  • My hero! Trent forever!

  • All used up half way through

  • you can tell how passionate he is about his music; when he's playing a song live he acts as if he's going into a boxing match. you can also they're serious by the expressions on their faces. these men are not fucking around. this is nine inch nails.

  • Does anybody knows how Trent makes the glitch sounds at the end of this song? any AU/VST? Modular thingy? what else...?

  • Can someone send me a 720p version of this? Also, sound in 240p sucks in here. I can't find better quality on youtube :(

  • Y si asi fuera??

    .

And this is not my face

And this is not my life

And there is not a single thing here

    I can recognize

    This is all a dream

And none of you are real

    I'll give anything

    I'll give anything

  • Amazing!

  • i fucking love this song...and this version too! except for the part in the middle where they thought to syncronize Josh in his "little stop and go"

  • Fantastic album. When I got the free download, I went & bought the Slip cause I am used to paying for the music, to encourage musicians that make me feel good. I have all NIN albums except the remastered PHM, which is next. B4 there was no other options.Go to the store. Now, every1 thinks music is free cause they pay for internet. It's only a place to view music you like and at $0.99/song or less if you but the MP3 album. Concert tickets would go down cause a lot of pple steal the music

    music.

  • when robin rolls his eyes back and fades away with the music... real fucking music and true passion.

  • wow that band makes so much noise in a such nice song

  • I love how it sounds so dirty, then cleans up and goes back to being dirty. So many NIN albums have great stripper songs...this would be one for this album!

  • NIN constant even in rehearsal. So much energy all the dam time.

  • Is it bad that I like the Live @ Rehearsals version of "The Slip" better than the actual studio cuts? Josh Freese is such an awesome drummer!

  • @storybookalibi So do I.

  • Low quality ://

  • @azombiestool Please give details...

  • Comment removed

  • @azombiestool

    Please elaborate...

  • @vivianlippens As compared to the ones on NIN official youtube, lowER quality.

  • I'm sure anyone can play circles around these riffs... The point is not the technicality, it is ultimately the sound achieved an the ambiance created. This whole album is simple. But the simplicity is what makes it what it is. But hey, you don't have to take my word for it!

  • @AcrylicApe I use to think it was all about Technicality. Took me a few years to realize that the most important Thing in music is How it makes me feel. And sometimes Something Simple is all it takes.

  • This is like one of my favorites from the album... but the guitaring... god, Ive only been playing for a month and i can play better. :(

  • Fuck yea boys! that was a JAM! I think I was makin alot of wierd ass sudden movements of rock and roll... without even realizing it. When you start movin around like that... Your fuckin JAMIN botha men. Still dont beat the clean versionM, but mother of Amptitudes... good fuckin shit ZOW!

  • "BET YOU DIDN'T THINK. IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!" *but this song just blew your mind!!*

  • playing this song on drums is the most fun I've had playing drums ever

  • that synth solo is SUPERB!

  • the synth solo is SUPERB!

  • 3:22 Oh yeah, Trent! Pound that tambourine, son!

Haha, still one of the best musicians EVER!!! Always gonna be in my Top-3

  • I... caaan't...haaandle...theeee...awesomenesssss

  • this is one instance where the live performance just BLOWS away the studio track, everythings just so tight here. from the opening riff, to the backing vocals @ 2:51, and when the ferocious climax opens up at 2:55 - nuthin beats it!!! NIN foreva!!!

  • Wow to the 7 who dont like this... EAT A BAG OF BABY DICKS!!!! >: (

  • 1:51 must. get. to. mic. NOW.

  • They went so hard after the last verse.

  • cant believe this is already 3 years ago! still amazing stuff!!

  • omfg compressed to hell (slams back button)

  • this was in HD on ninofficlal, for some reason only this got removed out of all rehersal videos :|

  • this needs to be in hd

    NOW!!

  • That may be one of the most devastating opening guitar riffs ever made. It's sounds like the veil between realities being torn wide open. And the lyrics..... only someone who has seen into the Abyss could write those words.

