eratic frame rate, some avatar glitches coupled with an annoying momentary freeze when opening menus led me to believe that this game is still in beta.
GameBot, a hardware-based type bot, doesn't make any trace on the game server unlike the other software-based program that you can easily download on the internet. so,NEVER worry about the delete of your account!
I'm not wasting too much money on things, but it has costed 1896 euros ATM. Soon adding a new monitor and water cooling so it will add up to around 2500 euros.
This game is so incredibly well made, it has it's issues, like the lag in the beginning of the prologue, but after that, it's nothing but win.
If you were one of those people who loved Space fighter sims like Freespace or Freelancer and not point and click games like Eve, then this is the MMO you've been waiting for, personally this was what I hoped Eve was the first time I heard about it, your skills have something to say in this game.
Yeah that's funny, 2500 euro lol. You know how the internet is, kids can say anything and assume that others would believe them. Haha.
I run this on a $400 PC and get above 60fps at max settings. Even a $1000 PC is kind of overkill for almost any game today. Also there is no real world environment in this game, the majority of what makes the graphics good is the high resolution 2D backgrounds in space.
I downloaded the game and my first impression is... Bad.. I'm sorry but there's no way this was supposed to come out so early, there are major problems with connections E.G. Lag, and lot's of it. the concept of the game is great, and the story too, but I'll just be waiting for the EU version to become the least bit stable before playing this game.
@WK010 Holy shit 2500 euros to play this free to play game? Im running it on high settings with a 5 year old computer that back then was half that price lol. I think you got ripped off bro.
No just no...you can't say he got ripped of if you don't know what specs he has...I am sure he has built him self a good system and doubt he got ripped off..He probably built it for other games as well...
@JoostShino It uses (not overclocked) up to 70% of my CPU, and 100% of my 2 Radeon HD6950's in CFX. It's a peak number, but I'll flash my Radeon's and overclock my CPU soon, so it will be definitely worth it.
Sad to say, but the game does not seem to be doing well so far. It has been released in EU and the NA closed beta is also up. It is not doing well on sales nor keeping players for that matter. The game is too limiting to the player unless you pay for silly things like 'time savers' or 'crafting insurance'. Recently they released a patch that badly nerfs crafting to the point where you are forced to buy insurance to craft anything with decent success.
I've only one problem with what this game advertises: it is *NOT* the only Space Combat Simulation MMOG. Jumpgate Classic is still live, and Vendetta Online just made the jump to mobile platforms - both of which are "space simulators."
Now, on the other hand, Black Prophecy will be vastly superior to both; I'd advise more caution on behalf of the PR team in the future, though.
I'm an EVE player and I will be playing this. Each game does something the other game just cannot do. If I want fleet ops, EVE is it. Nothing else does it better or ever will do it better. But, action is on the "OMFG sloooooow" side. If I want to go out in space and shoot stuff, not care about losing money (btw, the importance of the economy is THE MOST annoying aspect of EVE for me; I want a game to be a game, not a job) then Black Prophecy is the place to be.
This game, even without all the ship choices of eve, will be it's own game. I like space combat, and chasing things, and exploring. I do NOT like double clicking...I have been hoping and hoping for a patch for eve that changes that. Like it should be your CHOICE. But ccp is too busy with their money so, it's off to bp, and NO helge129 you cant haz my stuff :P
Hey guys ya wanna pay 250 mill for a ship and fit it with tech II rigs and modules then probe out sites then get our 900 mill ship killed that we just grinded 2 weeks for?! YEEAAAAAAA! :P Theres eve!
What risk? If you are not a fucking idiot in the game there's no risk. Steady upward climb? What 200,000 subs and 60,000 peak people on at a time when other mmo's even the crappy ones have 1000000 subs and over 500,000 at a time? Eve is all pvp huh? Where? Players vs npc's or in market is NOT pvp. PvP means player vs player. Most people signed on to eve because they expected it to be the pilot game. It's not but there is something about it. You know what it is? You get to troll
@TheJedimaster6788 Ummm...EVE beats this by variation of ships alone, sorry.
In BP, pretty much all you can do is fly around in your fighter and shoot stuff.
In EVE you can command anything from a Frigate to a fricken 17-km-long-Titan. EVE has an entire player-run economy, BP doesn't have an economy at all. Also EVE has something most MMOs don't have. A harsh consequence for Death: You loose your ship and everything in it.
So just by variations of ships eve will always win in your head. Ok I understand. People want GOOD pvp, people want to build their OWN ships and craft their OWN weapons, not just put rigs on that you MUST destroy, which is stupid by the way, to "mod" your ship. People want to FLY their own ship not just double click and have a bs go 145 or 300 m/s.
Eve is a gigantic trading game, nothing more, that HAPPENS to have SOME pvp in it. It is an all pve game. That's ALL it is.
@TheJedimaster6788 Lolno. I never said that. I said, that the mere variation of ships in EVE already beats BP.
EVE A PVE game? Lol. LOL. BWAHAHAHA. Everything you do in EVE, exept maybe PI and Missions, is some form of PVP. PVP doesn't imply pew pewing other players' ships. There's also market-PVP.
