  • He looks like Vegeta.

  • lol.... too funny..

  • este tio estara ya muerto no?por suerte para muchos, que asco

  • Nomi scares me. Not because of his looks alone, but how he reminds me of old vaudeville. Its just uncanny for me to watch his old videos and know that he was indeed a clash of old and new, the fantastic and the scary bold. He's just strange. And hes kinda growing on me for that reason. Still, I think I will have nightmares.

  • unfortunately, 8 people don't know him now.

  • I still get chills whenever I listen to his stuff.

  • man this is weird even for the early eighties!

  • whatever this guy is, hes awesome

  • O.o wtf, i so have to look into this

  • R.I.P. :(

  • Like a nuclear reactor exploding in a field of tulips. his performance is taht intense

  • starman

  • He's very pointy

  • little known fact Klaus didnt die. He faked the entire thing so he could go home to the planet Nomi and return to save the earth in 2011. I look forward to it my beloved little alien.

  • Too sad he he died so lonely.

  • Klaus, you were so beautifuly strange, brought so many types of music together to fantastic effect, yet so humble. I wish you were still around. Sleep with angels precious one. xxx

  • god I love this performer.

    wish he were still around

  • God the special effects in this video really are "special"

  • @chizzad2001

Not sure if your trying to be funny or not. Doesn't come off that way on a couple of counts. You don't appear to know that video was a pretty new form when this was done. Guys like Nomi and his video crew helped invent the stuff you now ogle on a teeny tiny i-pod screen. This is from back in the day when people cared more about art than commerce. Peace be upon you.

  • "some KIND of test" haha

thats the best part.........not to say the rest of the song isnt great cuz it is.

  • david bowie and iggy pop a traitor ... he say to klaus nomi he call him but he dosent do it ...

  • Pee Wee Herman meets Astro Boy

  • I actually think your comment is funny. And I'm a new and big fan of Klaus Nomi (and Pee Wee Herman)... I wonder why everyone has been thumbing it down. If people thought about it, they'd see that what's endearing about Nomi and Pee Wee is a sophisticated naivite, a goodness that the rest of humans may not be ready for.

  • Thanks. I didn't mean for that comment to be a mean-spirited mock. I like Klaus Nomi. I was just making a paradotic observation. I suppose I thought people had open-minded senses of humor like you.

  • wasnt he on venture bros

  • He and Iggy Pop were David Bowie's henchmen.

  • I remember when google accidentally sent me to lightning strikes I was like wtf is this and wasn't he on that one episode of venture bros?

And now I really like Klaus Nomi!

  • Lady GaGa must've gotten an inspiration of her wardrobe from Klaus Nomi.

  • duh

  • lmfao

     sooo true

  • He has a beautiful voice!

  • ur komment isnt connected to the video ...so why post it..... CHEERS KLAUS WE WILL NEVER FORGET U

  • Actually, Nomi took a lot from David Bowie... He "borrowed" his suit when he sung back up vocals for him in a SNL appearence ;)

  • Actually if u watch The nomi Song ... and various other Interviews ...he says he INSPIRIED himslef... cuz as weird as Stardust was... nomi was a whole level higher, And thats what made him a Class act ....Cheers Lkaus

  • what a beautiful creature

  • fantastic voice!

  • test 1:32

  • test

  • um ok

  • We should all dress like him at halloween and if anyone say "who are you supposed to be" you be like SHUT THE FUCK UP BITCH I'M KLAUS NOMI! then walk away, ~Klaus FTW

  • haha, no, they would be like "oooh, AstroBoy!" lol.

  • no if somebody ask, then start singing this song :) Nomi, nomi, noooooomi :)

  • @rangedat We should all dress like him all the time.

  • @Distortion0 we probably will someday :)

  • @rangedat Actually, that is my exact plan for this year! (minus the "shut the f. up')... I just discovered him in the last few months and now I listen to him almost every day. I hope to honor him with my costume.

  • @rangedat Wonder what kind of stuff you like? Try to focus on the music, man! its so hard to you? But i mean..maybe you have grown listening shit and you cant apreciate the art of this genius..A expression of Futuristic music...It seems so close to last year, when stuff like the Blue Man Group is admired for thousands of retards..Try to search in the basics dude!

