  • NOT into it. Farts.

  • I like this interpretation. The idea of drowning to death immersed in water gives a feeling of a gradual loss of the will to live. I wouldn't imagine Ophelia vehemently thrashing about. In my mind she would be way too passive to commit suicide by shooting herself in the head for instance.

  • everyone's interpretation of this is different but the one thing in common is the white dress..fortunately the filming of your version was a little less dangerous than ours :)

  • that was really cool loved the ending you were amazing awsome angle shots :)

  • OMG at first I thought this was going to be terrible since it was home made but it was truly awesome!

  • It was good BUT she actually didn't have the intent to kill herself at first. She fell into the water and just let herself drown. Big difference "There, on the pendent boughs her coronet weeds

    Clambering to hang, an envious sliver broke;

    When down her weedy trophies and herself

    Fell in the weeping brook. Her clothes spread wide;

    And, mermaid-like, awhile they bore her up:

    Which time she chanted snatches of old lauds;

    As one incapable of her own distress,"

  • VERY beautiful! by the way, SUUUPER IMPORTANT: there used to be another video for a school production of ophelia's drowning that was lost. it had an awesome, and beautiful irish song to it. if the maker of the that vid is reading this, CAN YOU PLEEASE TELL ME THE NAME OF THAT SONG!!??

  • beautiful woman.

  • I have no strong opinions on whether Ophelia's death was intentional or not, therefore I offer no comment on that. (I feel all interpretations are valid and Shakespeare meant to leave the question open-ended, and it is up to each indiviudual actress to discuss with her director and cast which to portray.) However, this is such a goddamned BEAUTIFUL portrayal of the interpretation that she had full knowledge of what she was doing. I nearly cried at one point. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Great video. The camera work and simplicty of the narrative is first-rate. I'm producing a new piece of experimental theatre for the Edinburgh Fringe 2009 under the working title of 'Ophelia (drowning)', inspired by Millais' painting of this scene. It's going to be performed in a swimming pool. Thanks for sharing this film anyway.

  • Is it supposed to have no sound?

    I haven't read the book so I pretty much have no idea whats going on haha

  • Try to read the play, or even better... see it.

  • Well, I'm not in 12th grade yet, so I don't want to read it until I'm supposed to...

  • Wow! Beautiful! I kinda agree with andrika1990. I like how we can see what Ophelia's thinking and feeling in this video!

  • i also used to think she killed herself unaware of what she was doing because her mental state or her rational state of mind was gone. So i used to think she did it unintentionally. in other words if an idiot sees water he's going to jump in it if someone else is not there to tell him otherwise. because he doesn't realize he's putting himself in danger.

  • I agree. I thought the same thing. My aunt seemed to read between the lines differently she thought the queen murdered her because she tells how she drowned but yet she wasn't there to see it so how would she know. She thinks the way she decribes her death is a coverup for the truth of her killing her.

  • that was very well done. amazing camera skills.

  • oh and very very good camera work.

    the camera man had some major skills.

  • WOW this video's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • interesting interpretation

  • thanks for the compliment, truly appreciate it

  • This makes's Ophelia's death seem completely and utterly suicidal. In the actual PLAY of Hamlet Ophelia ACCIDENTALLY falls into the water. And it wasn't a swimming pool!

  • read the book, she did commit suicide, she was in such distress with losing her father and the one man she loved,hamlet, to insanity that she ends her own life, and sorry that i didn't have the million dollar budget, ill try harder next time

  • Uh, I DID read the book. Maybe you need to RE-read it to refresh your memory. The Queen specifically says that the drowned in the river accidentally. Her dress was too heavy and it pulled her down. I guess it depends how you interpreted it, but from my understanding she didn't kill herself.

  • Really, You could take it either way. We don't KNOW if it was an accident or on purpose. The book lets you think for yourself. there is no right or wrong answer.

  • goooooood video!!! i used some clips of this video in my project, i hope you dont mind. i put and gave credits to you by the way...i shouldve asked first...sorry

    i really like this video :] thank you!!

  • your very welcome, i did this for a school project myself, unfortunatly i had problems wit the music which made this video even more dramatic, i know you prooly dont need it anymore but the song i used is from the las vegas show "le reve" and the name of the song is "overture" thanks for the compliment

  • yeah, um, that's not the ophelia i know

  • why isnt it the ophelia you know ?

  • to be quite honest, i dont think youv grasped the concept of Ophelia's death. when she drowned herself, she was at the end of a descent into madness, and had suffered the loss of everyone close to her and the rejection of the man she loved. she would not have blankly stepped into the water, thought about it and went for a swim. she was in a state of extreme brokenness

    but hey, its your interpretation, but that is my opinion.

  • hey thanks i appreciate your comment and opinion, i just always thought that her madness was more of extreme depression and even tho she kills herself i wanted to put a more dramatic sense in when she takes the plunge, in my opinion life is so delicate that i just imagined that to commit suicide is not easy to accomplish due to the mind, not sure if you get my drift but thanks for the comment

  • hum. I really didn't imagine it like that ...

  • how did you imagine it ?