PVP is what really drives the trading part - no PVP, no ships explode, no ships are sold, so none are built, so no resources are used, so nothing is sold, so the economy collapses.
What makes eve REAL pvp. Meaning player vs player? The lag of the one server corp battles if you get past 10 players in a fleet? The lag of doing anything with more than 20 people battling? Where is the pvp. I can go into 0.0 for 3 fucking hours and not see a thing! You know how many system there are where NOTHING goes on in that game? I forgot! Wormhole space! Which is very boring...the only fun things in that game are having a tengu and legion on 2 accounts and being a troll
@TheJedimaster6788 Your internet and PC must suck. Baaadly. If you get such lags with small fleets - I don't lag in fights going up to 500-600 participants. Switching off brackets FTW.
@TheJedimaster6788 And you are accusing me without reason. A month ago, I was in a fight of 200vs350, and no. Fricken. Lag. unless I zoomed all the way in.
@TheJedimaster6788 the "ONE server crap" has nothing to do with it - and is one of the things that set EVE appart, and it's my 3rd favorite feature. The "One" server is in fact composed of several server nodes, Jita for instance, has its very own server node, that's why it doesn't lag despite the sometimes 2000 people in there. Usually a region (or two if they're small) has each its own node, and a node is in turn, composed of many individual servers.
All you EVE guys are so funny....creates a magnetic field that puts you outta phase...yah it would do it in real life. Admit it they fucked up on that. And to this "you can do whatever the fuck you like" where? how? ooo wait, concord.
Don't give me that, "may come with future release shit" you know how many years they do that and it never happens?
Balanced lol. omg.. looks like there are NO flaws at all. That's ok : ) Believe what you want. Tons of people see em, why not you?
@TheJedimaster6788 "where? how? ooo wait, concord." Anywhere. But everything you do has consequences. YES. You can do what you want, if you can live with the consequences.
PI was released only 2 expansions after they even brought up the idea.
No, it's not ballanced. There are imballances. Drake for example. Huge tank, admirable DPS...
Oh ok...I get it now! buying 12 plexs isn't breaking the economy..but buying isk is...I got it.... No worries, I still bunches of people that buy it! : ) Maybe me....maybe? :P
The best thing about eve is this... you are signed in with a officer, deadspace fitted tengu with a legion and trolling your ass off. It's all about the troll man in that game.
So in your head, eve is the greatest thing ever made. It is settled : ) It's the best game ever
@TheJedimaster6788 No, Mass Effect 2, and when it comes out, Mass Effect 3 probably, is the best game ever, shortly followed by Crysis Warhead/Wars, then Crysis 1, then Crysis 2, then Command and Conquer, then Ground Control II, then Homeworld 1 + cataclysm and HW2, then World in Conflict then finally EVE.
@Helge129 Mass effect is one of the greatest game-series ever made but what the fuck are those fps games doing in your list? An fps or rts game can't be a good game, it's just simple as that. I like fps games and love rts games but they aren't 'good games'. Like a cheeseburger might be so delicious but go to see a professional cook and say that the best food in the world is cheeseburger. It might taste good but there is nothing special in it, e.g Wow, counter-strike, halo, CC, almost everything.
@Villex93 I value games by how much I like their story (if they have one) and their gameplay. The list is by story AND gameplay - by story, it would be a horse of different color, same for by gameplay.
@Helge129 Well in that case I understand. I just think that proper gameplay is just a stardard thing, like cars having wheels. What then makes a good game is complicated and can't be easily described. Mass effect series is amazing because the whole world from planets to characters and to every little thing is wo well made and first of all, the world feels alive and real. The codex makes the gameworld deeper and more convincing. Design is extremely important too. Not enough space to explain all..
@Villex93 I know what you mean. But I don't put too much value on graphics, but most on gameplay and story (like 20/40/40). Mass Effect for example, is a Singleplayer-RPG. It depends on its story, which is extremely epic.
@Helge129 By must having good graphics and design I mean that the game has to have graphics that make the gameworld look real/realistic(I don't mean there couldn't be dragons for example). There isn't any feel to the game if the places look like they are made of legos or something like that. You can get chills from movies or trailers and usually the main effect in that part is the epic music, that's why they don't use 8bit mario-sounds.
They should really change the trailers if they don't want to piss new players then. Everyone I talk to that has played that game says, "Man, eve trailers looked so cool, but then I got in the game, and was like...what is this shit"
One of the trailers says, "Become a pilot of glorious skill as you battle your way through enemy lines" or something like that. The trailers are lies. CCP is so arrogant and stuckup they won't even listen to what the players want.
You know you waannnntt ttoooooo! You know you want to control your glorious ship with w,s,a,d. Just imagine...being able to customize your bc in eve...take the raven and make it symmetrical with a different paint job...
Oh, but I forgot....I can't do all those things...because? EVE, according to an email just now from ccp, is "reality based space simulation" Really? In the real world...if I saw my friend getting the shit beaten out of him, it is MY choice whether or not to help him. Yes I maybe would get consequences, but the satisfaction of helping him would be mine.
