I was wondering. don't know much about this competition except that it is THE premier violin competition and if you win you're pretty much set. so like, the orchestra plays this concerto over and over for each contestant and the judges sit there listening to this over and over again? O_O
amazing, while every competitior was amazing, there was political bias, as a jury once said about pogorelich in the chopin competition 1980, "He had won enough major competitions so we awarded son with the 1st place" , with these compeititons, your teacher has much to do with the outcome as your playing and your country of origin. But most of the winners of major compeittions are determined before they play
@xPatriarch That is more likely because of the recording quality. There is a metallic buzzing overtone above everything, maybe it's the mic(s). He draws an amazing sound though.

Very good performance, but orchestra is very poor due to two or more violing are needed in order to make it more musically stronger.
