Them saying that is like me saying China makes the best burgers, pizza's, hot dogs, and mash potatoes. This is ridiculous, however I could believe this if they said that its the best Chinese food in USA. However, you must understand that Chinese cuisine varies dramatically from region to region in China and most Chinese restaurants in America are of Cantonese origins, however there is Sichuan and such other types of Chinese food that would taste totally different.

@PoliticalGangster in total, china has a lot more good stores, but they are more spread out. on the average, vancouver's restaurant are at a higher level; condensed into one city.

reasons: 1) there is a large market of rich-folk chinese in demand of high quality food. 2) mediocre chefs are weeded out because only the best chefs can immigrate here. 3) abundant of fresh ingredients year round.

i'm from mainland china in case you're wondering.

I am from Hong Kong and sometimes I think that Vancouver has better food than home. I now live in the US and always look forward to the time I can go to Vancouver, mostly for eating.