Concord does not help. They do not impose sanctions or freeze your assets which should happen, they just kill you. Sounds like militia
There ya go, that's why people leave eve. You lose EVERYTHING when you die. People don't want to lose every single thing when they die, they just want to end up at their home. Losing implants....that's fun. And don't give me that shit about jump clones cause sometimes you can't do it. I wonder why people are leaving eve every month...oh yeah, the outrageous skill times which will take 21 years to max out, or maybe it's the highsec ganking, or unbalanced/unfair pvp...want me to go on?
@TheJedimaster6788 Sure, go ahead. All of those features is why I LIKE EVE. FYI: EVE is the only MMO that has been steadily growing ever since its release. No major up and downs, but a steady upwards.
It sounds like their is no pointing out ANY flaws in the eve system. So I will let you go have your eve cookies and milkshake, sit down and go compete in the market :P I play it to, but why do you feel the need to not see the amount of flaws in the game? Why do you feel the need to protect it...it's a game. A game which is in beta :P or SHOULD be
I know what you are saying. I have played eve a year and a half now. You have to admit, it is boring. It's just trade with all pve with people trying to make it pvp. I get the amount of ships, but most are USELESS and utter piles of shit. AKA moa, osprey, executioner all those...
@tjbayliss I don't know about "simulation". "Arcade shooter" might get closer (whereas EVE a level removed, the player is more a "commander" than a "pilot"). And of course, even then the "only" is false (since there's both Vendetta and even Jumpgate Classic, both of which I think are still running).
In REAL life, if these ships were all real, interceptors would be killed with ONE laser blast to the ship from Heavy pulse laser II. CCP states it resembles the real world. Hmmmmm a frigate taking down a battlecruiser? A little.....unbalanced? I think so!
@TheJedimaster6788 I think not. It's be in fact imballanced if there was a solo-pwn-anti-everything mobile - which BCs and some BSes currently are, which is bad.
Dude...the game is fucking dead....ok. Get it through your head. The game is DEAD! oh excuse me, at any one time there are MAYBE 50k people on. And the one server? *shreeks* Why? Who's brilliant idea was that? All eve is, is a gigantic trading game with pve and some pvp.
The people who have subscriptions are all arrogant people who love to troll. Including you and I. Why do you think everyone goes MY FIT IS BETTER, NO MINE IS, NO LISTEN TO ME NOT HIM! IM BETTER!
@TheJedimaster6788 I don't find a steadily growing game dead, nor one that gets expansions evey 6-8 months. 50k is the lowest I see during the time I play - recently they had 62k, which broke records for players online within the same server.
After having played it for around 5 hours across the past 2 days now I have to say, I... quite like it. It's sort of like Freelancer with a graphics boost, same controls and style of gameplay. It's very rough and buggy at the moment but if they work on it and add more content/keep fixing... we may have a winner.
While I don't know if the trailer song is theirs, the ingame soundtrack is very good so I wouldn't be surprised if this trailer music was theirs as well. And I agree about SWTOR, I really hope they wont ruin it in the end.
Let me make this clear: If you want a space game that involves almost nothing but trading and watching your ship continue on for hours through a boring galaxy, choose Eve. If you want beautiful graphics, intense combat, and an open world that isn't too big so it gets boring, choose Black Prophecy. If you don't want combat, choose Eve. The 'combat' in that game makes you want to throw up, as it involves you siting there watching horrible animations go by until someone dies.
@HattingmaD Yes, BP has better combat by far. As for gameplay, it's personal preference, I prefer BP's even though it does get quite grindy (I was in beta). There is also quite a 'catch' for this game being 'free'. The item shop has many things that can give players a big advantage. For example, testers on the forum mentioned how you can get an extra 100% to stats from premium shop. Typical from Gamigo though. All of the games they publish are like this.
@somebungholio Yes, I agree with you on the disadvantage of Gamigo. They aren't a great company to begin with, but maybe this time they'll sort things out.
As for the grind, at least the action is intense, so you can do more than spam your spells, etc.
@HattingmaD If you like huge battles, choose EVE. If you like to do whateverthefuckyoulike, choose EVE. If you like fancy lightshows, choose EVE. If you want mind-boggling awesome graphics, choose EVE, If you like a virtually infinite universe (actually, 7499 times infinite, to be precise), choose EVE.
If you don't want instances, but a completely open sandbox, choose EVE. If you want a dark universe, choose EVE.
If all you want to do, is fly a space fighter, choose BP.
@Helge129 Eve doesn't have battles, it has simulations. Check out BP's bigger battle videos, buddy. There isn't much to really do in Eve, sir, all you do is try to make money in a game with less than great graphics. What fancy light-shows? BP has you beat there too, my all-knowing friend. Eve's graphics suck. I've played Eve. I've played the latest Eve. It's like saying WoW's graphics are good in the fantasy MMO genre now. They aren't. Infinite universe for you to make your bored way (continued)
@Helge129 ...Bored way to the other end of the universe to figure out you should be hours back the other way, be my guest. If you want empty space, go ahead. If you want to click around to 'pilot' your spaceship, go ahead. If you don't want real combat to speak of, go ahead. BP's world is also big enough to make it a world, with the exception of leaving the boring travel time, but nice try.
