You'd like to see DICE add to the Battlefield Multiplayer? How? You can't exactly add full scale TDM, FFA, or Fetch modes to the large maps and team-based focus of the game. I personally can't really think of other game modes, with the exception of an escort mode, which is similar to Rush.

@DaClexxx you act as if im a huge call of duty fan, as i've expressed many times to many people on here, i am not, yes i do like those games, but about the same as i like battlefield games, i actually havent even played the Black ops multiplayer (although the single player was very good), and i've played Modern warfare 2 multiplayer probably a total of 10 times since buying the game (and thats probably an OVER estimation)
@DaClexxx consider the fact that i reviewed the release version, no add ons. i am sure the game has become much better since it originally released, but i cant review games in hindsight, i have to review games how they are when they first release.

this game sucks now. it used to be good but all the game modes are broken except squad deathmatch which in my opinion isnt that good. its way to repetitive and gets boring fast i think im going to sell it but idk if i need it to recover my medal of honor beta code

Call of Duty is #1 most played game on XBL and Playstation network, Beating Halo, Killzone, Viva pinata, and Battlefield,(those are all shooters right?) & Every other shooter out there. This game (nor any other one most likely) does not and probably will not ever Dethrown it from that spot... but like i said in the video "ITS STILL A GREAT GAME AND YOU SHOULD PLAY IT!"

Monkey there's actually 4 game modes online not 3 : Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch, Rush and Conquest. There's also a new mode coming in a patch ( I'm sure it's free for PC but not sure for consoles) that modes future 4 players coop against an army of bots kind of like Spec Ops in MW2 but with 4 players

@rippdy if you read all the responses ive made in regard to this, as well as the "annotation" on the video that explains... saying "sound design" was a misspeak by me, The overall sound design is good, sound effects guns explosions, ambiance, all great.. what i meant was voice acting and soundtrack.. i was fighting off a flu at the time, so i made that mistake, i apologize, but i've done everything i can at this point to "correct" the issue, please watch videos with annotation ON, it helps

Right about some things especially the short variety of map packs but come on,mw2 = 12 year old kids camping,enough glitches to solve the economic crises,to much of an arcade feeling.battlefield = bigger maps campers allways get spoted,glitch free,better weapons,realistic killing,just better overall.

i personally prefer call of duty because i hate snipers and they are much more prominent in battlefield, but both are good games and different enough to warrant owning both.

DON"T listen to what this guy said about the games sound. The sound in this game is FANTASTIC and you would be doing yourself a huge disservice if you didn't use a surround sound setup. Their are so many "Oh Shit!" moments in this game when there are explosions cascading all around you as your eardrums are blown out while the building next to you is being rip apart by tank fire. It's an incredible, intense experience.

Well, first of all you say the sound is bad. Can I have some of what you are smoking?
Second, you say the multiplayer does not have a lot of replay value... ok, so only 8 maps, but do you realize, compared to pretty much any other console game, these maps are HUGE and VARIED.
Also, the gameplay is very varied. You arent just constantly shooting people, you are resuplying ammo, reviving and healing, repairing vehicels and calling in mortar strikes.
@CowHoofOnAHotPlate if you go back and look at other responses i've had to people with the same issues you would see that, by bad sound i meant Voice acting and soundtrack.. i misspoke by saying bad sound design, because the sound effects are decent.
Multiplayer isnt varied because there are 3 modes... i was disappointed that they are the same modes that they keep rehashing in every single battlefield game.. its annoying because im a fan of the series, and i just know that they can do better
@CowHoofOnAHotPlate number of maps in hindsight isnt an issue, moreso that there are 3 modes and the objective on 2 of them is identical
gameplay IS varied.. VERY varied.. and i even said in my review that its good, and if you look at my score, i gave it a 9 on gameplay.. which is damn near perfect, (i only do full numbers in each catagory, but i would have given it a 9.5 in that catagory if i could)
7 for presentation because voice acting and story are poor is what brought the score down

