Go see him 11/23/2008 @ McCabes in Santa Monica. No one performs like this man! It's easy to see why George Carlin picked him to open for him on his last tour.
I saw Vance in a little town in micgigan on a cold winters night in a small cramped coffee shop in the middle of no where, by far the best Performance i have ever seen.
Like many of the comments - I heard Vance at the George Carlin concert I recently attended and was totally blown away by his amazing performance of this song.
saw him live and also saw him at the carlin show, amazing both times, had a song about a drunk driver who hit a little girl that was real good too wish i could hear it again
I saw Vance for the first time Opening for George Carlin at my school, The College of New Jersey. I think he is amazing! Great voice, good sense of humor, and amazing music. He sang in acapella about Charlie and a Pigeon. That was my excellent. Iwanted to buy his CD, but to my misfortune I didn't have any money. Nonetheless, he gives a great show
ah yes, finally came across some vance on youtube. I too saw Vance open up for Carlin, but in Fort Myers. I was somewhat irritated at first to know Carlin wouldn't be out for a while, but soon enough I was captivated by Vance's skill and passion.
does anyone here happen to know the song, or the lyrics, of the final song he sang in the set that was acapella (lyrics, no guitar)? I thought that was a an esecially powerful song.
He's closed every one of his concerts that I've seen with an acapella song with a lyric "am I sheep or am I sheperd, let me know." I think that's the one you're thinking about. It's on his "one through fourteen" disc; a hidden track. You can get it at vancegilbert (dot) com. A lot of his stuff is not on iTunes, unfortunately. HTH!
I had the pleasure of seeing Vance open for George Carlin in Great Falls, Montana just about a year ago. This song in particular shattered me, it was just so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your video of Vance!
I saw Vance opening for George Carlin in Vegas. Absolutely incredibly performance. My only regret was that I didn't get a chance to meet him afterwards to apologize for never having heard him before that night. Needless to say, he made a huge fan after that night. If you don't get misty after hearing this song, then you have led a life free of pain. Either that or just lack a soul in general.
I just saw him open for Carlin here in MI. Wow!! what an amazing guitarist. Pretty funny guy as well. He did a great version of "Castles made of sand" by Hendrix. Does anyone know if it's on youtube?
i'm opening for him in 2 weeks!!!!!!!

It was filmed on my Sony P10 digital camera, not a video camera. It's song school, you don't bring all your AV equipment you pack light. :o)
