  • sweet!

  • Love Karl Wallinger - this band is a perfect definition of political liberalism throughout their discography. Especially enjoy the uncredited Sinead O'Connor in this video; Karl helped her out on the Lion & the Cobra just after (also uncredited).

  • World party. The word says. that there is nothing made that is not made that I did not make. And I give you all things. He sent his only to begotton son to take away the sins of the world. KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. You have been free trom your very first breath. God gives us free will. And if some one is telling you different. I wounder who they might be.?

What are the sins of the fathers.? IF not the oppression of the truth.

wake up you people of this time.

  • This wad the first time I saw Sinead on MTV.

  • This band is so good and so talented. It came to my home town Boston Ma USA Im guessing 1987? and I went to see them. The talent was unreal. They played some other tunes as well like Beatles and nailed it all, I mean really great! They would have had many more collaborations had they been around 10 years earlier.

    Keep on keepin on!

  • Fuck me that's Sinead o Connor, what a honey!

  • @milesanddizzy ... no fuck her.. hopefully every one in the band did...

  • It's the ghost of John lennon!lol //-00\\

  • Hahaha. Singing into a D12 kick drum microphone??

  • was that sinead o connor?

  • Eh Carl Zimmer. Read the evolution baby. Want an evolution baby come to set you free..

  • There is know weapon formed that is not of me that can pennetrate your armor. When this weapon reveals its self .it will be against religions Bandits jessus said you have to belive in me and i am coming BACK. private revalution

    .

  • Man this reminds me so much of my teens ....nothing to worry about , no mortgage,no loans , no stress ......fantastic time , fantastic music - I used to sit in a bar in Germany every Saturday afternoon , just drinking and listening to music like this ....no cares etc ......wish I could turn the clock back ......World Party , Waterboys ,New Radicals,Teras for Fears, Cocteu Twins , Scritti ......where did music go wrong??

  • Love this song, loved the whole Waterboys/World party scene, in the late 80's. Ship of Fools and This is the Sea, were albums that changed my view of music and showed how much love could be given out by writing and playing for the love of it!

  • Thinking back now seeing this video on the telly made me the buy the album. Loved it ever since. On Vinyl oh yeah!

  • Lol my mum and dad got married under that tree, its gone now tho. :(

  • 3:13 sinead doing the robot lol

  • Very Low-fi

  • This was the first time I ever saw Sinead and I remember thinking she was the oddest thing I had ever seen. Little did I know how famous she would become. I love her voice.

  • this song could have be written by prince...! not their best track, but a good one anyway.

  • OMG i see sinead ...????? this is from 1986 are some so it must be before her big career..? Great great

  • unbelievable. Ship of fools, way down now and this song are really brilliant. What about all their other songs. I never hearded them so....:) are the songsi named from the same LP album?

  • Semplice, ma Naif....

  • Had no idea Sinead was on this track until now...!

  • @barkbarkbarkbarkable - karl wallinger discovered sinead o' connor and handed her her career on a silver plate. little known fact.

  • Can anyone tell me if World Party covered Bob Dylan's "All I Really Want To Do" and if it exists on youtube? I feel like I have a dim memory of this.

  • @nancybee77 Yes, it is on the Private Revolution album.

  • Sinead's funny.

  • wow, i have to say this kind of music is so weird, it's like, how do people listen to it......no offense to the singers but, i've always wondered what the deal was

  • Isn't it wonderful to see such a happy Sinead?

  • Awesome song - pity about Sinead's dance moves though hahaha

  • @Hypermammal Frankly, Sinead never really had any dance moves...EVER. I think the only reason she's on the video is that she was working on her first album for the same record label at the time. I still think that album, "The Lion and the Cobra" holds up as her best.

  • excellent. been waiting for this online forever...thx lyrically!

  • "If you say you want a revolution, baby,

There is nothing like your own" brilliant lyrics! 5 pies OOOOO

lmao @ Sinead O doing the Lost in Space robot dance

  • i always seemed to like the singers voice. so distinct and different. When I first heard this song I thought it was Mick Jagger. I like the other song they have called Ship of Fools good song.

  • omigosh.....thanks for posting this...I had all but forgotten it...and I really loved this song.

Karl Wallinger was a dude ahead of his time.

  • love sineads cute dancing!

  • This is one of the best songs of all time.

  • World Party rocks! Too true about the influence on my life. These guys and Midnight Oil...wake up call kinda stuff.

  • is that sinead o connor givin it socks - awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • I'd have to say you're right.

  • I love this song.

     I love this video.

  • For Iran!! Free yourselves!

    Peacefully.

