@41maglover Using corn meal that's pretty much the way I do it anymore, just fill up the brass, seat a veggie wad over the cornmeal, then use a compression die to sink the concoction to the correct depth for seating the bullet. I don't use the bullet to compress simply because it can/will deform the bullet. I don't use it, but I understand that Cream of Wheat doesn't compress as well as the corn meal.
@FotoandT Thanks, I am getting into bp and want to make some gallery loads for my henry and colt. Not using the sizing die is a good idea for my henry for blowback. Very well done video.
@froglives Good catch. Sometimes my brain doesn't engage before my fingers act. In normal BP cartridges that are closer to full load I put the wad between the bullet and the filler. In Gallery Loads I put it over the powder under the filler in the theory that it will help the low powder charge push more evenly on the filler and bullet. Does it work better? Who knows, it's just my theory, I could be wrong.
Check out this experiment using a stun gun and what appears to be 4f Black Powder. /watch?v=-5Z5yAeO3dw - you will have to add the youtube prefix as it won't post with it included.
It's pretty obvious that static electicity is less of a problem with BP than some would have you believe.
very informative, well done sir. It does startle me a bit that you've got blackpowder in a plastic dispenser, however. Is GOEX a substitute? or real BP?
@cmasailor It is a long held myth that static electricity generated in a plastic container can ignite Black Powder, it CAN NOT. Swiss BP is even packaged in a plastic bottle!! There is NOT enough heat generated by static electricity to cause ignition. Although Lee customer service says don't use their powder dispensors for BP, the instruction insert plainly states "Safe for ALL powders". It's an attorney thing.
Nicely produced video. And, informative. I've been a BP rifle/pistol shooter for a long time and considering 45 Colt BP cartridges. Thanks so much.
