  • Why does everyone have this false impression that to use adobe software you need a mac

  • that's awesome!

mind me asking what kind of tablet you use?

  • lol face

  • man, you have SKILLS!

  • Thank you so much. Your teaching me how to draw on my computer!

  • Awesome work, Davin! I don't have illustrator. Can you change pen-line thickness in Photoshop?

  • What a program you used for the start? =D

  • @TheSonntTutorials The start?

  • @DavinDaGeek

    Yes, i mean the intro.

  • @TheSonntTutorials I used animoto to make this intro. Google search the site and you will find it :D

  • @DavinDaGeek

    Oh right.Thanks mate.

  • Very helpful video. I drew a guy with the brush tool but now I can't figure out how to colour him... am I going to have to have to draw blocks of colour like was done at 9:23? D:

  • @starinthesky1 Checkout my adobe AI videos, I have a lot of them explaining how I do that :D

  • I understand Adobe Illustrator and I play around with it. But, honestly, what would you do with the image other then using Adobe Illustrator for? Yeah, I know you can convert to other formats. But then you lose the enlarging ability. The image that I have on my profile was done with Illustrator, then converted into jpg. Adobe Photoshop can do the same except enlarging the image. So, what do you use Illustrator for?

  • @Kuehyn888 Illustrator is all vector, and Photoshop is all Bitmap. Those are the major difference of the two programs. Illustrator is more for cartoonist and designers and Photoshop is more for Photos and photo editing. I use Illustrator for art and drawing.

  • @Kuehyn888 the biggest difference is photoshop uses raster graphics mainly, and illustrator uses vector. The difference being you can take a vector illustration the size of a dime, and enlarge it to fit an entire airplane while keeping the same exact resolution. Raster graphics you can't do that...you lose resolution with even the slightest enlargement. Illustrator for the win!

  • This was a very helpful video. :) Some areas I couldn't figure out are shown here very well. Thank you very very much :)

  • Damn dude. How long did this take to make? :O

  • I don't understand at all how people can draw from imagination like that, he didn't even draw a skeleton behind it or anything.

  • @Jdeadevil Lots of practice and repetition..

  • Good Video

  • when I use the pencil in illustrator cs4, it automatically makes smooth vector lines, how can you use it in a sketchy way like you did?

  • @dromycatcher

Double click pencil tool and uncheck basically everything.

  • Nice man!!! How did u learn to draw like that?? It's amazing!!! I use ps cs5 but I'll definatly start using illustrator

  • Nice!! Where did u learn how to draw like that?? Dude that's amazing!!! I like to use photoshop but I'll definitely start thinking of Usonian illustrator!!

  • I think hes using tablet

  • Hey how do you make the lines of your character (very nicely done by the way) varied widths? I just started using Adobe Illustrator CS3 and the lines that I draw are one unvaried width.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks man, you just helped me with two things I needed to know......Hell yeah its on now...lol

  • how do you stop it highlighting the pencil lines when you draw them?

  • @blazejpietraskondrad double click on the pencil icon and uncheck auto select from the popup menu. Hope this helps. :)

  • cool dude!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sick bro! Thanks

  • LOL U wild the person out with the cartoon lol.

  • nice beats..what is it called? i mean the beat that was played when u started drawing

  • Is it easier to draw in photoshop or illustrator? Please give me some tips on which is better for digital drawings.

  • @Kasen717 It's all down to preference. Someone will find it easier to draw in PS and others will find it easier to draw in AI. I can't answer the question for you, but I can say that I enjoy drawing in AI more than PS.

  • @Kasen717 I cant draw to save my life, but I would say that its for different looks and styles. In illustrator you get more of the vector looking crisp cartoon look. And in photoshop you can do more realistic looking paintings.

  • nice beat. What is it called? nice work btw, great for beginners like me.

  • @0zaliz0 Which beat? I have several in this video.

  • ey man, im currently using a trust widescreen tablet but i dont find it too easy or responsive when working, would you reccomend wacoms as im thinking of buying one?

    thanks!

  • @ElusiveEdits you can change the screen size proportions if it's a wacom tablet, you just need to fix it up in the driver settings.

