I have been having that for two years already and I LOVE IT. Light, sturdy and very easy to use. I use it with other two lenses for the old OM series (you can easily get an adapter for about 19 bucks) and its very interesting. Low light is a little bit tricky and white balance is not as intuitive as a Canon by itself. It is the best choice I made in a couple of years.
My dad had a E 500 for a couple of years that it had a card problem...it was a very good camera, then got this one which is even faster and better....also a pretty good camera for the price.
@EmuinMacha ....and then what? keep staring at them!? Keep saving money n chase the technology!? Grow up. all cameras are good. im a canon user so u know, and the guys like u fucking pisses me off all u do is whine about what is best n whats not. pro's use leica so STFU with ur canon n nikon stuff. Pro camera wont make u a pro just remember that. Back to photography....
I love this camera It does not take video and as most Dslr the on board flash is useless always spend a bit of money for a good flash.. and sometimes has a funny white balance that seems to wash pics out if your not carefull I hardly ever take the camera out of the manual mode so autofocas issues hardly never a issue for me.

Do not buy this camera! I purchased one and it's rubbish. Consider either Canon, Nikon or Sony. It is made in China-and boy can you tell with the quality. The flash goes into hyper drive before taking a photo. Very poor from Olympus.
wo at this model u can attach , another kind the lens ? tokina's , tamron's, or sigma lens to ? and how good it'S the buffer ? how manny pictures can do until the buffer it's full ? tx
I own e-520 since it hit the market in 08. Before buying one, I did go through a lot of research and visits to camera shops for over a period of 1 month. I love the picture quality. As an amateur myself I recommend e520 as the better entry level camera in comparison to cannon and Nikon (no offence, I love cannon too) However, I am still struggling with its flash composition, as it keeps blinking before it shoots. Somebody has better idea on how to fix this problem?
I just purchased my e 520 today as well, I'm new to DSLR, I look forward to taking great photos and editing them. I was going to get a sony DSLR that was similarpricing, i hope i made the right choice. since I'm a newbie I'm quite clueless with some terminology, anyways keep up the good work.
i just bought the e-520. it's my first dslr. if all goes well then early next year i'll try to get the zuiko 12-60mm which i believe will be a great combo!
i believe the 520 & 420 are very comparable. they have the same sensor. from what i'm told, the main difference is that the 420 doesn't have built in image stabilization.
i really want to get a nice camera, but i am a total noob at photography.
I like how people can take photos at night with these strong cameras and how they can focus on the, for example, the person in front and blur the background. (whats that effect called?)
and is this camera good for a starter in respect to ease of use and function and quality?
Wazzuupp! If you are really interested in learning about photography(digital) then an SLR is a good idea, however you can take photo's at night and do blured backgrounds on a compact zoom if you know what you are doing.I use Canons and can recommend them, my one experiece of Olympus was not a good one.If you want an introductory SLR I would say Nikon D40 or D50, or Canons 400D or new 450D if you've got some cash. But you need to have an interest or you may as well stick with a point and shoot!
Its good that drevTV is no long like this crap :)

buy the olympus beacuse the glass is the best in the industry
you can get 34mm = to 28-200 with a f of 2.0 and 180-500 2.8
plus look thru the pics of olympus dslr on pbase and see the superb IQ
it took olympus over 4 years to make a new semi-pro model nikon and canon make a new one every 1-2 years
canon and nikons drop in price way faster beacuse of this,
olympus thinks about the best way to approve,,,,,, E-1 vs E-3 was a giant change

I feel this has a much better hand grip than Nikon's D60. Zuiko lenses are some if not the best glass around.
I like Olympus myself.

This should actually kill a G7. This one's and SLR, the G7/G9, a point and shoot.

I think yes. because it's very easy to use, has an image stabilisation which is REALLY important and of course 10mgpx and a lot more. :)
i also use olympus (e410) but i wish to have 520.