I don't think Battlefield will add new multiplayer modes, they tried adding the new Gold Rush or whatever it was called in the first Bad Company and people complained that there was no Conquest mode so they really don't have that much of an incentive to innovate. Not to mention that games like Battlefield 2 have Conquest mode only and here we have Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch.
I really appreciate the integrity of this reviewer. He keeps it honest. As far as reviews for anything, from games to the best toilet paper for your money, it's hard to find reviewers whom aren't swayed by an ulterior motive(aka cash). There's serious money in game development nowadays(keeps us little cubicle ridden citizens content with the sad state of our lives), and honestly I find the majority of mainstream web reviewers off base because of this. im considering to buy bf:bc2 but i like splinter cell conviction too... which should i buy.. i used to have the demo of both games on my 360 and i liked both of them... i never liked splinter cell before but the new game is completely diferent.and i always like bf..(and destruction =D )
@jaguarjay13 you would probably be better off getting battlefield, and renting splinter cell.. they are both really good, but splinter cell has a little less replay value, not by that much,

as for the sound effects yes you are right they are great, as i responded to someone else, it was a case of bad wording by me, what i meant was the voice acting was bad, and the soundtrack was bland.
i agree the character models aren't "horrible" but i had to mention it because it was enough to lover the 10 in graphics to a 9 (which is the same score you gave it consequently)
I dealt with spawn kills when i played, perhaps they patched the game since i reviewed it (i played it the very first week it was out)
ur one of the few reviewers who actually gives the game an honnest score. bought it and at the moment i am having a shit load of fun with the mp, but the singleplayer is a bit meh

@SupermarketsRevil EA is simply the Publisher, they have little say in the development other than giving the developers a release date to stick to. i have confidence in DICE that they can be creative, they just didnt show it very well in this one

Look at what happened to bungie and rareware after some time with Microsoft. Ahh well..some companies value profits above all, others value good games, depends on who's making the decisions at the time.

@TheMonkeyMan322 If you look into the history of bungie since its inception and read the various interviews that were done with the main staff, you see how the company profile changed over the years. MS took over bungie during development of the original halo, if memory serves me. Bungie did very well in making the halo series, but by the end of it they were extremely frustrated with MS's authoritarian leadership, which is why they left.
@TheMonkeyMan322 Creativity and innovation in games almost exclusively comes from either small companies or the good larger companies that don't pump out games too often. Rareware titles such as Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark turned to shit after going to MS. The bond titles turned to shit after Rare's goldeneye, when EA got the bond license. Some companies are just in it for the money...
@TheMonkeyMan322 I just went from playing Bad company 2, to Metro, 2033.. It's incredible to go from a generic classic EA style bland shooter to immersive, unique and well made game like Metro 2033.

Activision is who is pissing me off right now, they took one of my favorite series Guitar hero and threw it through the mud. and it feels like they are about to do that too the call of duty series now too.. which is sad cause those are some fun games.

I think you were pretty harsh in terms of scores. Even with it's flaws, this game deserves at least a 9.5
The graphics are great (although textures are very low res, they look blurry from close up), destructions are awesome, the sound is unprecedented in any game!!!
@BeBarnee i dont just pick a score out of 10 randomly, the score is decided scientifically with a formula. Each catagory is looked at, and if there is ANYthing wrong with the catagory at all i give it a 9 (if it doesnt interfere with fun) the score for each catagory goes down based on severity, and then averaged out in the end.
this game got 9 in graphics and gameplay, which means it looks amazing and is very fun to play

and if i dont say the guns feel bad, then the guns feel good, thing is, most games have guns that feel good to use, so if i say that in all the reviews it becomes redundant.
on sound effects, i just dropped the ball on that, i should have mentioned it, but again, i did this whole review while i was sick

I honestly think he just doesnt agree with my opinion, and some people are so dense that they will say a review sucks just because they dont agree 100%, but our review process is pretty straight forward, and i explained why it got the score it got. some people just think an 8 is a horrible score, and its NOT.. i was personally disappointed with the game because they continually dont add anything to the multiplayer, and that is very disappointing to me.

