This song is so important to me. It's one of them songs where a bunch of my biggest memories were stored. I have so many flashbacks just listening to this song. But I do think you were a little critical with Alesha's vocal, she is a popular music vocalist and you will know that that's a million miles away from the 'professional' vocal styles aka opera, aria, oratorio etc. I don't find her voice to be bad at all :). She does have a slight Reggae sound to her voice in places of her range.

But I think its a shame that all singers are not even expected to have really good singing voices.She sounds just about okay on the track - as a musician yourself you'll know that's a lot of work in studio to get that. I saw her sing live and it was shocking. The best popular singer I think is Beyonce because she has more power behind her voice and a richer tone. Rihanna and Keri Hilson are the worst. I just think we should have higher expectations of artists.I love the song though!xxx

Yes I do fully agree with you! Oh gosh Rhianna can't sing for a fish supper! She sings through her nose and was signed so that those with no aurally musical ears and those who fancied her or liked her fashion style would buy her music. Beyonce is a phenominal vocalist I love how she left "If I Were A Boy" so raw that you could hear her sing out of tune on the record in places. She is just the best as is Leona Lewis! Oh I hate it when people don't call the Voice an instrument lol it is eh?
