54 years on this damn planet and I can say this. They ain't never caught this Midnight Rider, ain't never gonna. I'm going on the road with Jesus, Duane, Jerry, and a whole lot of other riders. God Bless.
i just found out when my uncle lived in miami he saw these guys and traded a 12 string es-335 black gibson for a 57 telecaster. im 15 and he thought i would know who they are but my jaw dropped because i knew i was holdig a piece of music history.... (ive been playin guitar for 9 years)
This is one of my all favorite songs. This is one of those song where you can literally close your eyes and have a visual "Theatre Of The Mind" experience. Takes me back to cruisin around the backroads with the boys at about 17/18 years. Andy, Cory, Steve, Kelly, Sticky, Derek in the Polaris, or me in the Acadian with the "Chevy 10 sec Hop-Up" lol. Would be the middle of August @ 36 degrees celcius....playin Cat'N'Mouse!!!! Damn! Can virtually taste the dust! Awesome track. Dedicated to all th
I have gotten to the point that I just don't care for them if it's not this lineup. Gotta be Warren and Derek or I don't want to hear it. I have been a fan since the beginning too...
Love this song! Wonderful! "ONE MORE SILVER DOLLAR . . BUT I'm not gonna catch me no! NOT GONNA LET THEM CATCH THE MIDNIGHT RIDER!" EXCELLENT SCORE FOR A COWBOY/OLD WEST MOVIE SCENE.
first song learned to play when i was nine years old in the early sevendies on a cheap k-mart guitar ... love this song especially after the DEVILS REJECTS movie... now in my 40"s and still live in texas its even better...
i actually have a funny story about this song..i went to an allman brothers show and we were sitting me and my best friend that has been for my whole life..anyway we are standing there and we just ran out of weed and it was the oncore...and so we were like shit..anyway this guy next to us had a broken arm in a cast and was trying to light a bowl and my friend goes..can i help you?..and we sat there and smoked an 8th with a dude with a broken arm...ill never forget that
@HempHippie420 It's like 530 am here and I can't sleep, been playing some guitar and pondering life ...I stumbled on this vid and read yer comment and now I am grinning ear to ear. Cheers and hope you have a great day. Send yer friend a hello as well from your neighbours up north in Canada :) Cheers
i saw these guys live and i must say....they are one of the best bands of all time next to the dead......i got so high at that show also...hahha...peace
The Ending of Devil's Rejects was Freebird...this song was at the beginning of the movie. But you are right on both accounts. Any movie that opens with Midnight Rider is tops in my book....
Just saw them @ Palace theatre,Albany NY 11-15.Great as usual. Warrren& Derrick rocked the house. They played old video of Duane in the background when they did whippin post......Duane was playing it from vid back in the 60's or 70's.Great performance
I used to work with this dude who looked damn near exactly like Gregg Allman(minus the ponytail). When I told him that I thought he looked like Gregg, he did not seem too pleased. He seemed irritated in fact.
I found out later that he was sick of people making that comparison. Cool story, eh bro?
great song for a driving in highway