Back to your 'infinite' comment: You can't have infinite anything in a game, sorry...infinitely boring
@Helge129 I've played EVE for more then 4 years, and yes, i had an Interceptor with a faction mwd before they changed all mwd's to 500%, still not realy thrilliing, aftern a few hours of "wow im fast, but i have to stay out of range from that disruptor and nos ships" its just routine, and fleetballtes? Oh comeon, have you ever been part of one? You scale down every fucking graphics option to even be able to target your primary while having 1000 enemy ships in screen. EVE is more like an MMORTS
@Helge129 Huh, back then, about 2 years ago, i had some problems in battles with over 300 players, since the fps dropped like hell, and that on an 4000€ machine, maybe they have fixed this by adding better lod models.
@Helge129 But dont get me wrong, i dont regret playing eve for more than 4 years, but it isnt comparable to black prophecy, as eve is an interval based singel ship strategy game so to speak, and black prophecy is a twitch based singel fighter combat game. two completly different games, only thing they have in common is space. between the two games, there is only one thing you should ask your self: "Do i want to fly or click?"
@FoxDF That's what it pretty much comes down to, "Fly or click". Maybe we'll be seeing some more true space shooters soon (and not RTS simulations), the new Taikodom for instance is currently under development. I'm not sure if Black Prophecy will do all that well; the game itself has potential, but it's hard to put much faith in Gamigo as a publisher seeing as how all of the games they publish are about paying the cash shop to get the best advantage. I'd like to believe they can change tho.
@somebungholio well currently they told us all "its time vs money" but already some cashshop items break that promise, like the slot unlocks. also the prices are very high. still, i hope gamigo gets their brain rebooted, since the game itself, while beeing released to early, is a half finished jewel. also for the fact that the fate of reaKKtor is tied to black prophecy, and it would be sad if another great game studio vanishes thanks to greedy publishers.
@toggsuk Lolmissions. I've not ran a single mission for at least a year now - there are better ways to earn ISK. For one, I got an alt-char that does invention, then my main produces stuff, and both do PI. And when I feel like blowing shit up, I go blow shit up.
@Helge129 The most fun I actually had in EVE was scan probing mission runners and taking all their loot and salvage :D, then savouring the crybear tears and death threats, but I played it from 2004 to 2009 I guess I just got bored in the end.
@Helge129 Still boring, sir. Eve has no real stand-out graphics, and the combat isn't much or anything at all to speak of. It isn't exciting in anyway, and it's got nothing more than pressing a few buttons with one hand while you drink a beer in the other. Yes, I've played Eve, so yes, I have experienced it. If you like trading, Eve is the way. Anything else, Eve really doesn't have.
@mulalicanes True. They will add station walking in 1 year (maybe a little more when counting delays). No info about landing or walking on planets though.
It's a good action game, just keep in mind that this is NOT an open-world sandbox type of game. It consists of dozens of very small instances (few km2 and then you hit the invisible wall) between which you can't actually travel - you "jump" from one and spawn in the next one.
That looks quite promising, downloading it now to try it. By the way, anyone know the name of the song? Is it originally composed? Or is it something from like two steps from hell or? Thanks in advance.
Yes, this is completely different from EVE. You play inside 'zones' that are instanced and pilot a fighter ship somewhat like in Wing Commander. It's not nearly as deep and complex as EVE, but the combat is in realtime action.
@somebungholio Actually they stated this was open world. Eve isn't that complex. The whole game is really about trading so you can become the richest person of fake currency. Yes, I have played Eve before, and yes I love strategy. But no, not when a game pretends to have combat and such.
@somebungholio I was desperately hoping this game would set a true example of a "free to play" game by giving no payment options. i spent 1 year searching for a game like this and around 2 years waiting for open beta praying that this would be a genuinely "free to play" game and already ive seen the word premium show up (like "premium item malls") in the gameplay vids :(
@AngelusUmbra How do you expect a studio to stay afloat? Sadly, game studios are businesses first, and game development entities second. I won't even philosophize about how idiotic and corrupt a currency based society is...
But my point is, the free to play+virtual item sales model is a great way to get a booming player base quickly, but also make the company some money.
if you wanna play this game game with a joystick good luck, as anyone with a mouse can just sit back and turret you down, bad idea to release a game when the different controller types aren't even balanced.
I have no words to describe how I feel... Reakktor Studio made possible what I have been dreaming for the last years. An MMO Space combat with next gen graphics and fast paced battles. This is EPIC.
I wish they made macs for gaming...FUCK

TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Beause EVE is designed as a niche game, and there, it performs very well.
The cheap ones copy WoW, and are made to be mass-products.
Helge129 11 months ago
ooo fighter combat, the only reason I would play this game.
Otherwise I'll stick to EvE for my daily fleet combat operation goodness
Potatonaught 11 months ago
Can this be played from within Australia ?
lasvista2tech 11 months ago
Ummm....eve doesn't come CLOSE to this game.... sorry...
