I'm not impressed,to be honest i've seen guys n girls like her in Guitar Center every time i go...Would like to see her tackle some Symphony X or Dream Theater material..Then,i might be interested.
I gotta say, this amp sounds great. I can tell because I've got Cube 20 XL and it blows my mind. The only thing about it is that its quite weak for small gigs, so I'm definitely gonna buy 80 XL.
Its a long running youtube joke. But it doesnt change the fact the lizzy there is pathetic at jazz playing. Not that I am any better (just learning!).
If you guys want to see a real review of this amp from a musician that has a broad range of style to his playing...then I suggest you watch Rob "Chappers" Chapman's (RobChappers on YouTube) videos. Not only can he play like a mother fucker, but he can also record this amp to the purest of it's own timbre.
Not saying anything bad about the chick in this video, because she's obviously got skills. But outside of her own genre, that is death metal...I think she falls short on this review.
Man, this is horrible tone coming from that cube. I've seen other videos where this cube really sound great! Also, what the hell was with that "jazz" example? That wasn't jazz at all, that was a kindergarten level chord plucking pattern. Keep to the metal, thank you. It's obvious you're a lot better at that.
@TurkeyTuck Just because I like videogames doesn't mean I don't play guitar ;) I've been playing guitar for almost 13 years now and I write jazz and several other genres. That doesn't mean I'm a virtuoso at all though. In fact, I'll be the last one to call myself that. But I do know that that "jazz example" thing was really, really bad. How does she even dare to call that jazz? It's just plucking a couple of barre chords that you learn in the first months of guitar lessons =/
@TurkeyTuck When she's playing metal she does sound impressive however. I'm just suggesting she stays with that genre, because she's good at that. She really doesn't seem to have any idea what jazz is, which is actually quite strange. Her metal playing is impressive, showing that she must understand music beyond basic level. Then why is she playing such a terrible "jazz" example? :/
I tried one of these amps a couple weeks ago against the advise of the owner of the guitar shop.
I completely understand why he told me not to even bother. The sound is very muddy if you add any amount of gain and I don't care for the clean channel at all, either.I sincerely doubt that you can even get it to sound as decent as it does in the video.
@theelfman - Really? Well, kick-in another 2500 USD and you can have a nice Blackstar/Soldano/Orange head. Naturally, you'll have to come up with another 650-or-so for the 4 x 12. Even so, the clean sound with the chorus won't be any better...
@MarcusWellf bullshit....you can get a way better tone with a 500 to 600 dollar amp. bugera amps for example or a peavey 6505+ 112 combo are way better
@Heretic123456 - The clean channel on those amps is inferior to the Roland Cube (JC120 - best alternative to a Fender Twin). As far as the lead channel, I do not know how the Roland sounds since I believe the distortion in this video is coming her playing along with the studio track. Therefore, you may be right about that...
@MarcusWellf - I think heretic is right. The gain is much better on the amps he mentioned. then again, so is every amp's. remember, distortion is not roland's forte-at all. However, you are right about the clean. i also think she is just playing along with the cd and not through the amp on her tunes. That rock example she did use with the roland's distortion sounded pretty shitty too.
Her playing is pretty cool no-ones debating that, but the amp is so incredibly bad its not worth listening, there are versatile tube amps that dont send you bankrupt just need to shop around.
@MegaBeartrap The settings used her are pretty bad, the amp is fantastic in my opinion, all of the roland cube amps sound great if you know what you're doing
@crosshairs3 I just have the Micro Cube, but I absolutely love it! ...and they are built like tanks, almost literally! I would buy another one if I ever did break it, which is highly unlikely.
