  • So basicly, I have to buy four of these....

  • Why the elevator never stops?!

  • @CzarCustom 6:10 listen closely... it does :D

  • id fuck benny greb if he was intrested

  • I just watch this to see him play.

  • 4 people think that travis barker is the best drummer!

  • I love Mr.Greb's precise french grip.

  • 4 people dont know what hi-hats are

  • He's a genius!

  • The direct Jojo Mayer contendor.

  • @noconfig no chance for jojo

  • I might just take Benny over Jojo.

  • You can see the Jojo Mayer influence in the way Greb plays... I love them both.

  • the fill leading into de 4:58 groove, he enters the groove a litlle early, is amazing mistake... see if u see it

  • @SuperMolamola no way...it is not a mistake

  • just amazing, very creative

  • omfgggg.... as the primary high hat..sounds so delicious.... now i just wish i had a rediculous amount of money to afford shit like this

  • @toddmonster Dude, you realize that this isn't expensive at all right?

  • great!pleas Benny come to Milan, Italy!!!

  • i made one with a 10"china splash and a 8 " splash it sounds splashy and crisp it sounds pretty sick

  • @ryanandbranslurppiss i did the same thing lol i love this thing

  • I made my own trash hat by swapping the bottom hi hat w a 14 in china

  • what is that secondary snare? it sounds awesome and i want one!

  • i wasn't a fan of it.. until after i saw benny groove all over that thing! same thing with splashes. i hated them until i found benny greb playing them. He just really knows how to groove!

  • They sound amazing as normal hi hat!

  • Wow sound amazing as is he, when he plays the electro, jojo feel thing is he just using finger control that was so tight and fast!

  • this man is so amazing! he is THE master of groove.

  • i like it as a hit hat the most

  • i like the idea but if i were to do this id probably try make my own combinations. different series', different sizes, different densities you know

  • just got these for christmas.. so happy. they sound amazing with so many styles. i'm really enjoying them

  • yeah!! great groves

  • sounds good but doesn't have that clear attack. maybe i'd use a denser material, but still keep it thin

  • and use it as a frisbee ..hurry

  • 49 holy crap that snare sounds amazing...im a zildjian player but i want to switch over to meinl cause of benny

  • poser

  • why cause I like benny greb ya douche

  • I second that beat at 4:41. shit is insane

  • sounds like jojo mayer

  • Man Benny is outrageously talented.

  • so talented... its an outrage?

  • one of my favourite cymbals i have ever bought, its amazing how many diffferent styles of music it fits in with

  • wow we can tell you really don't have any kind of musical creativity. GG k thanks

  • Benny is amazing. That break beat pattern @ 4:41 with the 5 stroke roll on the little secondary snare is HOT!!!

  • @andrewt248 - I absolutely agree! I have been playing a long time (no, I am nowhere near this guy's sound or ability, but I do know what is great or not like you do) and when I saw him play that 5 stroke roll with one hand so musically, my jaw just hit the floor. This guy is amazing, you are 100% right about that!

  • nice

  • That's hell of an underground practice room! :D Rocks!

  • why is he going up and down in the elevator oO

  • Sounds interesting as a "normal Hi-Hat" but I guess it IS easily trashed.... ;D

  • they have with the generation x filter chinas

  • erm, no. not once did he play the "i think you should buy this" card. watch his DVD "The Language Of Drumming". He has a whole section like this where he demonstrates and talks about sound creativity and using cymbals in different ways and even pizza boxes and whisks! so dont try to sound cool by saying benny is a sellout marketing scheme....hes just doing what he does best, sharing what hes learnt about making different sounds.

  • So where did I say he was a sell out marketing scheme. No such thing as sell out, just selling. Marketing is a good thing. What do you think this video is about? It is selling, nothing wrong with that.

  • just the way i read it made it seem like you didnt like him for this video haha =]

  • he is the groove-master :D

  • Like his drumming, like the cymbals. But Why is he going up and down in the elevator? :)

  • because he is benny greb maybe? duh! :-p

  • what kinda kit does he play in this vid?

  • he is a sonor endorser, so i figure sonor maybe?

  • He could put 2 frying pans on a highat stand and make em sound great. What a talented dude.

  • Yeah so??

  • Yeah, but the difference is that this sounds different and mike portnoy didn't invent it, it has been used way before his time. And this is more than just a stack.

  • lol. sorry, that first comment is wrong.

  • all he's doing is sextuplets. It just really cool .

  • he's doing 9 beats over 1.

  • hey does anyone know what kind of polyrhythmic lick he's doing at 7:00 ..fucking insane

  • haha his solo at the end was so distracting when he reading the credits!

    such a nice flow

  • I'll tell you what, if Meinl can do anything, it's make fantastic trashy and white noise sounds.

    These hats are no exception.

  • it's benny who's making the cymbals sound so good.

  • sounds awesome when he plays it. but it would probably sound like shit when I play it

  • first i thought it wouldnt be a nice sounding cymbal but as hihat its great ... as long as he plays it.

  • i nknow he's a great drummer.

but when he said trash hat....i thought of a hat made from crisp packets and old containers..

  • HOLY SHIT. DIDNT ANYONE ELSE NOTICE HIM AT 4.44

benny greb iss goddddd. how do you do one haned strokes that fast?

  • Yeah I noticed that. It's basically pushing the stick down as if you were gonna buzz, but just more controlled. I saw that and had to go try that out on my kit.