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Ummm...EVE beats this by variation of ships alone, sorry.
In BP, pretty much all you can do is fly around in your fighter and shoot stuff.
In EVE you can command anything from a Frigate to a fricken 17-km-long-Titan. EVE has an entire player-run economy, BP doesn't have an economy at all. Also EVE has something most MMOs don't have. A harsh consequence for Death: You loose your ship and everything in it.
Helge129 11 months ago
So just by variations of ships eve will always win in your head. Ok I understand. People want GOOD pvp, people want to build their OWN ships and craft their OWN weapons, not just put rigs on that you MUST destroy, which is stupid by the way, to "mod" your ship. People want to FLY their own ship not just double click and have a bs go 145 or 300 m/s.
Eve is a gigantic trading game, nothing more, that HAPPENS to have SOME pvp in it. It is an all pve game. That's ALL it is.
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Lolno. I never said that. I said, that the mere variation of ships in EVE already beats BP.
EVE A PVE game? Lol. LOL. BWAHAHAHA. Everything you do in EVE, exept maybe PI and Missions, is some form of PVP. PVP doesn't imply pew pewing other players' ships. There's also market-PVP.
PVP is what really drives the trading part - no PVP, no ships explode, no ships are sold, so none are built, so no resources are used, so nothing is sold, so the economy collapses.
Helge129 11 months ago
What makes eve REAL pvp. Meaning player vs player? The lag of the one server corp battles if you get past 10 players in a fleet? The lag of doing anything with more than 20 people battling? Where is the pvp. I can go into 0.0 for 3 fucking hours and not see a thing! You know how many system there are where NOTHING goes on in that game? I forgot! Wormhole space! Which is very boring...the only fun things in that game are having a tengu and legion on 2 accounts and being a troll
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Your internet and PC must suck. Baaadly. If you get such lags with small fleets - I don't lag in fights going up to 500-600 participants. Switching off brackets FTW.
Helge129 11 months ago
You are lying, lag on all my friends system is very common in 0.0. Again...why one sever?
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 And you are accusing me without reason. A month ago, I was in a fight of 200vs350, and no. Fricken. Lag. unless I zoomed all the way in.
Helge129 11 months ago
All I'm saying is...eve lags because of the ONE server crap..that's all I'm saying
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 the "ONE server crap" has nothing to do with it - and is one of the things that set EVE appart, and it's my 3rd favorite feature. The "One" server is in fact composed of several server nodes, Jita for instance, has its very own server node, that's why it doesn't lag despite the sometimes 2000 people in there. Usually a region (or two if they're small) has each its own node, and a node is in turn, composed of many individual servers.
Helge129 11 months ago
Why can't I make my own ship in eve?
Why aren't there modular weapon designs?
Why isn't there planet bombardment?
Why is there warping through solid objects?
Why can't i do anything I want anytime anywhere if it is sandbox?
Why is there concord if i supposedly can do what I want at anytime?
Why are able to suicide gank?
Why can't I transfer my kill rights to somebody who is in my fleet to help me kill them?
Why can't I buy isk from online like any other mmo?
So many things
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 1: Good question - maybe to keep it somewhat balanced?
2: T3 weapons might come in the future.
3: Yulai Convention.
4: Warp puts you out of phase. You don't actually warp through stuff, it just looks like it.
5: Oh but you can, within the limits of the rules.
6: See 5.
7: Because you can do whatever the f*ck you like - you just need to live with the consequences.
8: Might be added in the future.
9: Because it's break the economy.
Helge129 11 months ago
All you EVE guys are so funny....creates a magnetic field that puts you outta phase...yah it would do it in real life. Admit it they fucked up on that. And to this "you can do whatever the fuck you like" where? how? ooo wait, concord.
Don't give me that, "may come with future release shit" you know how many years they do that and it never happens?
Balanced lol. omg.. looks like there are NO flaws at all. That's ok : ) Believe what you want. Tons of people see em, why not you?
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 "where? how? ooo wait, concord." Anywhere. But everything you do has consequences. YES. You can do what you want, if you can live with the consequences.
PI was released only 2 expansions after they even brought up the idea.
No, it's not ballanced. There are imballances. Drake for example. Huge tank, admirable DPS...
Helge129 11 months ago
Yuck...drake lol. :P I HATE that ship. Bunch of newbs who don't even have the right skills fly them all the time in the comet : (
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Drakes have a damn thick tank. Thicker than a bunker - and that sucks.
Helge129 11 months ago
Oh ok...I get it now! buying 12 plexs isn't breaking the economy..but buying isk is...I got it.... No worries, I still bunches of people that buy it! : ) Maybe me....maybe? :P
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Exactly - buying ISK in a cash-shop introduces ISK, PLEXes merely move them.
Helge129 11 months ago
The best thing about eve is this... you are signed in with a officer, deadspace fitted tengu with a legion and trolling your ass off. It's all about the troll man in that game.
