Wow, wild Bettas are so alien compared to our domesticated Bettas. I mean, the male gets stunned and the female collects the eggs and hands them off to the male... how does he fit hundreds of eggs in his mouth?

Betta Macrostoma only found in the wild in Brunie and Sarawak, no where else on earth. You might of mistaken Vietnam wild betta, ca' lia thia, with these. These macs are huge compare to Vietnam wild betta. I used to go go catch ca' lia thia in VN when I was little too.

Nice pair of betta's they are so hard to find. In the rice field in vietnam the farmers put poison to kill the bugs which also the fish too dies. Only time i found a pair was in my grandparents farm but they got away quick.

i got some tall anubias planted on wood that emerges from my 10G. That would help'em w/ the bubble nesting too.

lol....macrostoma's are mouthbrooders. And a 10g isn't big enough.

It's not that they're mouthbrooders necessarily..They're large fish, about 4.5 inches/11cms, very fast/strong swimmers, require great water quality for successful spawns, and are territorial over their space. The smallest anyone I've talked to with them use is a 20high or 20l

um...greater water quality for spawns? i guess. my macs spawn just fine without me having to do anything. they're also only in a 5 1/2 gal. whats with everybody always putting bettas in huge ass tanks? mine are perfectly happy and healthy and spawning. and 4.5 is not huge. i purchased a 7 inch. giant halfmoon plakat at the IBC convention. now thats huge and he's only in a 5 1/2 gal. as well.

no. these are rare wild betta that don't fight like plakat, but they do fight each other for territory.