  • I dont intend to sound or be a racist but, all the black guys i see in videos/movies are bad guys/goons. But you, youre simply awesome. :D

  • @LBHkedy you DONT mean to sound racist??...hmmmm

  • @LBHkedy This is a good point. Hollywood and other movie makers set this stereotype which continues to spread in the actual world.

  • thats a seriouse talent my nigga

  • did u use a drawing pad

  • @Metal5906 yes, I use a wacom bamboofun.

  • the way you use the pencil tool to color in doesn't work for me in cs5 why??

  • @iJvs11 Check my pencil tool video.

  • someone axed you?

  • love the music, and you are amazing!

  • And thats how you do it!

  • I would love to learn more about AI

  • Can the ipad be used as a tablet for flash?

  • @YoungCeas I don't know. you tell me? I don't own an ipad. So I wouldn't know D:

  • did u use mouse or tablet for drawing?

  • what is the song call? :D

  • @vichetmeng which song?

  • @DavinDaGeek I mean, the beat. :D The one that played while draw. :)

  • @vichetmeng It's a beat from a Gorilla zoe song called you know what it is.

  • Brush Tool vs. Pen Tool

How did you make your choice?

  • Great video

  • when im drawing it, it keeps showing the stroke blue line thingy, and it keeps erasing my drawing...i feel dum usinng it

  • @Snoble2009 you have to double click on the tool and uncheck the box that says something like "Auto Select" then you will be fine. =)

  • Brother, as long as I have used Illustrator, I never knew you could use the Pencil Tool like that. Learn something new every day.

    Thanks Brother

  • Can you just draw, or do effects too?

  • does it give effects to pictures you already have?

  • @CodeLance100 I'm not sure what you mean by that =0

  • Wow from

Nothing to an excellent drawing... Excellent

  • @santohang Thank you.

  • thanks for posting all yor awesome how you dos and tutorials. very helpful. =)

  • STEEEEEEEEZ!

  • lol the style of eye you used ( one bigger than the other ) reminds me of uncle ruckus from boondocks haha nice illustration though brother

  • Its funny, this video helped me with pen tool issues better than pen tool tutorials!

  • When drawing is it possible to save the colours I used? If I want to have different types of red, can I save them, close the program and the next time I open they will be there?

  • @Socklessuser Yes, there is actually two ways of doing so, one way is to make a new Ai doc and turn that doc into a color paddle by copying all the colors from what ever you like and then pant them into that doc file, I suggest using little dots of paint so you can have area to add more paint samples. Another way is to copy the numbers above the color when you pick your colors from the color picker, and you can paste the numbers in a text doc for later. I use both methods my self.

  • LOVE THE BEAT BRUH!!!!

  • This is a great video i am seeking a design job and was wondering how to sketch using illustrator...thanks!

  • really good. started my wrk exp. 2day, and using dis software, never used it b4, just learning as i go along and i'm watchin sum of ur videos 2 help me :)

  • how big is ur tablet?

  • @Sucorra It's a small bamboofun.

  • May I know what the beat is called please? :P

  • looks like CJ of san andreas, AMAZING work man !! your talented with the program.

i have a tablet and i dont know the first thing about it haha :P

  • dang! your really good!

  • Sick Beat. Sick Tut. Thanx man. So simple n straight forward.

  • Hmmm... Decent.

  • In the beginning, how did you setup the pencil tool so you can do a rough sketch without having the points show up? Thanks.

  • @DANgerous124 Just double click on the pencil tool, and uncheck auto select.

  • Oh ok. Thanks again!

  • @DavinDaGeek thank you so much, i could not figure out how to do that for the longest time, i was searching everywhere

  • انا اتابع دروسك كل يوم لكي اتعلم. إنك شخص موهوب حقا

  • @SAHARANOMAD1 I'm happy to hear someone likes my videos and are watching them and learning. Thank you my friend.

  • شكرا جزيلا على كل ما تبذله لمساعدة الآخرين

  • شكرا جزيلا على كل جهد تفعله لمساعدة الآخرين

  • @SAHARANOMAD1 No problem. I love helping people. It's something I like to do.

  • Awesome work! I'm trying to learn ways about using illustrator. Even though this was quick it gave me a good idea on how to go with it.

