How to tie a martial arts belt

Traditional martial arts have you put your belt in quarters put a quarter at your hip and wrap it around twice then do the same not tying as this student.

@bluebelt224 There are at least 3 ways to tie a belt - none more or less traditional IMHO.  Whatever method your instructor/s used become traditional to you...

@academyfightingarts That's just the way I do it, I like it because it creates a bar in your belt so it looks nice and clean.

I do ITF TKD and we have our belts cut so they only wrap round once so I guess it would be the same but coming from the back rather than the front.

wow, at first looked complicated to get the hang of, after thinking you just sling it around yourself then knot, but after watching and trying , its a simple thing you can do in under 30 seconds and no funny looks from the sensai

just wait untill you get your blackbelt then play with the belt untill you get it the right way... if your a whitebelt you got a long way to go. if your close to black belt just ask your master to show you how to tie the black belt :D before you get it

remember, FLAWLESKILLER, that different styles of karate have different ways of tying their belts =) this is how we do it at my karate studio, but there are other ways to do it too

yeeeeeeeea, im a blackbelt. 2nd degree, and when you tie a black belt you have to have your name be backwards when you start, so that when you finish its forward.

yea i tie mine as a jujistu way.. it dosent matter untll ur a black belt when it can only be tied one way.. but i got along ways to go only a white belt xD

this is 100% correct, atleast for karate. some martial arts do it the same way but opposite folds

Interesting. We do tie it in exactly the opposite way in the Korean Soo Bahk Do™ system. I just posted a video about this. We have "one point on the left, two points on the right" as you'd call it, and we note that the shape makes kind of like a funnel that points to our left. Since in lineup, we have seniors to our right and juniors to our left, we say that the information is passed from the seniors (through the knot) to the juniors. Great video, nonetheless!

Hey i have had 29 oparations and i become deaf because of one medcin i had but it saved my life and i am only 11 and i have only had hearing aids for 2 years and all my life i been 100% deaf so i have always lip read and now having hearing aids only help if am lookin and some one. and please dont moan because it hurts if i anoy ppl with my hearing lookerly i am very clever i have lvl 6 in maths and eng.
