  • i have a problem with the applying uppdates :o what should i do couse its just on 0 %?

  • BTW Linux has some screen recorders through the Ubuntu Software Center. Just saying you don't need to use a camera. c:

  • roody-poo candy-ass

  • Nice desk setup. :D All your gaming bases on one table.

  • You are ally, so you are gay

  • PlayOnLinux It's a front-end for Wine which makes it easier to install stuff.

  • haha @ phone ringing

  • Ubuntu does not have:

    Xfire support

    Ventrilo support

Yeah you can run them, but they do not work like they should.

  • @nazi8per Ubuntu might not have ventrilo support or any linux distro fro that matter. HOWEVER when I game on linux I use a free open source program called mangler. It can connect to any ventrilo server.

  • Is it slower playing games on Ubuntu like lag / frame rate e.t.c.?

  • @J0RDSKI World of warcraft runs better in ubuntu with WINE than it does in widows. as for other games from soucr (IE L4D or fear 2), i have yet to try them.

  • @Breathoffog hi mate, so how did L4D go because i download windows 7 from piratebay and its cool but im looking at the videos on youtube and it seems that ubuntu is lighter so it wont lag as much as in windows 7, please let me know of how did L4D and Fear 2 Do, THANKZ

  • @xMaJiiCz FEAR 2 runs with some issues and lag. WINE 1.2 stable just came out and I gota check it out with that one. The reason WoW runs so good is because you can set it to run in open GL, which is where linux really shines. I havnt tried L4D yet, but assuming it ran OK in this video im guessing its gotten better.

  • @xMaJiiCz Let's make it simple. Any game that is designed for Windows WILL run faster in Windows than it would run in Linux. Even using OpenGL, performance could be comparable, but you would still get more fps running Windows to run Windows programs, just like you would get more fps running 3D Linux applications in Linux than you would running 3D Linux apps in Windows.

  • @MisterMCFreeze

Actually this is not true, most people playing WoW in particular notice some fps improvement, I myself gained 10-15 fps in graphically intense areas such as Dalaran. (all with same graphics settings ofc)

  • so you used wine?

  • how do you get on the terminal....look like your on that 0:45-1:28...how do u get on that

  • when you say its slow, can't it be your computer? not the OS?

  • its the computer

i have Wow III Reign Of Chaos Its More than slow!!!!!!!

  • @ChildAdvent987 Different game, different computer. You don't post specs and neither does he. Assumptions with no basis will get you nowhere.

  • dude.. i installed ubuntu and wine. then i run the game ... its so laggy u cant imagine :O SO LAG!!! U need to wait 1 min when other frame ... well i think Linux Ubuntu NOT good for gamings :D I think that Linux is best for servers like for WOW Servers or CSS or something..

  • Umm, theres certain tweaks you're supposed to do before you play that fix the gfx

  • @Rogueixpresents, Have u installed ur graphic card ?

And tell me about ur Computer.

  • @ChildAdvent987 2gm ram, fail graphics card . windows xp

  • Im pretty certain that Linux is far more secure than windows hence why all mainframe servers and defence systems use Linux, but then I dont know this personally.

  • military uses Windows XP. it is VERY secure all our linux systems are only used for programs that need to be quick fixed.. ie air traffic reporting.. or our Radar displays.. if we have a problem with it.. it only takes 10 minutes to fix.. as opposed to a program by adobe.. taking months to fix.. that is the only reason the military uses linux

  • @deltadiv yeah we know the military use Windows Gary Mackinnon told us all about it, he used the default windows password.

The Telecoms giants and banks use linux however.

  • i use linux mint and i just ran it with crossover games

  • its slow

  • is it easy to get wow working on ubuntu*? and how is the latency:)?

  • dude, put it in window fullscreen in windows, use alt+tab, shouldn't hang.

I play on mac, windows, pc, i really can't say any one is the best way to play.

I guess I'd say mac or pc is best, since its supported by blizzard, but I support linux 100%

  • this is amazing

but does any one know how to use Wine because i want to install some games but im not sure how to?

thats when i found crossover games but its only a trial so that sorta sucks

so if anyone could help me to install games in wine i would be greatful

  • install wine like any other program and then install wow just like you would do on a windows pc (insert disc and install)

  • omg... is world of warcraft really fun?

(i was thinking these big games and special effects would take up too much space or lag on windows... ubuntu kind of unlocks your computer. it makes it worth doing alot of terminal..ing) xD

  • he has the same computer as i do... what. the.... fuck!?!?!

  • if u have 2 monitors u can set it up so wowhead is on one monitor and wow on other, as far as i know u can only do this by making it windowed mode then full screen, witch reduces fps

  • I cant wait for linux to really take off will be great once everyone gets on it and all developers have to start catering for it.

  • it's best if people keep it on the downlow because then hackers will start going after the linux users. my cousin told me that linux is basically virus free but it's still as vulnerable as windows to hackers (w/e that means)

  • @50511911 Smart cousin =) "Secure" is a relative term. It's pretty much impossible to lock down either OS any more than the other. They both handle firewalls virtually the same, and they both have user exploits that will get some chaos outta the system. Linux does however have the benefit of being open source, so when there is a large scale issue it's fixed within days, sometimes hours.

  • @Danster82

    wont ever happen....

  • It's not a linux only bug it's happened to my on my xp desktop.

  • If your PC hangs it's because you were running in full screen mode, so it had to minimize the game and then pull up your desktop or w/e window you were trying to load. Try running wow in windowed mode + full screen and you should see a lot better performance from it on that front.

    Good video.

  • But if you play it that way, you will lost a lot of FPS. When I do this on my Vista, 8800gt, I get around 40 fps in WoW.

I'm so gonna install Ubuntu next time i reformat! :)

  • That "bug" that happens with the quest giver And the cursor Dissapearing happens with my Windows pc aswell so i guess its not a linux only bug :)

  • hey, u are saying that if u play the newest games like Call of Duty 4 that its that u stick with Windows...

but if u wanna play games like Team Fortress 2

    or Counter-Strike..

do u need to stick with Windows too then ?

or can u play it too on Ubuntu ?

  • All the source games work with WINE but if you're a big gamer I would definitely make sure you at least have a partition for XP because most new games don't work with WINE.

  • @supreme2lol you can play all those games that you said on ubuntu

  • @supreme2lol oh yes old comment saying cod4 is new

  • that happens to me sometimes the curser thing but im on xp lol

  • Now that I've been playing WoW more, I've noticed that the cursor thing doesn't really happen anymore... I don't know why... It's kinda weird =P

  • im on win. xp do u think i should switch to Ubuntu?

  • What do you mostly use your computer for? If you keep up with the gaming scene and play mostly new games like Call of Duty 4 then I would stick to Windows because thats what most games are native to. However, if you don't really game I would definitely at least give it a try. I dual-boot Ubuntu and XP so I can play games like Call of Duty 4 that don't work on linux, but then I can switch back and do anything else on Ubuntu.

  • wow is the only game i play but mainly for the internet.

  • Ya, I would definitely try out Ubuntu.

  • lol... I gest installed ubuntu but i have a question i got a 40gb hard drive when i run wine and lanch the instaler it said not a nuph space please help me...lol do i have to install it in a defrent folder?

  • When you run the install for a game?