  • @hotsalsaept yeah it's awesome. Once you get the hang of it a little more, you'll be able to do all kind of things with it.

  • why do you use the pencil tool over the paintbrush? Even when when your coloring.

  • Oh I use it sometime to fill in the color with the auto fill, However I do not use the pencil tool to color my cartoons all the time. I use the pen tool most of the time. =)

  • Photoshop vs illustrator, your thoughts and what would you say are the pros/cons. I have ps, but since i really don't retouch photos and stuff, im thinking about illustrator. why would adobe even make an illustrator to me it would make more sense to be included in ps.

  • Oh for me, I like to use illustrator and most artist do to, it's because it is vector and that allows you to scale your artwork to different sizes without blurring up like how bitmap does in photoshop. But yeah, I don't know why they don't put vector in photoshop as well. Adobe does the most dumbest things ever.

  • @DavinDaGeek there is no "paint bucket" type tool to color in within a drawn area? it looked like a complicated way to color it in

  • Oh, yeah there is a paint bucket, however it can be a bit tricky to use it, and I'm coloring on a different layer that's behind my ink layer.

  • I know why... So you have to buy both.LMAO!

  • It would help to have step by step in the beginning, you lost me right away, had no idea what tool your using or how you got there like alot of the comments on this video i too have the disapearing paths..

  • Ohhh, yeah this video wasn't to do a step by step thing. Was just showing how I draw in AI, if you want the step by step way I do then watch this four part video I made. I show you the tools I use and stuff. watch?v=TMj6zKRECvU

and you have too make sure you have your stroke selected. But watch the videos. I do believe I show it in inking part of the videos in the link.

  • dude can u help me man everytime i use the pencil tool i jus want rough sketch something out it when i go to to start a new path it gets rid of my previous work

  • Are you using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, because the pen tool in those to work different. But it sounds like you are hitting one of your points in the path, and that can get rid of another path as well. Or you can check out my video on how to use the pentool.

  • yh dude im using illustrator and yh everytime i hit a path it gets rid of the other 1 anyway i can stop that

  • You have to make sure you are connecting the paths to an empty point on the path, you know the one that isn't colored in, because with the pentool you can't hit the same point in the path, it will take it away. or if you are talking about your stroke, then you would have to block the fill with that white bock that has a red strike going trough it, you can see this feature at the bottom of the fill and stroke. or if you can upload a video and show me the problem ur having.=)

  • u must set outline to color

,it's still there but not visible

  • @Danidanivugs yes, that's it =)

  • Awesome video. Is there a site where I can find Illustrator tutorials?

  • Well here is the site you can find them x3, look up a guy name Tutvid here on youtube, he has tons tutorials on it. and thanks=].

  • great video! :)

  • Thanks. =)

  • Is there anyway to use Illustrator like Corel Draw? I want that i finish all lines and then gave the shape but in Illustrator i gave shape to one but the next or previus line to it take the negative shape of the other one. You know? plz help i want to learn Illustrator cuz i has many effects that corel dont have

  • Sorry, but I don't understand the question you are asking too well? Are you talking about when you paint with the brush tool? or are you using another tool to make your art work and is causing this issue. If so please tell me which tool that is giving you problems. kay =)

  • Thank You for the anserw.

Let me explain better. For example i have made a triangle. Now that i finished the triangle i want that one of the line of triangle to give shape. for example like this ~. You know a triangle with 2 lines straight and one like this ~. But when i give the form like this ~ to one line the other don't stay straight. If you know Corel Draw, there you can draw and each line is not depended from other. I hope i have been clear. Sorry for my poor english. THNX

  • Oh with pen tool. and if the shape is given by another tool please tell me/ I'm 15 i know only corel draw but some works i need to sell should be in AI but the colors go crazy and also the transparent object from corel here looks like are done by pixels.

  • Ohhh, you're having an issue with the pen tool? I did a video on how to work the pen tool not too long ago. you can watch this to see if it helps you. watch?v=_1HwEQlPUNw

or you might have to do everything On a different layer. or you just might have to place another anchor on the line to correct it.go to the pentool and click it then hold it and pick the pen with the plus next to it. the add an anchor to the place you want to edit, the grab your directselect tool and edit the line with it.

