I have one of these, I tooks of the side pannels , replced the gear box with a 3speed, and put on a 12.5hp briggs opposed!! I have cut through 6ft high thick weeds and grass withvout it ever boggin down!! just need to get some belts
I have this same mower but not as nice as this one. I paid $100 2 years ago and it still runs. Where did you get the deck wheels at? I need them on mine to help keep the deck level.
@georei I bought this for £30, one of the cheapest Ive got. Spent maybe £5 on it, and sold it for a £147 profit.
Those were just two I had lying about. You could adapt anything to fit really, especailly if you have access to a welder.
Im sure you can get something suitable from ebay, or another tractor supply type place. Not sure what is best for that kinda stuff over in the states (:
I got a Murray bicycle, believe it or not! Murray made in my opinion the most POS sheetmetal tractors besides maybe MTD. at least they used to put some good motors on them, like this 8 horse Briggs and the old ones with the cast iron opposed twins.
Murray's are mostly build pretty badly, but I have to hand it to them, they generally made good looking tractors. And the decks (or aat least the red ones) seem to be painted really well.
well that was what i thought also, but i looked at it and it looks like a factory setup, o well all i care about is the fact that it works really good!
Na- i didnt mean yours- thats too nice to scrap- mine on the other hand was crap from the beginning- deck was fulla holes, trans didnt shift- engine ran but apparantly had been rebuilt before ( according to the guy i sold it to- he mentioned that when it blew up on him).
Its a good tractor to sell- i did have a like brand new RER murray ( newer style) but i sold it- i didnt like it, too small.
Man thats a super clean 8/30 Murray!!! Very nice man, I got one like it in my backyard, total rust pile though, saving the good parts, rest to be scraped. What year is that 8/30? Looks to be about a 87-92ish.
Yeah, I do know my stuff thats for sure, I spend alot of time reading about mowers online, lots of researching, I love mowers, I just find them so fansinating, but I could tell by the color scheme on it, I have had alot of Murrays through out te last 10 years, its easy for me tell roughly what year it is. Yeah its in super nice shape, too bad your selling it, it would be a nice one to keep! And your Welcome too!!
Well I only realy like the older, more unique ones. I bought it with the intention to fix and sell it, and now hopefully it will sell for at least £80
Yeah, I like them alot too, kinda a weird thing to like, but they're easy to work on, especially the engines, and make good off-roaders if you can't afford an ATV.

Wow, never heard of a Bicycle by them!

Gotta agree, they did use good engines!!!

I never understood my 8/30 has an 8hp tecumseh, but all the other ones Ive seen have Briggs on them. weird

Maybe it was replaced? Although I think I have seen one before with a Tecumseh

Wow- thats the same junk RER murray i have - i was gonna scrap it , but ill save the chassis for metal patches on other mowers.
Looks nearly brand new- in real great shape.

Wouldn't scrap a mower in this condition. It cleaned up really well. If I had the space I'd keep alot more tractors just for spares.
Thanks for the comment
