  • Your made the BEST Pratha

  • good

  • yummy i love this paratha

  • Do I need self-raising flour or all-purpose one? Where I live I cant get hold of self-raising one

  • @nunacadey no u dont need self raising flour at all...i used normal all purpose flour for this

  • @nunacadey Add some baking powder to all purpose flour to make it self raising.

  • @msdraganfly1 no.You dont need baking powder for parotta.

  • They call this roti canai in Malaysia and many coffee shops serving it. Only they toss the dough similar to tossing pizza dough until its so paper thin. My grandmother also makes a similar roti but she will slam the dough on the table many times to get a very soft roti and the pulling is done on the wrong side of a large tray. Very crispy outer layer and soft bread inside. Also so aromatic cos she uses ghee. how i miss my grandmother and the slamming sound in the early mornings.

  • very nice i am pakistani but i grew up with some maliyali friends in dubai their pratha and chili chicken was the best and we used the dough to fish to even fish loved it..

  • great video!!

  • This called lechi parata due to the layer! Think it's Bihari.

  • looks great! :)

  • looks great! :)

  • beautiful very good paratha:)

  • @CookingAmmi thnkx

  • It has to be selfraising flour right? We dont have that in my country, but can easy make it with baking soda.

  • @Henka44 hi we dont have self raising flour either & its not at all necessary. think its being made in my village where noone even heard abt any selfraising flour or backing soda. i guess baking soda will make it cake like. so try with simply all purpose flour & it works, all the best !!

  • what are the ingredients in the flour? such as salt and proportion which is the oil?

  • @yasasable any vegetable oil can be used, which u hav in ur kitchen. Salt proposion i will say 1 tsp for one cup flour .

  • GOOD vIDEO!

  • Where can I find the recipe to make such an elastic dough, please?

  • @turuanu this video was actually made for my site , the recipe is here aromatickitchen.blogspot.com/2009/04/kerala-parotta.html

  • @aromatickitchen I see, you knead it for 20 minutes. I never knead that long, that's why I had never seen a dough like that. Thanks!

  • @turuanu I can give you my secret. Make the dough let it rest for 1 hour then kneed again. Let it rest again for another hour then kneed again. Repeat this method untill you get elastic dough. I would say doing this 4x or 5 x should bring the result. Works for me.

  • @FabricsNThings Good tip.ya the point is the water n flour should be mixed really well..i think wot u r saying is true...but anyway it need a lot of beating n kneading

  • So this is how they are made....awesome..Thanks for uploading

  • Looks too tasty :)

  • nice. which bread is exactly used for kothu roti??? i look long for a recipe but search whole net . HEEEELP

  • @giiisabbi i die for kothu parotta!! its made by the same parotta above. i will try to make a video, but later.

  • @aromatickitchen thank u so much :) love ur videos. it help a lot

  • wunderbar gemacht ...really good looking your Parotta ....

dankeschön und tschüss .....thank you very much and good-bye ....:)

  • @pindi2009 vielen dank!! ein bisschen fettig aber sehr lecker :)

  • Mine seem to come out to crispy instead of a nice bread, any ideas what im doing wrong ?

  • @masterraj1 yes, could be less water.so its bit tough n dries up fast.

  • They are both made in Maida Flour) just named differently in different regions of India

  • great video!!! but in your recipe you say "water as required". how much is that, it's not very clear. do we need stiff dough or very wet one?

  • @AbstractMan23 if its too tough like chappathi dough then u wont be able to roll it thin . it should be bit more softer than chappathi dough.soft not tough. water is always the essential ingredient yet tough to tell the exact measure :(

  • It looks just like the packet type!

  • I love the way you made the layers!!! Nice video!!!

  • Goooooooooooood

  • Good

  • Punjabi speaking people have twisted the word ' paratha' into 'parotta'.

  • i like this video

  • nono no actually pratha is in urdu or hindi and parottha is punjabi language yeah thats the dfference:)

  • hvnt seen a better lachcha parantha..thanx grt job

  • Kerala's answer to junk food!

  • hey dude thank you so much i always looking for this type of roti thank you2 ^^

  • wonderful.....thanx a ton!

  • @fitnessfreakgirl thanks friend !

  • Hello everyone. Just want to clarify something. Whats the difference between a paratha and parotta. I am asking this coz i find those two in different types. I am confused...help me :)

  • @byna1982 ok parottas (the one in the video) is made only using all purpose flour .. i think parathas are made using whole wheat flour ( gothambu)

then again parathas doesnot contain layers like in parottas & so much easier to make also .

Parotta - born in south india

    Paratha - north indian

there can be many varieties to parathas ,by adding different veg. like alu(potato) , cauliflower , spinach etc.

thats all I know friend ..both tastes good !

  • @aromatickitchen Just to let you know, the only difference is the way it is pronounced. Otherwise there is a paratha called lachcha paratha that is made excatly the way you made this. There are many kinds of parathas starting from 4 layers going on to many.

  • @ktkbar good info thnkx!.i never knew this b4.

  • @aromatickitchen wow what a nice comment:)

  • Excellent method!!!

  • @utube4mp ya thanks

  • good technique

  • @nornsmain yeah, but it takes time & space ...suitable for weekend cooking hmm

  • love it thanks

  • Would you mind telling us what kind of oil you are using?

  • @jzaik yes here in germany we use exactly 'Mazola oil' ...but wherever u may b u can use any vegetable oil which don't have any intense smell i suppose :)

  • excellent parata i have seen so far on utube

  • Thank you so much; thanks to your generosity I have been making this parotta instead of my traditional north Indian paratha and getting very high compliments from fellow north Indians :)

  • @Unwaar thanks Unwaar ...but u c I like both parathas :)

  • Aa good parota making video , thanks a lot , i am sure you would present to the world lot more wonderfull recipes..

  • @jeffsalvan Thanks a lot friend

  • Yes, please add sound to explain the ingredient list and timing :). Looks yummy!

  • the real audio is only the conversation of us talking , which is not so audible :)

  • very good video

i have just few questions, to make the dough, you added combined, water flour and salt only?

and what u put on the rolled out dough is oil right?

last question, was the board you rolling on oiled or floured or anything?

  • @BoxerMonkey yes right all purpose flour, salt & water only for usual parottas . There is also a version called egg parotta in which you can also add eggs.

Yes oil. this oil prevents the layers from sticking to each other . The board where you hav to roll out the flour is oiled not floured.

  • hi .. u need to redo this video as in parts it can't be veiwed properly and add voice to explain what the ingredients are how to prepare. plz hurry up as u've made me hungry :o)

  • yes , I made this clip cutting a reasonably long video using Adobe Premiere elements .. but still somehow its size is bigger...i think it will take some time ..until i find a solution

  • You could just add voice-over to explain the ingredients, proportions, the method, and tips as the video is playing.

An easy, but not very polished or skillful, way to do this would be using the software Camtasia. You can download the trial version for free.

    It looks YUMMMM!!!

  • @diagonalrain good tip thanks ...to tell u the truth i dont hav enough time to do better in the videos...mostly i am with my blog ..i tried even uploading 1 movie of mine ut had tuff time in youtube..since i hav to split them into diff. parts ...if u kno any good free software or so then tell me ...i am welcoming infos from all of u ..