You realise the devs won best sound design for bc1 , now I do agree the music isnt heart warming but all I want is damn fine guns sounds and blood curdling screams not some namby pamby music. This has the best battle sounds of any game I have played and I bet Ive played more games than you. Also you play consoles so your opinion doesnt matter :D
@BATTERIESc yes, i guess saying Sound design was my bad on my part, the game has great gun sounds great vehicle sounds and sound effects, what i meant was bad voice acting and soundtrack, which are a part of sound design, so its really just a case of using the wrong word rather than a differing opinion.. cause it sounds like we agree on the matter

I'd have to say I disagree with a lot of this review. People who are strapped down by FPS games only will most definitely have problems playing this game. And BTW, switch the heli controls to Bad Co1 controls and invert the flight sticks, and boom...it's actually pretty easy to fly.
@bkeele i didnt say it was hard to fly the heli's, just that it took getting used to.. i was actually pretty successful in flying it later on, just didnt get any of that footage in the review cause it wasnt very exciting

Monkey there's actually 4 game modes online not 3 : Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch, Rush and Conquest. There's also a new mode coming in a patch ( I'm sure it's free for PC but not sure for consoles) that modes future 4 players coop against an army of bots kind of like Spec Ops in MW2 but with 4 players

@rippdy if you read all the responses ive made in regard to this, as well as the "annotation" on the video that explains... saying "sound design" was a misspeak by me, The overall sound design is good, sound effects guns explosions, ambiance, all great.. what i meant was voice acting and soundtrack.. i was fighting off a flu at the time, so i made that mistake, i apologize, but i've done everything i can at this point to "correct" the issue, please watch videos with annotation ON, it helps

i personally prefer call of duty because i hate snipers and they are much more prominent in battlefield, but both are good games and different enough to warrant owning both.

@SwordsDragonsAndCoke any modes would have sufficed, Even if they would have thrown in the tired mainstays like capture the flag, But like i said in the video, i would really like to see them start being creative with the game modes instead of this color by numbers approach (which is what Call of duty has become as well mind you) There is a part in the single player which has you defending a satelite.. that would have made an EXCELLENT mutli mode, w/ a time limit for the enemy to destroy it

DON"T listen to what this guy said about the games sound. The sound in this game is FANTASTIC and you would be doing yourself a huge disservice if you didn't use a surround sound setup. Their are so many "Oh Shit!" moments in this game when there are explosions cascading all around you as your eardrums are blown out while the building next to you is being rip apart by tank fire. It's an incredible, intense experience.

Well, first of all you say the sound is bad. Can I have some of what you are smoking?
Second, you say the multiplayer does not have a lot of replay value... ok, so only 8 maps, but do you realize, compared to pretty much any other console game, these maps are HUGE and VARIED.
Also, the gameplay is very varied. You arent just constantly shooting people, you are resuplying ammo, reviving and healing, repairing vehicels and calling in mortar strikes.
It is anything but not varied.

gameplay IS varied.. VERY varied.. and i even said in my review that its good, and if you look at my score, i gave it a 9 on gameplay.. which is damn near perfect, (i only do full numbers in each catagory, but i would have given it a 9.5 in that catagory if i could)
7 for presentation because voice acting and story are poor is what brought the score down

I don't think Battlefield will add new multiplayer modes, they tried adding the new Gold Rush or whatever it was called in the first Bad Company and people complained that there was no Conquest mode so they really don't have that much of an incentive to innovate. Not to mention that games like Battlefield 2 have Conquest mode only and here we have Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch.

I really appreciate the integrity of this reviewer. He keeps it honest. As far as reviews for anything, from games to the best toilet paper for your money, it's hard to find reviewers whom aren't swayed by an ulterior motive(aka cash). i agree the character models aren't "horrible" but i had to mention it because it was enough to lover the 10 in graphics to a 9 (which is the same score you gave it consequently)
I dealt with spawn kills when i played, perhaps they patched the game since i reviewed it (i played it the very first week it was out)

@TheMonkeyMan322 If you look into the history of bungie since its inception and read the various interviews that were done with the main staff, you see how the company profile changed over the years. MS took over bungie during development of the original halo, if memory serves me. Bungie did very well in making the halo series, but by the end of it they were extremely frustrated with MS's authoritarian leadership, which is why they left.