  • this is a true band ...

  • FUCKING ORGASIM SONG!

  • looks alrite paramore could be a challenge for him id say maybe not havent seen enough to judge yet i dont think

  • that dudes voice.....beyond epic.

  • but this is not my face and this is not my life

  • @TheJonathanPace actually, I think that's just improvisation. But yeah, he's THE man.

  • what an awesome practice, so much energy!

  • 1:48 Hey You !

  • think the lyrics sum up why he pulled the plug on nails.all used up half way through-as in maybe expected longer as nails.this is all a dream none of you are real etc as if a bit awkward about being so famous perhaps.seems this way to me anyway.been going to gigs solidly for 30 years and no one lit up a stage like these guys.to me robin was the guitarist who should always have been in nin.sorely missed.

  • What a great song

  • this song is forever immortalized

the passion, anger and love make this song

to great to to ever die

  • Everything about this song is absolutely sick.

  • needs more cowbell

  • josh freese is mental here

  • cant stop headbanging to that fat ass beat

  • fucking fat beat. the beat is why I like this song. the chorus helps. but that intro beat and throughout.

  • baritone guitar with some dirt! WOoo!

  • i love this guitar riff...the performance is also better than on the record...gotta love trents vocals too. such power

  • this is just the way life should be...

  • My ears just came, and came HARD!

  • Ok folks: Josh Freese is very good, but seriously...

He's playing to a click and making some massive movements; if that's what you think constitues amazing Freese then you better do some better research. He's doing bugger all here. Try NIN 'Wish' drum cam, or any of the punk stuff with a double kick, then you'll see him working.

  • "I'll give Anything..."♪♫

  • why is everybody obsessed with josh? lol please fill me in on when he became better than Trent reznor? because thats pretty impossible

  • @joker9494949494 Basically because to see trent reznor's genius you simply have to listen to the songs, because he wrote them.

But to see josh freese drumming, you have to watch live videos to see how solid his drumming is. I'm a massive nin fan, but at the same time, I only came here to see josh freese drum.

  • @2good4name this is very true, the live musicians in nin are 90% of the reason i care about the band live. trent is a great writer but one of the main reasons i dig the live facet of nin is the musician's who take his ideas and portray them live in their own way. massively talented individuals.

  • @joker9494949494 i'm with you on that

  • Comment removed

  • @joker9494949494 - Josh is technically brilliant with a pair of drum sticks ..... Trent is an amazing composer with a huge emotional impact on listeners, but, on those instruments Trent actually plays - guitar, keys/synth, drums/drum synths, etc etc .... He is not as technically adept playing HIS instruments as Josh is playing his drums .... Musicians appreciate Josh's musicianship .... That is how I feel about it ... Josh is a god amongst drummers - Trent is a god amongst rock composers ...

  • @TrajanGregory

    I agree.

Trent only works with really talented people.

  • Million times better than the album version.

  • Does anybody really knows how he makes this sound at 3:28 please?

  • @AntwaanMusic Droping some water on turned up T.V... !!!

  • @minakit thank you...

  • This, 1,000,000 and Letting you have so much Raw powerful energy, executed in a heavy, angry way I feel like I want to go out and strangle a cat / beat the wife ;)

  • this song is so beast!

fuck all haters, this was a good album.

  • If I was chained to Josh Freese for life, I'm pretty sure I'd dance myself to death within the first week.

  • did anyone see josh playing in Letting You? this was nothing in comparison, gee whiz

  • I wan to pee!

Mmmm! Too late for that! XD

  • WOW this is EPIC!! They all got so into it!! Amazing song... Trent is a genius and Freese has such an awesome style <3

  • The best song on The Slip!

  • robin finck is awesome man!

  • Let me be honest, I don't like NIN, or Reznor. I always likened his lyrics to little more than the rantings of some strung-out pretentious junkie. But I mean it 100% when I say that I CANNOT stop listening to this album. Mostly this song.

