Can these ppl take a punch(including the "sensei") in the stomach while doing a block , and not fell down on the ground? Does there stance give them speed? Can they survive in a fight against 4-5 gangstas? If this is karate (bet it's not) why do the students look like beginners when they are blackbelts?
@Killcalleordie I never trained under SAKA which he is guest instructing, so I can not remark about that. As for Sensei Yaguchi I assure you he, and his students are quite competent. As for survival in a fight, it certainly depends on the person, and situation, including multiple unfriendlies. Too many variables. From what I know of, I can give you a resounding yes. I will not go into details. At this point, if you regard JKA as Karate, then this is a picture into Karate! Regards.
@torro454 I'm writing about the students in America how they represent the Shihan. They don't kinda give a good image of Shotokan , they are known (atleast here in Sweden) as hardcore karate that focus on knockout-punches and all that. But here where is the fire for the martial art? My first comment would be different if it was a video of Japan Shotokan Karate. I bet you've seen them. They give another image , they seem stronger , faster and can give hell to thier opponents.
@Killcalleordie I have difficulty understanding you are saying. What I understand is you are too busy watching video's, and listening to rumors instead of training. We call them Arm chair Karateka. Come train under one of the Headquarters dojo in USA. I suggest you train in Japan too, you will learn much. First, don't listen to rumors! We've had Swedes, and people from many places come train in the USA. Focus on your Karate, not your ego. Regards
