Another reason for left and right to stop fighting: in a free world, both can have what they want! The principle is called "subsidiarity". There is no reason that people of different political views cannot be at peace in the same way that people of different religious views can - other than that the ruling class finds it advantageous to divide and conquer. If by "wedge" issues you mean social issues, then I believe that all is already lost. People who identify as socially conservative will never unite in any way, shape, or form with those who do not subscribe to their ideology. Some neurologists attribute this to a physiological difference between the brains of liberals and conservatives; specifically an over-developed amygdala in the conservative brain. This likely indicates that conservatives are more fearful people, making compromise unlikely.
I disagree with the fundamentals of the argument in this video about banks. There is a clear difference in Tea Party and OWS narratives. OWS do have a pro-labor, anti-war bent (I support them), and there are socialists there, but there are also Ron Paul libertarians. There's a lot of room for different voices. Most OWS supporters endorse universal health care, anti-Iraq/Afgh wars, but everybody wants monopolies and big banks out of politics. There's the common ground.

I agree with the premise of this video. My only caveat is that the Tea Party seems to support this flawed system of trickle-down economics and buys into whatever the GOP is selling. I haven't even really heard the Tea Party complain about the influence banking cartels on global politics, despite the fact that everybody likes to proclaim Ron Paul as the intellectual godfather of the party. If they were serious about this issue, why is money in politics, for example, just now getting scrutinized?

Uniting would be great if the OWS folks supported the constitution. These people want to fundamentally change the way America runs. They are openly calling for the redistribution of wealth. How does shutting down ports and small businesses in Oakland do anything other than hurt the American people?
@TXLimaBean - If you want to prevent the OWS from going too such extremes then the best strategy is to form an alliance with them. An group made of OWS and conservatives under truce both pushing against banker control would be lead to a drastically different outcome, and any future agendas would be more balanced.

The way we perceive the problem: a) big government spending on pork barrels, and programs we can't pay for, b) financing trillion-dollar wars to destroy a perceived enemy, c) corruption in high places, d) extreme disparity in wealth - with billionaires getting away in not paying their fair share of taxes, e) huge government debt and deficit financing and printing money out of thin air, g) bailing out the failing companies while avg. man is suffering, etc. So everyone is right. If by "wedge" issues you mean social issues, then I believe that all is already lost. People who identify as socially conservative will never unite in any way, shape, or form with those who do not subscribe to their ideology. Some neurologists attribute this to a physiological difference between the brains of liberals and conservatives; specifically an over-developed amygdala in the conservative brain. This likely indicates that conservatives are more fearful people, making compromise unlikely.

I disagree with the fundamentals of the argument in this video about banks. There is a clear difference in Tea Party and OWS narratives. OWS do have a pro-labor, anti-war bent (I support them), and there are socialists there, but there are also Ron Paul libertarians. There's a lot of room for different voices. Most OWS supporters endorse universal health care, anti-Iraq/Afgh wars, but everybody wants monopolies and big banks out of politics. There's the common ground.

"Small or no government means less government to corrupt" is the logic I heard from the TP. That's kind of a killing issue at OWS. You will find few people at OWS who would endorse eliminating social spending in exchange for tax cuts for rich people.

And now let´s start with solutions: Study Silvio Gesell (Wörgl example), study complementary regional currency that works without an interest-of-interest-money-system, study Margrit Kennedy, build up your region! Stop buying from supermarkets, buy from farmers and things pruduced in the region. Encourage regional independancy. See that your region produces their own shoes and clothes again ... then we have already won and hungered them out. We don´t need them.

Through that field we're choosing outcome...most often unknowingly as we project what we feel, making the pictures that we don't want. That works in everything about us. But when we make use of what comes at us as an exercize in learning we can overcome ANYTHING. I have done that with critters and I have done that with supposed congestive heart failure. It works. This is the best vid you have made.. with the exception of the earth bag house of course. A lot of my friends are conservative and often speak of my attendance to Occupy Toronto as political. Wanting to get into political debates and most likely trying to razzle me up. But its really not political. It's about money. I agree with the premise of this video. My only caveat is that the Tea Party seems to support this flawed system of trickle-down economics and buys into whatever the GOP is selling. I haven't even really heard the Tea Party complain about the influence banking cartels on global politics, despite the fact that everybody likes to proclaim Ron Paul as the intellectual godfather of the party. If they were serious about this issue, why is money in politics, for example, just now getting scrutinized?

I say "Let the middle class shrink" the only reason American's have had it so good is because they have been sucking the governments tit for 60 years. Look at China-there's no middle class there and yet they have become the super power of the planet. They have surpassed the US by hard work, not government handouts. I will work with my brothers Cantor, Boehner, and Paul Ryan to end all handout programs and encourage tax breaks for job creators.

Uniting would be great if the OWS folks supported the constitution. These people want to fundamentally change the way America runs. They are openly calling for the redistribution of wealth. That is not liberty! How can one stand with that? If there was a defined goal of convicting the criminals in the banking industry and government, then maybe people could unite. How does shutting down ports and small businesses in Oakland do anything other than hurt the American people?

@TXLimaBean - If you want to prevent the OWS from going too such extremes then the best strategy is to form an alliance with them. An group made of OWS and conservatives under truce both pushing against banker control would be lead to a drastically different outcome, and any future agendas would be more balanced.
