actually Rex could have lived. If instead of pulling the rods out of them, she could have pulled herself out of the rods while leaving them in him, so she wouldnt open his arteries and cause him to bleed to death. But he was abusive anyway, so if sure she was happy to be responsible for his death.

Actually it was set up so she would have to decide who lives or dies. If they were all left in when Riggs came she would've died and Rex lives,so doctors to do something, and if she pulled them out then she lives and Rex dies.

In the first Saw, Jigsaw left Adam to die. So he almost certainly left Dr. Gordon to die as well. If he helped them, he would be breaking the rules and interfering with the game. The only other people who knew about the game were Zepp (killed by Adam), Tapp (Shot by Zepp) and Allison & Diana (They were still in thier house). So nobody would be there to help Dr. Gordon, resulting in his death.