So in your head, eve is the greatest thing ever made. It is settled : ) It's the best game ever
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 No, Mass Effect 2, and when it comes out, Mass Effect 3 probably, is the best game ever, shortly followed by Crysis Warhead/Wars, then Crysis 1, then Crysis 2, then Command and Conquer, then Ground Control II, then Homeworld 1 + cataclysm and HW2, then World in Conflict then finally EVE.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 Mass effect is one of the greatest game-series ever made but what the fuck are those fps games doing in your list? An fps or rts game can't be a good game, it's just simple as that. I like fps games and love rts games but they aren't 'good games'. Like a cheeseburger might be so delicious but go to see a professional cook and say that the best food in the world is cheeseburger. It might taste good but there is nothing special in it, e.g Wow, counter-strike, halo, CC, almost everything.
Villex93 11 months ago
@Villex93 I value games by how much I like their story (if they have one) and their gameplay. The list is by story AND gameplay - by story, it would be a horse of different color, same for by gameplay.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 Well in that case I understand. I just think that proper gameplay is just a stardard thing, like cars having wheels. What then makes a good game is complicated and can't be easily described. Mass effect series is amazing because the whole world from planets to characters and to every little thing is wo well made and first of all, the world feels alive and real. The codex makes the gameworld deeper and more convincing. Design is extremely important too. Not enough space to explain all..
Villex93 11 months ago
@Villex93 I know what you mean. But I don't put too much value on graphics, but most on gameplay and story (like 20/40/40). Mass Effect for example, is a Singleplayer-RPG. It depends on its story, which is extremely epic.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 By must having good graphics and design I mean that the game has to have graphics that make the gameworld look real/realistic(I don't mean there couldn't be dragons for example). There isn't any feel to the game if the places look like they are made of legos or something like that. You can get chills from movies or trailers and usually the main effect in that part is the epic music, that's why they don't use 8bit mario-sounds.
Villex93 11 months ago
You command a ship in EVE, you are a COMMANDER - not a Pilot in EVE. Twitch control wouldn't work with EVE either.
Helge129 11 months ago
They should really change the trailers if they don't want to piss new players then. Everyone I talk to that has played that game says, "Man, eve trailers looked so cool, but then I got in the game, and was like...what is this shit"
One of the trailers says, "Become a pilot of glorious skill as you battle your way through enemy lines" or something like that. The trailers are lies. CCP is so arrogant and stuckup they won't even listen to what the players want.
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 They listen to the players very often - but some things the players want are just fail within EVE.
Helge129 11 months ago
You know you waannnntt ttoooooo! You know you want to control your glorious ship with w,s,a,d. Just imagine...being able to customize your bc in eve...take the raven and make it symmetrical with a different paint job...
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Actually no. I don't want to fly my skyscraper-and-more-sized ship with WASD, it would feel wrong.
Helge129 11 months ago
Oh, but I forgot....I can't do all those things...because? EVE, according to an email just now from ccp, is "reality based space simulation" Really? In the real world...if I saw my friend getting the shit beaten out of him, it is MY choice whether or not to help him. Yes I maybe would get consequences, but the satisfaction of helping him would be mine.
Concord does not help. They do not impose sanctions or freeze your assets which should happen, they just kill you. Sounds like militia
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
There ya go, that's why people leave eve. You lose EVERYTHING when you die. People don't want to lose every single thing when they die, they just want to end up at their home. Losing implants....that's fun. And don't give me that shit about jump clones cause sometimes you can't do it. I wonder why people are leaving eve every month...oh yeah, the outrageous skill times which will take 21 years to max out, or maybe it's the highsec ganking, or unbalanced/unfair pvp...want me to go on?
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Sure, go ahead. All of those features is why I LIKE EVE. FYI: EVE is the only MMO that has been steadily growing ever since its release. No major up and downs, but a steady upwards.
Helge129 11 months ago
It sounds like their is no pointing out ANY flaws in the eve system. So I will let you go have your eve cookies and milkshake, sit down and go compete in the market :P I play it to, but why do you feel the need to not see the amount of flaws in the game? Why do you feel the need to protect it...it's a game. A game which is in beta :P or SHOULD be
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
Titan's...which are the biggest fucking rip off in the entire eve universe. period
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Titans. Which cost twice as much as any other ships - by the way, I don't like Titans.
Helge129 11 months ago
I know what you are saying. I have played eve a year and a half now. You have to admit, it is boring. It's just trade with all pve with people trying to make it pvp. I get the amount of ships, but most are USELESS and utter piles of shit. AKA moa, osprey, executioner all those...
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 Executioner? I use those to build Maledictions.
Moa? I build Falcons with those. Osprey? good beginngers' mining ship.
EVE is all PVP. Fact.
Helge129 11 months ago
I think this would be so much better if Black Prophecy and Infinity: The Quest for Earth linked into one game :)
MrGibbsOfficial 11 months ago
The bit at the end is funny... "The only space simulation MMOG"
Obviously throwing a punch to EVE Online which is obviously the game to beat.
tjbayliss 11 months ago
@tjbayliss I think they want to say that this game in the only space simulation mmog F2P :P.