  • I played this album over and over. I still have the tape. This is one of the songs of the soundtrack of my life. God only knows how much the music of World Party shaped me. Blessings and honor to any and all prepared to listen. It is difficult to express my admiration for their stand on moral issues. The whole world was going mad around me. The cold war. My parents were divorcing and my friends were taking drugs and taking their lives. Then this song came along. How do I say thank you? love al

  • Well said! I came looking for this video for the very same reasons. Amazing stuff.

  • ye know nobody I knew was into them way back when where I am. Fair play man/woman.

  • @alexleitch37 I didn't know standing for Tyranny was taking a stand for moral issues! This guy is a Marxist...fyi

  • @ConservativeAnthem Well if that is true, why does that mean World Party did not take a stand for moral issues. I stand by my comment all the same. My sense of morality was shaped by bands like World Party, The Call, U2 and Peter Gabriel. If i want to seek the perfect human being to admire I will find Jesus. The members of World Party are not religious perfect beings they are musicians. I do not worship them or expect perfection from them. I simply admire them and thank them from my heart. :)

  • I remember listening (on tape!) and chilling to this song and the album from whence it came so vividly...... Greek island hoping at the time. Ahh the summer of 1989, the sunset of a GREAT decade of such a variety of mostly great music that really has never been surpassed!! Imitated but never bettered... yet. Thanks for the posting.... brings great memories taken from the shelf, dusted off and made me smile.

  • No Joke, I'm having a bit of my own private revelution!! lol-xoxo-Meda

  • such a cool & positive tune this is! we need more of these kinds! plus little sinead O'Connor looks quite beautiful & cool in this too ^^

  • Greetings from friends in Kansas City!

    Nam myoho renge kyo...

    Love, love, love ya baby!

  • greetings, this is my fav song, and not just because of the music!

  • Indeed...it's not just the music. For me the IDEA is beautiful, I hope one day it comes true.

  • this is my favourite song at the moment, not only because of the music...just great.

  • This song was one of the first flickers of fire towards a movement of change. Too bad Baby Boomers were so fucked up engaged in materialism and greed, this overshadowed GREAT bands like this one trying to create change.

  • Brilliant song! Great Vid! Really shows you just how deliciously Hot sinead O Conner is/was despite all her political angst. Music isn't fun like this any longer- too bad eh?

  • Where is Max Eddie.I thought she was with them.

  • Absolutely LOVE WORLD PARTY!!!

Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know-Is that Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers playing keyboards?? If so, was he just sitting in or what?

  • Karl is cooler than Prince!

  • brilliant writer, singer and player

  • I didn't know that Sinead O'Conner was a decorated war hero.

  • Only for lentil-weaving and services to inverted fascism

  • Some great lyrics in the song, reminds me of the 1980s, I think after 1990's things have really gone downhill. We are still in dire need of this revolution to sweep away this rotten capitalist money grabbing system we live in. Of course it will never happen as we know it :)

  • Right on! I agree with you. If you research modern history, you will see materialism and greed really began with the industrial revolution. Generations in the 1920s struggled with the same things we are pissed off about.

  • I haven't seen this video in eons, thanks for posting it! This is the bounciest/catchiest protest song I can think of...

  • I remember World Party. I was in 9th grade when this came out.

  • Haven't heard this for years. Hugely underrated band.

  • sinead is a spaaaasss

  • sinead shure can dance! Is that the same tree XTC used for " Dear God" video?

  • Good song...the lead singer had a Van Morrison-kinda thing going with his vocals!

  • wow Sinead looks great. must be nice to be around intelligent people.

  • the last songwriter in rock music. karl sealed the barrel. it's over. thanks karl. btw people, we;re still in bushco. BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID.

  • God I loved this song and video, and its been 2 decades since I last saw it! I really do miss the '80s. Those were such good years to me.

  • Karl worked on Sinead's first album, THE LION AND THE COBRA. I hope Karl is feeling better these days. He's had a long recovery from the aneurysm.

  • Kinda love World Party!!!

  • i like that sinead's enjoying herslef, and not ripping up pictures of religious figures. great song.

  • Haha, for real...it's interesting to see Sinead actually having fun, instead of being the world's biggest downer

  • This takes me back to my student days - some good memories

  • I used to be a huge fan as a small child, this brings back memories!

  • Love this song!

  • This song World Party of course was one of my all time favorites..no kidding such memories

  • that's sinéad! those were the days

  • Thanks for posting this! Got any from Jumbo Lives?

  • If you want a revolution baby there is nothing like your own ... revolution lies at home. The music itself is insanely sappy, but the genius of Karl Wallinger is about turning pop music on its head. Great lyrics ... and Sinead O'Connor offering entertainment with background vocals and backup dancing? Hmmm.

  • it's actually karl on backing vocals - at least on the album - and he plays all the other instruments too. brilliant, aye.

  • Am I totally off or is Sinead O'Connor in this video???

  • yes

  • a bit strange but nice
