucking Squid part ???

  • are you kidding? its at the end...its ozymandais' endgame

  • ...are you sure you read the book?

If you have, which at this moment i can only assume "read" your your comment means skimmed through it, you and read it again.

  • Hey, I've read the book but the squid was in like a page or two and only he's tentacles appears.