FanaticoSodaStereo 11 months ago
@tjbayliss I don't know about "simulation". "Arcade shooter" might get closer (whereas EVE a level removed, the player is more a "commander" than a "pilot"). And of course, even then the "only" is false (since there's both Vendetta and even Jumpgate Classic, both of which I think are still running).
jratava 11 months ago
@jratava I've tried EvE a couple of times but i've never got into it.
One of the reasons is that it isn't really what i'd want from a space mmo.
There was a game called Star Trek Bridge Commander that was an example of what i'd prefer.
I think that's what Dark Prophecy and Jumpgate Evolution will be more like.
Manual torpedo aiming but auto laser aiming.
I think it combat should require some skill. Almost like an FPS.
In EvE you just sit and watch on auto attack lol
tjbayliss 11 months ago
@tjbayliss "In EvE you just sit and watch on auto attack lol"
I'd like you see fly a Hurricane. Or an Interceptor - you'd die in either of them quickly in PVP.
Helge129 11 months ago
In REAL life, if these ships were all real, interceptors would be killed with ONE laser blast to the ship from Heavy pulse laser II. CCP states it resembles the real world. Hmmmmm a frigate taking down a battlecruiser? A little.....unbalanced? I think so!
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 I think not. It's be in fact imballanced if there was a solo-pwn-anti-everything mobile - which BCs and some BSes currently are, which is bad.
Helge129 11 months ago
Dude...the game is fucking dead....ok. Get it through your head. The game is DEAD! oh excuse me, at any one time there are MAYBE 50k people on. And the one server? *shreeks* Why? Who's brilliant idea was that? All eve is, is a gigantic trading game with pve and some pvp.
The people who have subscriptions are all arrogant people who love to troll. Including you and I. Why do you think everyone goes MY FIT IS BETTER, NO MINE IS, NO LISTEN TO ME NOT HIM! IM BETTER!
TheJedimaster6788 11 months ago
@TheJedimaster6788 I don't find a steadily growing game dead, nor one that gets expansions evey 6-8 months. 50k is the lowest I see during the time I play - recently they had 62k, which broke records for players online within the same server.
Helge129 11 months ago
After having played it for around 5 hours across the past 2 days now I have to say, I... quite like it. It's sort of like Freelancer with a graphics boost, same controls and style of gameplay. It's very rough and buggy at the moment but if they work on it and add more content/keep fixing... we may have a winner.
LordTharapita 11 months ago
Anyone know if the music is from the game? If it is then they have a very well done score for an mmo.
SWTOR talked about how great their music is but they just use stuff from Two Steps From Hell in all their trailers and none of their original pieces.
EvidensInsania 11 months ago
@EvidensInsania
While I don't know if the trailer song is theirs, the ingame soundtrack is very good so I wouldn't be surprised if this trailer music was theirs as well. And I agree about SWTOR, I really hope they wont ruin it in the end.
LordTharapita 11 months ago
I'm so bored right now that I'll try anything. This looks like a decent option. Not enough space games anymore.
SuperHolybasil 11 months ago
Let me make this clear: If you want a space game that involves almost nothing but trading and watching your ship continue on for hours through a boring galaxy, choose Eve. If you want beautiful graphics, intense combat, and an open world that isn't too big so it gets boring, choose Black Prophecy. If you don't want combat, choose Eve. The 'combat' in that game makes you want to throw up, as it involves you siting there watching horrible animations go by until someone dies.
HattingmaD 11 months ago
@HattingmaD Yes, BP has better combat by far. As for gameplay, it's personal preference, I prefer BP's even though it does get quite grindy (I was in beta). There is also quite a 'catch' for this game being 'free'. The item shop has many things that can give players a big advantage. For example, testers on the forum mentioned how you can get an extra 100% to stats from premium shop. Typical from Gamigo though. All of the games they publish are like this.
somebungholio 11 months ago
@somebungholio Yes, I agree with you on the disadvantage of Gamigo. They aren't a great company to begin with, but maybe this time they'll sort things out.
As for the grind, at least the action is intense, so you can do more than spam your spells, etc.
HattingmaD 11 months ago
@HattingmaD If you like huge battles, choose EVE. If you like to do whateverthefuckyoulike, choose EVE. If you like fancy lightshows, choose EVE. If you want mind-boggling awesome graphics, choose EVE, If you like a virtually infinite universe (actually, 7499 times infinite, to be precise), choose EVE.
If you don't want instances, but a completely open sandbox, choose EVE. If you want a dark universe, choose EVE.
If all you want to do, is fly a space fighter, choose BP.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 Eve doesn't have battles, it has simulations. Check out BP's bigger battle videos, buddy. There isn't much to really do in Eve, sir, all you do is try to make money in a game with less than great graphics. What fancy light-shows? BP has you beat there too, my all-knowing friend. Eve's graphics suck. I've played Eve. I've played the latest Eve. It's like saying WoW's graphics are good in the fantasy MMO genre now. They aren't. Infinite universe for you to make your bored way (continued)
HattingmaD 11 months ago
@Helge129 ...Bored way to the other end of the universe to figure out you should be hours back the other way, be my guest. If you want empty space, go ahead. If you want to click around to 'pilot' your spaceship, go ahead. If you don't want real combat to speak of, go ahead. BP's world is also big enough to make it a world, with the exception of leaving the boring travel time, but nice try.
