I remember watching this that night & completely missed the kiss, I was more concerned about Julianne's head bouncing off the floor. I don't think I would have ever noticed the kiss if so much hadn't been made of it, to me it was a performance, plain & simple & I still don't understand what all the ruckus was about. if you thought the kiss was spontaneous, you're clearly missing something. Watch The Mask and you'll understand why he kisses her. He doesn't do it the second time in the encore performance because everyone was expecting it and they wanted to change it up.

At this point , no one knew he and his girlfreind broke up, so it makes him look like a dog for cheating on his girlfreind. Why is it even a question if the kiss is real or not? the kiss was PLANNED. Look up Hey Pachuco! from the movie the Mask. They're wearing almost identical outfits dancing to the same song..and at the end Jim Carrey surprises Cameron Diaz with a kiss and then drops her to the ground. the reason why they didn't kiss the second time around was because they wanted to keep surprising the audience. they said it themselves.
