I think one thing we do is we think that every black person should think the same in order to be unified. This is a fallacy because no two people will think or agree with the same premise of every issue. I think the Black generation of today's main fight is with US. Honestly we don't push our young blacks enough into college, especially the young black males who are almost are not even attempting to attend anything further then high school. See the problem with this whole idea is we can simply improve the black community through economics and it's simply not that simple. It's a 100 year old idea that's just out of date. All Presidents lookout for their constituents and more time than not they aren't the people that voted for them and it's that simple. Bush did great things for rich people but screwed everyone else. Was he the President for everyone? I don't think so. As far as Pro Black and Black Nationalists go, they aren't one in the same. Look at our educational system, prisons/arrest/sentencing rates, and access to opportunities for upward mobility in general, and you can see there are disadvantages based on race

Black People always single out a few bad apples in group and say it's the whole bunch just like the media does to us! The problem is Black People not wanting to work with each to build our community up. We always looking for the proverbial Jesus to come save us.

In my opinion there are different Americas. Different groups have different issues and grievances. We voted for this nigga thinking for the 1st time America gone help our community. See the problem with this whole idea is we can simply improve the black community through economics and it's simply not that simple. It's a 100 year old idea that's just out of date. What we need is to change the mentality of the black community. If we do that then the rest becomes easy. As the saying goes, you can take a nigga out the hood but you can't take the hood out the nigga and it's true. The slave/nigga mentality is the problem and until that problem is corrected none of this will...

@kingru77 change. What we need to do is erase this mentality, not just adding jobs. If money were the sole reason for the issues within the black community then the community would have been changed decades ago. A fool and his money are soon departed....why? Because he doesn't know how to use it. So simply having jobs for black folks won't do any good if they have no idea of what the SHOULD be doing with it. Fix the mind and the rest will follow.

and invest it and don't get me wrong some do...but the problem with a lot of black communities entrepreneurs is either they put their business in a bad neighborhood and they get robbed, vandalized, or violence near it is keeping people away from it..or the owner is unprofessional...but point blank we need to stop depending on the damn government and do for ourselves..get off of all this welfare bullcrap...and I don't trust Smelly or West because black people have been going through poverty

So this just kinds of brought up an Idea that I had way back in the day....We have all these reality shows now days why not stick some of these hard headed pro race people together like 8 groups of 2 and actually handcuff them so they have to use team work. All Presidents lookout for their constituents and more time than not they aren't the people that voted for them and it's that simple. Bush did great things for rich people but screwed everyone else. Was he the President for everyone? I don't think so. As far as Pro Black and Black Nationalists go, they aren't one in the same. Many pro-black folks are really Black Liberals while Black Nationalists are just that.

I agree that we cause many of our own problems and need to take full responsibility for our actions. I agree with West/Smiley, everyone who voted has the right to criticize Obama. I think they went too hard, but Obama has a debt to the black community. I will do a response to this. Our vote entitles us to an audience. He represents Gays and Latinos and he's taken good care of them, and addressed their issues, black need their day too.

When we vote for someone, we make an agreement, Obama was just holding up his end of the bargain by taking care of gays and latinos. Obama could easily make a huge impact on the black community, he could make sure every U.S. Institution were as justice and equal across race and social lines. We gotta hold them accountable despite the fact that it wont matter in the end, they're supposed to work for us

I try not to wear labels, but I can relate to some of the points some of these groups make. Some people have good motives but lack direction, therefore causing them to lash out in unproductive ways. We as black people need to work together to solve the problems that effect us all. The gov has some blame. Look at our educational system, prisons/arrest/sentencing rates, and access to opportunities for upward mobility in general, and you can see there are disadvantages based on race

I hate when these so called "Pro Blacks" go around preaching and saying what they're going to do for the "black community" but at the end of the day they never do a damn thing for black americans at all, in fact in many cases they cause more problems and issues within in your black community, that doesn't do anything but cause us as a people to break farther apart.

Look at the Jews, small and powefull - because of money and unity. In this country money is power, and blacks spend loads, even when we ain't got it. Boycots work, expecially in a recession. Like the Jewish community (not a race but a religious group) they stick by each other thru and thru! They have money as well so they are able to help our their people and their communities.