Back to your 'infinite' comment: You can't have infinite anything in a game, sorry...infinitely boring
HattingmaD 11 months ago
@Helge129 I've played EVE for more then 4 years, and yes, i had an Interceptor with a faction mwd before they changed all mwd's to 500%, still not realy thrilliing, aftern a few hours of "wow im fast, but i have to stay out of range from that disruptor and nos ships" its just routine, and fleetballtes? Oh comeon, have you ever been part of one? You scale down every fucking graphics option to even be able to target your primary while having 1000 enemy ships in screen. EVE is more like an MMORTS
FoxDF 11 months ago
@FoxDF Yeah, many battles in fact. And I get no graphics-lag in even the largest of fleet battles - having brackets off, only module lag.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 Huh, back then, about 2 years ago, i had some problems in battles with over 300 players, since the fps dropped like hell, and that on an 4000€ machine, maybe they have fixed this by adding better lod models.
FoxDF 11 months ago
@FoxDF There is an easy fix to the huge lag - I btw have a 650€ machine.
Turn off the brackets (overview -> settings -> hide all brackets), this decreases lag tremendously.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 But dont get me wrong, i dont regret playing eve for more than 4 years, but it isnt comparable to black prophecy, as eve is an interval based singel ship strategy game so to speak, and black prophecy is a twitch based singel fighter combat game. two completly different games, only thing they have in common is space. between the two games, there is only one thing you should ask your self: "Do i want to fly or click?"
FoxDF 11 months ago
@FoxDF That's what it pretty much comes down to, "Fly or click". Maybe we'll be seeing some more true space shooters soon (and not RTS simulations), the new Taikodom for instance is currently under development. I'm not sure if Black Prophecy will do all that well; the game itself has potential, but it's hard to put much faith in Gamigo as a publisher seeing as how all of the games they publish are about paying the cash shop to get the best advantage. I'd like to believe they can change tho.
somebungholio 11 months ago
@somebungholio well currently they told us all "its time vs money" but already some cashshop items break that promise, like the slot unlocks. also the prices are very high. still, i hope gamigo gets their brain rebooted, since the game itself, while beeing released to early, is a half finished jewel. also for the fact that the fate of reaKKtor is tied to black prophecy, and it would be sad if another great game studio vanishes thanks to greedy publishers.
FoxDF 11 months ago
@Helge129 If you like playing boring repetetive mission grinds for 6 hours a day so you can have fun for a few hours at weekend, play EVE!
toggsuk 11 months ago
@toggsuk Lolmissions. I've not ran a single mission for at least a year now - there are better ways to earn ISK. For one, I got an alt-char that does invention, then my main produces stuff, and both do PI. And when I feel like blowing shit up, I go blow shit up.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 The most fun I actually had in EVE was scan probing mission runners and taking all their loot and salvage :D, then savouring the crybear tears and death threats, but I played it from 2004 to 2009 I guess I just got bored in the end.
toggsuk 11 months ago
@HattingmaD Watching boring animations? Fly a nano-cane or any interceptor, then say that again.
Helge129 11 months ago
@Helge129 Still boring, sir. Eve has no real stand-out graphics, and the combat isn't much or anything at all to speak of. It isn't exciting in anyway, and it's got nothing more than pressing a few buttons with one hand while you drink a beer in the other. Yes, I've played Eve, so yes, I have experienced it. If you like trading, Eve is the way. Anything else, Eve really doesn't have.
HattingmaD 11 months ago

It's a good action game, just keep in mind that this is NOT an open-world sandbox type of game. It consists of dozens of very small instances (few km2 and then you hit the invisible wall) between which you can't actually travel - you "jump" from one and spawn in the next one.

Yes, this is completely different from EVE. You play inside 'zones' that are instanced and pilot a fighter ship somewhat like in Wing Commander. It's not nearly as deep and complex as EVE, but the combat is in realtime action.
somebungholio 11 months ago
@somebungholio Actually they stated this was open world. Eve isn't that complex. The whole game is really about trading so you can become the richest person of fake currency. Yes, I have played Eve before, and yes I love strategy. But no, not when a game pretends to have combat and such.

@AngelusUmbra There are plenty of extra features you can pay for that give you an advantage.
somebungholio 11 months ago
@somebungholio I was desperately hoping this game would set a true example of a "free to play" game by giving no payment options. i spent 1 year searching for a game like this and around 2 years waiting for open beta praying that this would be a genuinely "free to play" game and already ive seen the word premium show up (like "premium item malls") in the gameplay vids :(
AngelusUmbra 11 months ago
@AngelusUmbra How do you expect a studio to stay afloat? Sadly, game studios are businesses first, and game development entities second. I won't even philosophize about how idiotic and corrupt a currency based society is...
But my point is, the free to play+virtual item sales model is a great way to get a booming player base quickly, but also make the company some money.
