The airplane ran out of fuel, so it had to make an emergency landing on a public road. Some firetrucks and a fuel truck came to the scene to assist the pilot. After refueling his airplane, the pilot takes of from the same public road again. However, he didn't take enough caution.

@matttuck5 that is a city street not a runway. they refuels him on site and cleared the street for him to take off. but he did not make sure he was clear of the trucks.

Just a few inches!! It was his wing tip just barely hitting the mirror in the big truck that caused him to swerve a bit to the right leading to him hitting the other truck hard. If he didnt just nip that first truck he would've cleared the smaller truck with ease.

Listen to the stupid reporter for the TV station say that the pilot hit the truck that brought him the fuel. Even the fuel trucks on military bases don't have FLASHING RED LIGHTS on top of them! That looked very much like a FIRE DEPARTMENT VEHICLE! Typical media clown; doesn't really have a clue what they are reporting. In my home city most of the TV news people are constantly botching a story because they just don't do their homework.

If you watch closely, the outboard wing actually strikes the rear view mirror on truck #1, which pulls the airplane further right into truck #2 either way they should'nt have been parked there. bummer

wow...what an idiot. there's a gauge in the plane that tells you how much fuel you have first of all, and was an emergency landing not enough excitement for 1 day? call a flat bed!!!

Aircraft fuel gauges aren't really good enough to tell you if you are going to run out of fuel (not sure why, but I've never flown a plane (piston or jet) with gauges as good as a car's). However, that isn't an excuse to run out. The pilot should be keeping a fuel log in flight.

Agreed, but my point is that if you're lucky enough to make an Emergency Landing on a busy street with no damage, maybe it's time to call it a day.

And the funniest part is that the local police and fire came out to help him take off by clearing the street etc and he didn't wait for them to move their equipment. You can see the fireman waving at him to wait as he accelerates. My insurance policy has an out for stupid behavior, I wonder if this guy's policy paid.

According to the NTSB the pilot was excited to get out of there and took off even though you can see the fire department waving for him to wait until they get the cars out of the way.

You guys need to understand, he just went through an emergency landing, his life was in danger. He was probably under a lot of stress and just wacked out after the landing. They should of not let him take off after what he went through. Bad choice on the pilots choice to refuel and attempt a take off. I hope is license wasn't taken away, I'm glad hes O.K.

Hehe yeah, though I think it's a very stupid action of this pilot. He is responsible for the take off and thus responsible for the highway he is going to take off from. He should have checked if everything was clear in my opinion.

Oh well, bad day, luckily he survived.
