saxmanchiro, I can see both your and rhv201 viewpoints. However, I would not discount the Bible as incorrect. The science books and other human-knowledge books continue to change as we learn new things. Therefore we cannot, nor will ever truly be able to prove everything. But the Bible has been around for a long time, and true testable science (and not the evolution junk), continues to prove the Bible. You're right, science has no agenda, and it is trusted methodology, and it proves the Bible.

What is Darwinism? Is that like Einsteinism, or Margulism or Wallacism?? The only way my students(or anyone) can upset an accepted theory is to refute it with evidence that is tested, repeated and peer-reviewed and accepted. Saxman, we're talking past each other. Darwin's "theory" was in a non-peer-reviewed book well before any textbook. Einstein disproved his "theory" when he presented it (but it is still valid/useful in areas!), something I await from Mrs. Sagan regarding her "theories." Being an intellectually honest teacher, you know Darwin's "theory" has gaps. Teach kids how to think, not what to think, & you serve science well. Bible stories have no place in science class, but neither does uncritical thought.

Darwin didn't present a theory. It wasn't until many other scientists did their hypotheses and about 50 yrs later that we had the theory. It takes numerous proven and published hypotheses supporting the same idea to be raised to theory level, but I'm sure you knew that. Darwin didn't even have genetics available to him at the time. Mendel was still playing with the garden peas at the time. Point me to this refutation from Einstein. I would love to read that one.

Darwin theorized the origin of species, thus my use of "theory." Einstein provided empirical tests to disprove relativity when he presented it and left it to others to attempt to refute it (no luck yet!). Darwin stated how his theory could "absolutely break down" too, but hysteria over "sky daddy" folks leads many to flippantly disregard scientific questions posed to Darwinism which may refute it. Religion need not factor in this scientific quest; critical thinking, on all sides, is all I seek.

I teach what is accepted as Theory in my particular science, just like gravity theory, cell theory, germ theory, big bang theory and thousands of other PROVEN theories. My opinion is not welcome in science so when you say " I " see it as fact or logic or truth, it's not important. Even if I didn't agree with it, like you, it wouldn't matter. there is a law of gravity, but it is explained by the theory of gravity. so yes gravity is a theory. theories are testable and have evidence to back them up, as well as all the peer-review they go through to get to the status of theory. scientific theory is different then the everyday word theory because they have two separate contexts in which they are used.
