The UH team that they would've had to face on the road would've beat them without a doubt, so this was a good business move on MSU' part.

To answer your question, BOTH Michigan and Michigan St backed out. Based on what I've heard, first it was McChicken St, then UH tried to replace them with Michigan but they didn't want to.

So in the end UH got stuck with Northern Colorado and Michigan lost to App. St lolz.

I remmeber that. people kept slamming Hawaii for playing 2 1AA teams that year even though it wasn't there fault. There really isn;t even a fair comparison in these games when you think about it because the big teams all play at home. I'd like to see how much more even BCS/Non BCS games would be if there was an even amount of home games...

It was good to be at this game. Just a complete blowout, and yet the Hawaii players as usual were dirty, showboating after the few positive plays they made, and their coach was an ass-hat.

Made up for the abortion of a game the season before which was decided by the zebras (which seems to happen to any mainland team that goes to the island late in the year.....hmmmmm.......)

-the '05 UH offense featured new WRs, RBs & NEW QBs that didn't yet understand the June Jones offense

wasn't it last year we got out playing you guys? anyways it wasn't that state was scared, we didn't want to deal with the major time zone change, trying to condition and prepare for the heat, the lack of focus a trip to hawaii caused, and the bullcrap WAC refs who helped you guys win that game. Also i think there was a lot of hatred between both teams players and coaches, (not exchanging film with each team prior to this game), so it was best for both teams to get out of the game.
