I don't like tutorials telling you to download something first. What's the point in teaching people something when you ask them to download half of it first? Besides, things like that can be tought on a single page that can be read in 2 minutes instead of babbling along for a quarter hour.

Have you seen other tutorials out there? They point you to a pre-made file and don't even care to explain it to you. The Tutvid guy just provides the nonessential elements pre-made so one can follow along.

I agree with you somewhat, but at least he gets the job done.

It's a ripoff unless you are getting paid as a graphic designer, or otherwise would make money off it. Just crack it if you want to play around. If you do want a free alternative that is legal, check out Inkscape.
