  • hi great build how did you get the shaft through the transom without leaks?

  • @trizzo5 the driveshaft is a flexable steel rod which sits in a copper pipe, the copper pipe ends above the waterline just in-front of the motor. The steel rod is also spun so that while it is running it acts like a screw pushing the water out.

  • It would be cool as heck to have a 'person' sitting in it.

  • Cool boat. Nice sound as well. Has it got an electric engine or is it a petrol or diesel. I am guessing it is electric, but I have a model boat which i found in a skip!! It used to have a diesel Engine but my dad and i did it up with a new Rudder motor, Electric Engine and a new coating of paint. I made a video of it. If you go to my channel and click on it you will see my test run. Comment if you like.

  • Awesome boat!

  • beautiful model..runs well. It looks like the old wooden Chris Craft's that they have up here in Annapolis, Md. at the annual boat show in the harbor. It needs a person navigator. Like a little Hobby people or a GI Joe doll or something. It would look better, looks a little strange without one! A gorgeous model, though.

  • the most beautiful way to build a boat!

    great :)

  • IT is a beauty model....a classic barrelback..just if you put figures on it at the same scale will improve much the apearence..looks strange without passengers or pilot...congratulations for the model.

  • can you ride on this?

  • really nice boat

  • ive wanted to do the same thing too for over 25 yrs and never did. runs very close to a real classic runabout. gas engine too , nice !

    T2

  • yeah, it was built off scaled plans for the full size virsion, rather than upsizeing plans for a model. this allowed me to successfuly put an engine in it. needs a new propellor now though, it run aground unfortunately.

  • sorry to hear that , could of been worse. real ones cost a bit more ;o). boat looks like it runs just like an old mahogany chris craft.

    dimensions ?

    speed ?

    motor size ?

    T2

  • its 1700mm long 600mm wide at its widest 400mm at its thinest. about 600mm tall at its tallest and about 400 at its shortest. no idea on the speed, it could go faster because its not using all of the throttle at the moment, i need to make a longer arm for the control motor. and at the moment it just runs off a standard ryobi whipper snipper, not fantastically tuned but goes non the less. i think it total this model cost me about $1400AUS to build.

  • hey im starting to find blueprints for a boat similar to yours...i was wondering if u could up load like 3 sec vid of the blueprints for ur boat if u have them on your comp. if not do u no any web sites where i could get free blueprints for a similar boat? thanks for sharing.

  • svensons com/boat/

  • Thats really really cool. Ive always wanted to do that! Tell me...how did you make it?...is the hull made from timber?

  • its all wood yeah, the ribs are made out of pine, the deck is beach and mahogany, the keel is ash and the hull is also made out of beach. there is so many processes that to explain them all would take a while, but if you wanna try it, then if you run into any problems, fel free to contact me

  • cool man did you build this?

  • yeah mate, all by myself. took bloody long time to do it too. :p
