Bret was supposed to then restart the match and Sting would win. Nick Patrick messed up the three count. It had less to do with Hogan refusing to lose than the weird booking WCW did.

Shawn Michaels had every right to mock Hogan, because he was absolutely right about Hogan just like he was absolutely right about Bret Hart - they were both whiny little primadonnas who made a huge fuss if they ever had to job. Creative made Michaels lose way too much, to younger and older talent alike - Triple H, Randy Orton, Edge, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, John Cena, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, even though he and he alone made those matches great, and he did it with a smile.

The match was supposed to be Michaels beating Hogan but Hogan complained about that and said he wanted to win, and they finally agreed but Michaels decided to piss off Hogan in the process. @FewdioFilms Hogan had little in-ring ability even in his prime and has always widely been considered incredibly overrated. Michaels on the other hand had some of the greatest in-ring ability for 15+ years. Even in promos, Hogan hardly had Michaels beat. Sorry, but it's a flawed argument to say Hogan is the greatest because he was a few years ahead of Michaels career-wise and had decent marketing.

Um... The reason Shawn is overselling is because he was pissed at Hogan (as people usually are) because HH wanted to win, even though it wouldn't have benefitted him at all. (as he wasn't actively wrestling full time) I'm not too sure that they are friends.