  • @Karyzma That's cause he was a strung-out pretentious junkie. lol. Right before he became a junkie, he wrote an album about a man becoming an addict who's life went down the drains and then he basically lived it. So a good 3 albums worth of material was about everything you don't like about his music. lol.

  • the first YOU sounds likes kurt cobain. NIN is awesom. i have this DVD. =D

  • is the guy with the fro the same guy who played in Eagles of Death Metal on the first album and tour?

  • Amazzzinggg!! :D Love this song so much.

  • why isnt this on nin official?

  • Listening to all these rehearsal videos, I just noticed that a lot of NIN's songs starts with a drum beat :P

    Great song btw 5/5 *

  • awesome drum beats!

    >:3

  • @Dope999 SEEMS LIKE JUST THE SONGS HE MADE SOBER

  • @Dope999 Ableton makes this really, really easy.

  • @Dope999 pretty sure it's 4/4

  • does anyone know 3:49 what is trent usin to make that weird sound I think robin is using a danelectro guitar if not could anyone tell me what guita it is

  • @bog69bec91 It's a Jerry Jones Baritone replica of the Danelectro U2.

  • NIN r fuckin well good intense shit right here love them cause you dont have to be a sick shredder t be sick they show wiith their effects n shit a real band not like all the sceney shit you gt on tv n stuff

  • 2:58 Justin have bassgasm too.

  • great video, but you failed at compressing it. way too far with the audio.

  • Huh? Sounds fine to me. If you're referring to the distortion on the bass, it's there in the original song.

  • its my fault for streaming a youtube video over high end speakers and expecting 320kbps sound lol.

god i love these rehearsals though.

  • Can pleeaaase somebody tell me who is singing with Trent @ 2:43 - 2:53, Robin or Justin??? Or both?? Whoever is singing... well, he sings so fucking amazing (:

  • Both, and yes it sounds awesome!!

  • Trent has proven himself so many times he dont need to think about ego and what ppl think about him... he knows he rocks :))))))) but u got a point there Bored9eigh4

  • I like how he isnt afraid to play a tambourine xD most guys would have like an ego issue with that.

  • agreed.

  • Why should he be? He looks awesome even with the tambourine :)

  • JOSH FUCKING FREESE!

  • The last 40 seconds are epic. I keep listening to that part over and over again.

  • It is a electronic drum pad witch triggers a sample

  • what is that really small tom josh is hitting?

  • @chewypoopoo1 If you listen right at the end of every bar, you hear a low bassy groan, that's what Josh is playing on the small synth pad he's hitting.

  • If NIN was a drug I would need to go to NIN-anonymous, I love the break down when the music gets all mellow, this wouldn't have such a cool effect if the music in the beginning wasn't the exact opposite. I have the free version and for some reason I still bought it.

  • I would go to NIN-anonymous too, lol, i did not get the free version i had to buy it, i love when you open NIN cds!! i love this band check out my favs!!!

  • what kinda guitar is fink using?

  • danelectro u2 i believe:)

  • Reznor is a genious

  • OOOHHH! This is fucking amazing, this is one of the main reasons why i bought a physical copy of The Slip (CD/DVD), i wanted to have captured the rehearsals in HQ (No offense), so i can show it to my kids and make them understand THIS is real music played by a great and real musician

  • when bands record songs? why do they do it like one instrument at a time and over dub it instead of just recording it like this or from the mix board but like this

  • Well in the case of NIN I would say that it is in most cases because TR plays/sequences most of the songs by himself.

I general, the process of overdubbing serves to allow audio engineers recordings of individual instruments which are "clean" - free from microphone "bleed" of the other instruments going off at the same time.

  • oh, but if someone were to record on their albums like this, would there be any obvious negative things, cuase if im ever in a band, i think i would want to record like this

  • @ToOlOGT22 yeah, some bands track "live" in a room together. Rage Against the Machine tracked that way. If thats what it takes to get a good t ake, go for it...