  • and then a really fast up strock after that

  • wow i really like that thing. And Benny Grebb is a badass.

  • anyone have any tips on how to get his snare sound. i have a pork pie 13 by 7, and i cant seem to figure it out.

  • Franchiseuno, Benny uses a Sonor SQ2 (if im not mistaken) 13x6 snare made of beech. That could maybe help a little

  • Benny is amazing, I was lucky enough to get to tech for him at the Bath Rhythm Course last week, went out for a drink too, lovely bloke.

  • Benny Greb f-ing rocks, but I gotta say that I have never been a fan of any of these companies' "trash" series of cymbals... maybe I just need to hear them more and let 'em grow on me.

  • Awesome drummer, and the TrashHat sounds like sex.

    HAHAHA.

  • How much does the Trash-hat cost?

  • Around where i live, about $300 give or take..

  • great drummer! love his stuff. not feeling that trash hat though, it just sounds a bit like my broken old planet z crash.

maybe i just dont get it.

  • ....i think i get it now. my opinion has been turned round between 4 and 6 minutes ^_^

  • he is amazing drummer

  • that is some phat sounding snare. *drools*

  • inspirational stuff

  • how does he get those 4 quick hits out in that jungle beat? is it like a tiny moeler whip or something.

  • Seriously, how the fuck do you get a snare (the main one) sounding like that? Has anyone got any tuning suggestions?

  • i gues you have to tune the batter head tight and the snare got to be something loose. the size is also important. i think he plays a 13"x6,5" wood snare. and you also have to put a litte tap on the top head so you eleminate the overtones. i hope i could help you ...

  • Thanks. What kind of head would you recommend?

  • i would go for a 1 ply ambassador head.

it is very good for snares and benny uses it too. experiment with sound and try to find yours...

  • I kind of made my own trashhat before. I just took a Wuhan splash (sounds like a china) and paired it with a regular splash on an extra hi-hat stand. It sounds similar, but the thing he is using is heavier and has a larger diameter.

  • Dang does it sound good.

Pair it up with a Sonor Jungle Kit, and a bunch of other Generation X cymbals and you have the ultimate electronic sounding kit. Rawr.

  • Where can I get it? Sounds great :)

  • Benny is cool

  • His voice is different than I thought. But still GREAT!!

  • I have a pair being delivered to my house some time today - they're exactly what I've been looking for.

  • god i want one!!!! they sound so good

  • this guy has got feel 4 africa man.

  • good Drum ´n´Bass cym.

  • he looks kinda like jesus

  • Really.....?

  • He doesn't look a thing like Jesus.

But, he talks like a gentleman.

  • Ok If I typed Really.....? that doesn't mean I agreed or believed the statement I commented on, hence the question mark at the end.

  • i knew your dad was gay.

  • HAHAHAHA, good one.

  • not in Christian art

  • not in Christian art

  • HAHAHAHAH. kudos :P

  • Strange thing %) I see it first time, but it seems nothing special for me.

  • Does somebody has experiences with it?

  • 6:55-7:11 was sweet

  • those were sweet how much was that hi-hat does anyone know

  • $180

  • sweet thnx

  • err, in australia its RRP is $320

  • The two hi hat tops sound great together

  • Jeez, that looks like a dangerous elevator that he was riding in.

  • Try changing your drum head.

  • Why? His drums sound great!

  • ive got meinl hi hats :S they GONG :O :D but my fav drummer sponsered by Meinl has gotta be Johnny Rabb

  • haha you wont catch me bending my cymbals to proove how thin they are! sounds good but i could never find a use for it

  • i didn't know who was benny greb a month ago...the world of drums needs drummers like him, he's got everything!!! him and gene lake are my favorite drummers now :-) great discovery, thank you

  • he grooves so well - and i love his drum sounds, im actually surprised at all the good results he got from those cymbals it honestly makes them look like the coolest thing for anyone to have

  • *fuckin cool to groove on1 oops

oh theres a lil cartoon pic of benny on the hats to! hahaha its deadly!

  • i just got these today! :D :D oh there so fuckin to groove on!! i love this guys grooves so much...

  • the snare is very well damped (as you see he doesn't has die cast hoops on it). And as mrstorey89 already said, the mics make it sound very well.

Don't forget that the shell/snare must be aalso expensive, as i suppose more than 10 ply!

    (sry for my bad english)

  • his grooves are brilliant

  • hey benny... it doesn´t rain outside!!

  • its not so much the snare, it's the way its mic'd. But you can get pretty close with some ductape on your bottom head.

  • I transcribed the groove that starts at 00:40. Go to drummerworld and search for "some transcriptions" I hope you'll like it!

  • Amazing grooves and fills!!!

  • He's too good.

  • Anyone have any idea how he does that one hand roll type thing. Around 4:40. Is he rolling his fingers in the rear fulcrum?

  • He plays an initial stroke followed by three controlled rebounds, and the last rebound is pulled out with a Moeller motion and followed by an accented stroke. So no one handed roll tricks there, just nicely controlled rebounds.

  • Shit I was pronouncing Meinl wrong.

  • OMG, this grooves sound killer :|

  • I want one. Does anyone know what snare he is using in the video? It sounds fantastic.

  • Sonor

  • that is a very nice cymbal, so many things you can do with it!, and i love his snare sound! and he almost drops it at 4:18 lol

    hes so cool!

  • Sounds very interessting (:

  • I want one !!

  • Awesome
