It's not only crude prices that drive up food costs, it's also biofuel production, like ethanol. Since ethanol is made from corn, more fuel is produced instead of food, causing a supply shortage. To make up for that shortage food prices price because most foods are made from corn, also used to feed animals.

When you buy any packaged food, it's alot lighter now. Some foods like Stouffers Lasagna weighs almost the same as the box!
