I always had this vision of Spock being married to her, and it ending up just like his father. Where Christine just kind of stays behind on Vulcan, faded off into the background and lives out a lonely life on her own, while he's always out saving the world..worlds. I am SUCH a nerd

IMO, Sarek was a big time romantic! He was just a little hard on his boy because he wanted Spock to prove to Vulcan that he wasn't weak for being half human, but just as good as any pure Vulcan. Poor Spock obviously taking his harsh treatment as a sign that Sarek didn't think of him too highly.
