Celente: It is the Federal Regulations that are strangling America and I disagree with you on that front. Ron Paul just wants the Fed. Gov. out of the way so the people can move forward. Direct democracy would only work if the people had to make a concurrent payment for the things they were voting for. Too many people want more government as long as they think other people are paying for it. Also in the case of war, people voting in favor would have to send money AND provide dates of voluntary service. I'm not sure we should put so much faith in government regulators that have proven to be corrupt and/or incompetent. More foxes guarding the hen house? Fruad is already illegal.

I solution of direct democracy is foolish. It has never been worked because people can be stampeded like cattle in one direction through lies and distortions broadcast in the media. No one takes time these days to think or study the issues. The 'Founders' believed only those with 'skin in the game' should be able to vote. Today, that would mean you would have pay income or property taxes to be able to vote. Sounds great to me; all the parasites couldn't vote more goodies for themselves.

The only issue I have with Gerald is his idea about direct democracy. Bottom line is it only works if you can limit the voting population to people who actually know and understand the issues. This may cause even the most ignorant to wake up and take action. My issue with direct democracy is the large population. It would be extremely difficult to progress with direct democracy given our population and given the differences between states.
