This truly made my day, nay, my week, to see Roger and Lol back into the band. And their sound is truly magnificent. I am somewhat new to The Cure starting from their 2004 session, and it brightens my day to see Robert rekindling their old sound :)

Also all of the cure started using different effects in the past decade which was an undesirable addition to their sound as well. Robert's guitar has some HORRIBLE tone in a lot of newer live recordings...especially his VI in the Trilogy.

The thing that's wrong with Jason's drums is that he has a WAY different natural swing (or lack of) to his drumming than Borris did. It seems rushed and stiff - he just has a weird style that makes the songs sound different. He is not a bad drummer...and they CHOSE to use his style for the newer records, like it or not. But he also brings a more, um.... modern sound to the old songs, which is bad IMO. It makes them sound like a karaoke disc or something.

Respond to this video... Robert, if you read this, you should give Budgie a ring to drum for you guys. I mean you played with Budgie before when you were with the Banshees. You know he's the only one on par with Boris. Jason has had his "moment". Time for a new/awesome drummer: Budgie. It's only logical... After all, The Cure and The Banshees are sister bands. Let bygones be bygones and give us a "classic" Cure again. Lol, been a long time, missed ya man.

He brought what he brought to The Cure and that is that. Time to move on. Budgie also has the experience in playing music that is very similar in style to The Cure. Budgie is an awesome drummer who can adapt to any playing style and The Cure's is probably a style he is very familiar with.

I think Budgie as well as the members of The Cure, would benefit highly in a merger of the two. Let's face the facts, The Cure as it stands now has caused some backlash with many fans, and Jason is seen as a big part of that, even if it is a bit unfair. I think people are ready for a dynamic, re-vamped The Cure.....

Yes, Jason Cooper (the drummer) is like 15 years with the band BUT truth be told, he never really did anything interesting and memorable for the band. Unlike Lawrence or Boris (or even Andy which only recorded one album. Or Steve Goulding who only recorded one song with the band!).

Jason is not bad but his style will probably fit other type of band.

As far as the drummer, I don't know this Jason dude 'cause I'm an old timer (meaning anything from Hot Hot Hot back is my favorite Cure music). He doesn't sound bad but I would prefer to see Lol or Boris play if I were to spend the big bucks. I saw them a couple of years ago and the lazy bastard didn't even play the drumlines to their older material correctly. He was leaving out chunks of beats that were the backbone of those songs. Some might say he was playing them "his way" or something stupid. Bullshit. It was garbage. I was appalled.