  • @seekingnewhorizons And what are you referring to? 90% of your statement made no sense.

  • @rangedat im referring to the superb class that had this man...This song is simply awesome..Its so sad to see how underrated is the Art of Klaus Nomi..Lost under tons of crap ...-Never seen on TV a special about him..neither a video..Only know about him through urggggh...but for the masses? What means this genius? Btw , i think this song its his best ! Rip Klaus

  • @rangedat I dressed up as him and 1 person knew who i was and i was ecstatic!

  • pause it at 2:05

  • good song

  • I LOVE THE DANCE AT 2:00

    lol

  • Il a une superbe voie de soprano, ct meme le protéger de david bowie et fredy mercurie ..mais apres cette chanson il est mort du sida envirion 6mois apres

  • ive been cursed i purchased a nomi sim card of ebay and this guy came up :O

  • o,k,,you're probably gonna think i'm weird or something but since i discovered this song on you tube,i can't stop listening to it.everyday i come home from work and listen to it repeatedly help me i'm obsessed !!it's like wizard of oz,babes in toyland,kraftwerk,pee-wee herman, ricky ricardo on crack, rocky horror all rolled into one.

  • same thing here lol

  • you should watch "lightning strikes" i can't stop watching it. its getting ridiculous. the people i work with are wondering what the hell kind of opera i keep blasting out of my room

  • This is by far my favorite song that came from klaus. So catchy. :)

  • oh i see what you did here

  • i always wanted to look like him (though i'm a girl).

  • i'm still trying cos i think he was hot.

  • yeah cos marilyn manson never touches drugs?!?

  • Of course not. Marilyn Manson is lame. Klaus Nomi was, and will always be, way more awesome. Seriously.

  • Get your facts right

  • I wish Klaus Nomi alive and make more unforgettable music and his beautiful angelic voice. His music will be with us forever

  • Brilliant! We so need more songs like this!

  • weird..... but bad ass at the same time.

  • Sorry about the randomly-placed comments, apparently my browser's not letting me post "reply" comments, and just puts them at the top... stupid FireFox.

  • Hi Seth. I give you a plus 1 okay? ^^

  • Oh man I want his shoes.

  • lol same i wnted to dressup as him at a party but no1 new who he was but please bare in mind all are 14 year old working class kids and have very little scope for other types of music i still love him tho lol

  • Very cute!

    My favorite Nomi song :-)

  • Then go watch your hair bands, or Britney Spears, or New Kids

    whatever.

  • rather like your mum then isnt it

  • His songs were kinda catchy! he comes across very sweet in his videos.

  • Awesome talent, it's a shame that the great ones died first :(

  • i think he is quite cute :P

  • why would i would i want to do that you prick.

  • what?

  • I like where this thread is going. Fail harder pl0x.

  • German pop? please, do your homework. Klaus Nomi left Germany in the earliy 70s, and never made music there. This is produced in new york

  • i fear him

  • What a waste of a good tenor voice!!!!

  • Not a tenor! No WAY! He is singing falsetto in the tenor range. Try baritone or even bass.

  • he is what is called a counter-tenor, one of the best in centuries, very view music is written for the range, but check out his performance of Purcells the Cold Song, written in the 15th Century

  • its like somewhere inside im thoroughly mortified and disgusted but i cant LOOK AWAY >_<

  • did he get castrated to keep such a high pitched voice?

  • No. That is falsetto. If he were castrated as an ADULT, it wouldn't do much for becoming a soprano. Gotta be done when they're small, like stamping Python's Penguins in the Zoo...

  • No, he is a fully-functioning adult man.

  • he's dead... does that make him a zombie?

  • No, he's dead. I wouldn't call that functioning.

  • Roffle.

  • No, "castraltos" as they were called stopped centuries ago, he is a counter-tenor. His natural range is up there. A castralto sings higher still, like a boy soprano.

  • he isnt singing falsetto, he is a counter-tenor, falsetto cannot produce the power he has, if you listen to the lower range he sings, it doesn't have the power of his upper natural range.

  • We need someone like Klaus to shake up the music business.

  • I'd much rather listen to this than hear Celine Dion sing that "Titanic" song again...

  • He was gifted, but got into dumb German pop, unfortunately, needing an income or renown, such as it was.