Rareware titles such as Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark turned to shit after going to MS. The bond titles turned to shit after Rare's goldeneye, when EA got the bond license. Some companies are just in it for the money...

Activision is who is pissing me off right now, they took one of my favorite series Guitar hero and threw it through the mud. and it feels like they are about to do that too the call of duty series now too.. which is sad cause those are some fun games.

I absolutely don't agree with you on the multiplayer being monotone, or having less replay value.
I played the demo (one map, only rush mode) for a full month, and didn't get tired of it at all.
The heart of Battlefield games is that every match is different!!!
10 maps, 4 modes, it's more than enough.
You just have to dedicate yourself to this game, and then you'll see it's full entity!

Rush debuted in the first Bad Company, so it can still be considered as a "new" mode.
Also team deathmatch and squad rush are ENTIRELY new to the battlefield franchise!!!
Team deathmatch is also unique, because it combines the squad element with the traditional free for all gamestyle.
Take these modes into consideration as well!!!

I think you were pretty harsh in terms of scores. Even with it's flaws, this game deserves at least a 9.5
The graphics are great (although textures are very low res, they look blurry from close up), destructions are awesome, the sound is unprecedented in any game!!!

@BeBarnee i dont just pick a score out of 10 randomly, the score is decided scientifically with a formula. Each catagory is looked at, and if there is ANYthing wrong with the catagory at all i give it a 9 (if it doesnt interfere with fun) the score for each catagory goes down based on severity, and then averaged out in the end.
this game got 9 in graphics and gameplay, which means it looks amazing and is very fun to play
multi an 8 for modes
presentation a 7 for story and sound
value an 8

I honestly think he just doesnt agree with my opinion, and some people are so dense that they will say a review sucks just because they dont agree 100%, but our review process is pretty straight forward, and i explained why it got the score it got. some people just think an 8 is a horrible score, and its NOT.. i was personally disappointed with the game because they continually dont add anything to the multiplayer, and that is very disappointing to me.

You realise the devs won best sound design for bc1 , now I do agree the music isnt heart warming but all I want is damn fine guns sounds and blood curdling screams not some namby pamby music. This has the best battle sounds of any game I have played and I bet Ive played more games than you. Also you play consoles so your opinion doesnt matter :D

@BATTERIESc yes, i guess saying Sound design was my bad on my part, the game has great gun sounds great vehicle sounds and sound effects, what i meant was bad voice acting and soundtrack, which are a part of sound design, so its really just a case of using the wrong word rather than a differing opinion.. cause it sounds like we agree on the matter

im definitely NOT hard to please, in face, the game performed well in everything but presentation (which is story and sound design combined)
here is our scoring breakdown
10 - nothing is wrong with this catagory at all)
9 - Minor issues, nothing makes the game less fun
8 - Minor issues, makes the game annoying at times, but not game breaking
7 - Moderate issues, Annoying, and slightly game breaking
6 (or below) - Major issues, score based on how debilitating the issues are ))

so for this game
Graphics - 9 - 1 point taken away for the character models
Gameplay 9 - 1 point taken away for minor glitches and issues
Presentation - 7 - 3 points taken away for the voice acting and a bad story
Multiplayer - 8 - 2 points taken away simply for lack of game modes, this is what disappointed me most, but its still ALOT of fun so i gave it an 8
Value 8 - overall replay value is lacking because of the lack of multiplayer modes
8.2 is a great score, some people forget that

I'd have to say I disagree with a lot of this review. People who are strapped down by FPS games only will most definitely have problems playing this game. And BTW, switch the heli controls to Bad Co1 controls and invert the flight sticks, and boom...it's actually pretty easy to fly.

@bkeele i didnt say it was hard to fly the heli's, just that it took getting used to.. i was actually pretty successful in flying it later on, just didnt get any of that footage in the review cause it wasnt very exciting