  • oh cool i didnt know that, any other bands that you know about?

  • to get it absolutely perfect

  • This was amazing to hear live! I do like the ablum version, but the raw emotion behind it gives it that extra something when hearing it in concert.

  • Sorry, I wanted to push thumb up ...

  • Never gave much to NiN untill i heard 'With Teeth' album. It totally turned my head to them. Texts are not the best out there but music is great! Who gives a fuck about text anyway :)

  • Actually, This song sounds better live anyway. Trent usually goes all out on the synth at the ending on Live concerts, and He played The same exact one as this one during one of the Wave Goodbye sets

  • INTENSE.

Hey can i ask where you got this video?

  • think it was on the NIN site

  • FUCKING BADASS! =D

  • Damn that was NICE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it just me, or does this sound better live than on the album?

  • Some songs sound better album-wise, but this definitely sounds better at rehearsals. C:

  • i think so too!

    :3

  • The chorus is just awesome!

  • Sorry, I would say... JUST FUCKING BRILLIANT! :)

  • Trent uses more than just Gibsons and Deans. He has used Ovations, Jacksons, Parkers, Fender, epiphone...tons! He just plays what he wants.

  • This is one of the reasons NIN is my favorite. Anyone know what kind of guitar Fink is using?

  • probably some kind of Gibson Trent only uses Gibson so i would imagine Fink is using one as well

  • Actually you might be right. Though trent uses Dean Evo Noir's which is the guitar i own. He used it during the beside you in time tour. But its a gibson body so it's an easy mistake. But thanks for the answer.

  • its a danelectro u2

  • it's a Danelectro, or more likely an expensive copy of a Danelectro design

  • sounds good, but bet it sounded fuckin awesome in person !

  • It is ;)

  • Great song, the saturation of the noisewhit, and then a nice piano, in order to relax, firts is very stressing and then peace, great.

  • trent and his tambourine... gotta love him lol

  • I wonder why they don't continue the heavy guitar riff through the 2nd chorus like in the album arrangement. Oh well.

  • genius. just gets better and better. beyond genre at this point. mmm...

  • Epic!

Best song from the best album

  • That is one of the heaviest guitar riffs I've ever heard! It's like a building falling down. What a tremendous song. Then it just switches into that delicate piano section and becomes almost serene. Then...... BOOM!

  • Fap fap fap fap

  • I just cant wait to see them this august.

Yeah the arrangements they do for live shows are pretty wicked. Once you let this kind of music grow on you, it REALLY grows on you. lol awesome.

  • i hear you, at first i thought this music was too much especially this song, the lyrics in particular, now I just love this song.

  • Rift at 2.21 is wicked. I love this more than the album version.

  • i wish i could get down like they do here

  • I really love the guitar riffs in this song, they are so awesome!

  • Damn! it`s awesome:D better than on CD:D insane:D

  • the drummers insane! (in a good way)

  • Josh Freese is fucking awesome.

  • atleast its not all the same as the album

gets kinda booring listening to the same sounding nin tracks after a while ;)

  • I think it sounds better on the DVD through good speakers (my mates house) rather than tinny youtube quality through my cheap speakers.

  • Only Trent Reznor can possibly make a tambourine seem hardcore...

    x3

  • Even A Tambourine Shaking Baptist can tell I'm no good!

  • Definitely my favorite on this album. I love it!!!

  • not bad

  • Look if anyone could get me a bass tab for this that would be great because i cant find one thats right on the net

    goraillaz(at)hotmail(dot)c0m

    thanks

  • Dope. Best song on The Slip? Did anyone else really like Demon Seed too?

  • best songs ever on The Slip are Head Down, Echoplex, and Discipline. NIN 4 life!!!

  • tell it preacher!

  • you forgot 1,000,000 and Letting You

  • I LOVE IT

    I LOVE Robin Fink

    Lylics Please

  • you best be trollin'...