  • blaaaaaaack aaaaaadder black aaaaaaadder!!!!

  • Germands are weird

  • Nein!

  • this is weird

  • Ahead of his time? Are you kidding?

    This is bad 70s Rock.

  • Yeah I certainly don´t think it´s ahead of it´s time. It´s just very bizarre.

  • I just love him! I just saw the Nomi movie a couple of weeks ago and I can't get him out of my mind. Do you have the video of Boys Keep Swinging with him in the background? Or is it TVC 15.

  • Snowbarr, I agree. Too many folks reject what they don't understand. Klaus redefined 'mainstream' New Wave. Everyone has an opinion but I thank the stars that Klaus existed. His presence made the world a cooler place, and Bowie was smart enough--as usual--to recognize his talent and welcome him into the limelight. Kudos to Klaus, Bowie and those of us who appreciate his genius! BTW, I have the Lodger LP w/Boys Keep Swinging, but I didn't know about the vid-thanks for the heads-up!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    I'm freakin' scarred for life

  • Klaus...way ahead of his--and our--time (and space). I remember seeing him singing back up for David Bowie on SNL when I was about 20...Bowie stole the show, as expected, but Klaus' attraction was undeniable. For those of you interested, check out the doc called "The Nomi Song". One of his first recorded live performances was my favorite and--I think--his best.

    RIP, Klaus.

  • Bowie could not have stole the show as it was his to begin with

  • noncogito42, well of course it was Bowies "to begin with"--but it is not uncommon for a secondary player to upstage the main performer. I have great respect for David Bowie, and when I saw him in concert, my respect tripled, which I didn't think was possible. Anyway, I see where you're coming from, but I hope you, too, can understand my POV.

  • excelent

    great voice and big talent

    RIP

  • this is the song i use to pick up chicks with in my car

  • Klaus was a visionary, and he was a magnificent singer, no question

  • RIP klaus i wish i had a chance to know you!

  • god bless klaus nomi...

  • indeed, and there will be more to come

  • thanks for klaus...he is in my mind...my dead soulbrother...one of a lot stars...who gone away

  • it's such a pity he died so early in his career. he had such a beautiful voice.

  • ahha. his whole look and movements remind me of this one cartoon character. or some cartoons must have sattired him in some episodes.

  • definitely, he WAS a character in his own right. but he does remind me of something out of the Batman animated series that was aired 15 years ago, in particular. Klaus is a very interesting performer to watch...luckily there's a lot of footage of him, but not enough.

  • upbeat yet haunting, magnificent stuff.

  • amazing this guy was able to sell this stuff, Got to give him credit for his guts

  • I agree entirely with ladylove72! I think there's not much to add. Klaus Nomi still lives with us...!

  • What a wonderful song, sung by a wonderful entertainer (I'm still smiling as I'm typing)...and PeeWee stole his act!!

  • why did the green monkey have to kill him

  • a classic song with a great message if one can get past being hung up over the (amazing) voice and (amazing concepts) and (amazing) looks...those last 3 things weird some out sometimes...

  • Klaus Nomi is just an amazing man: fun, eccentric, reclusive, and with a fantastic (though bizarre) voice. His life was fast-paced with a tragic end. But he lived his dream. :) Thanks for posting this!

  • For the early 80's, this is about as cool as it got without having a major drug problem or psychological disorder. It kills me to think what this marvelous little imp could have accomplished in the digital age.

  • You guys are joking right? This is downright aweful.

  • I agree he was brilliant and should have been massive but very sadly never got that far I love him.

  • He could and should have been HUGE!!

    What a waste.

  • Brilliant video and song. Punchy pop with melancholy. Great.

  • klaus was fantastic - what a contribution - such perspective and context - one of the few angelmen

  • uhh... he's not a geezer. he died of aids in 1983 when he was still quite young.

  • are you american cos i'm an englishman and geezer means so many things over here and what i mean(in my head) is a chap of perfection...now you're gonna comment on chap are'nt you???!and don't ever question my respect of Klaus,he's my hero!!P.S.XXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • I love him!

  • just remixed some grphics for another klaus song.come see

  • Klaus Nomi is amazing...idk why but i really got into his music...i was cracking up at first but now i'm starting to like some of hiz music
