I'm about a hundred pages in and conflicted about sticking with it or moving on to something else.
While the imagery is beautifully drawn and the characters interesting , the unrelenting mistakes in the descriptions of growing/harvesting a food garden and cooking are proving very distracting for me.
I just finished this wonderful book. Fantastic first novel - I can't wait to read more of Ms. Mitchell's writings. Poor Maria - Poor Teodor - so tragic. This would make a wonderful movie!

This is a good book. Our book club is reading it this month. We hope to see Shandi Mitchell at Read by the Sea next summer!