  • But if this can't help you, then can you make a video responds or something showing me what you are trying to do. That could help me understand big time 83. thanks.

  • it was helpful. but i already knew that. I am asking if there is anyway to use pen tool like in corel draw. i will upload a video how it is used on corel draw the pen tool. i will notify you when i upload it.

  • Yes sir or maam, I'll be here waiting for you to tell me. And then I can see what the true issue is.

  • its very different from phtoshop is threre a web cite dat can help me

  • Well youtube is the site you can check out. It has a ton of tutorials on this program, I know the user Tutvid has a mess of them. Check him out.

  • people say that illustrator cs4 is to hard or just a stupid program....

but I have it and Im taking classes and everyone say that it is to hard and that paint is better xD

but it work perfectly well for me :d and I love illustrator cs4 ^^ dont know what I would do without it =O

  • Yeah, it seen difficult for some people to wrap their head around the workings in Illustrator sometimes. However it's easier to use than some think. Just take some practice is all. While some people on the other hand picks up on these program faster than others. and yeah, I love this program, it can help save money in times like this.

  • your coo thanks im juzt 15 i need help

  • Thanks. And what do you need help?

  • this is the worst drawing program i have ever see in my life so hard and make you unable to put your feelings in the draw and thus the result is a bad illustrate

  • Oh, lol you just have to take up a class on the program or learn it. It's easier to use than you think x3. I've personal seen people make wonderful master pieces with this program and even more primitive programs than this. It all comes down to how you use it and work with it. and painting on a canvas or paper isn't the only way you can express your feelings in art. you can do it via anything you want. 83 I use this program to help save money on paints and paper. cus I don't have lots of cash.

  • I am using illustrator 10 so what is this one !!! but I thin there is no difference the same stupid way in drawing I just can't understand why they make it like this . its so hard and stupid you can make the same thing using mac.flash and it will be easier !!!

  • Oh,I'm using Adobe Illustrator cs4, and I do agree with you there on how it works. I don't understand why they can't make some of the tools work as easy as the tools in photoshop. They got to have a whole new way of learning Illustrator.and it's confusing like hell. like why can't the filltool work like the filltool in Ps? everything is so confusing when you first start to learn this program, and I'm still learning.they're design team sucks ass. 8C I would have made this program way better.

  • Illustrator is pretty cool, you just have to learn the program. Drawing 3d objects are pretty easy if you learn the Mesh tool.

  • Wow!!! ur well good at this. I find it really hard to use the pencil tool, thats why i stick with the pen tool, but after ive drawn my person, i dont know how i can shade it :( Any advice?

  • Lol thanks, means a lot. and you should use a Wacom tablet to help you when shading. Well I'm sure you do use one already xP. But I found using the pencil tool to shade is much easier and saves time if used correctly, but you would want to add a shade where you think a shadow/shade should be. Like under the chine or on the side of heads, inside of folds, you know stuff like that. The more you practice the better your execution will become.and the easier it will be to do.

  • Dude the music rocks O:

    what program do you use

    is it a MAGIX program?

I have MAGIX Myspace Music Maker and lots of the sounds in the intro is what I have lol XD

  • Yes, I love that program, I like to record my voice with it a lot, I use to use Audacity to record my voice, but it doesn't pick up my new mic for some reason.

    and thanks.

  • That's awesome! =] LOL I never used Illustrator like that before. xD I always used the pen tool for everything, colour, shading, then lines. xD What is the tool you used for the shading?

  • Lol I wouldn't do that, just the way I do things. and I was using the painttool and the penciltool to set to fill mode when I make an enclose area.

  • Oh yeah, and thanks. <3

  • LOL your way looked easier in a way, why i asked. xP But thanks for telling me, I'm trying to learn some of those tools. xP

    & No problem. <3

  • dude you fuckin awsome with photoshop !!!!!

  • Lol thanks man x3.

  • Well first off it isn't that hard but on the other hand it could be, sure any skilled artist could make it, however not any could just make a picture like this. Lol Well I pretty much work for my self and make my own money off my art, so I really don't need to emulate realism or flashiness for a client like most artist. So I stick with a semi basic style.

    and thanks man 8D.
