  • U are the BEST!!!! continue to repair electronich stuFF!!! u have hacker soul!!!!!!

  • AWESOME.

  • handy little girl

  • you owe me a new ds, bitch.

  • @haydes95 listen crefully its not easy.

  • @haydes95 she doesnt owe u anything because if her ds worked, then its not her fault urs didnt

  • @magalchemy shut the fuck up. surely you have more things to do than comment on old posts?

  • @haydes95 actually my ds just broke, and i didnt want to comment on your comment cause u probably had like a ds lite or something, but i was bored

  • I followed this exactly but my ds wont turn on anymore :( whats happened?

  • @abbyAPFEL Does it turn on for a second and then turn off?

  • @Fabulousitist Yeah, the screen flashes and the little green light blinks then it turns off again :(

  • @abbyAPFEL That's because you didn't push the main ribbon connecting the top and bottom half of your ds in far enough. You'll have to reopen it and fix it. :/

  • @Fabulousitist I hope you're right :D thankyou :) is the main ribbon the one with the two little ones underneath?

  • @abbyAPFEL I dont know what your talking about with the two little ones. The main cable is the one that goes from the bottom portion of the ds to the top portion, at least on the ds lite (which i assume hasn't been changed). Search "supermodchips" on youtube and the guy may have some videos that'll help you.

  • @Fabulousitist Nevermind then, i'll try that though, at least its something to go on thankyou :)

  • There's like a million "thats what she said" moments in this video.

  • is this also for a nds light?

  • HEY ALL SUB TO MY ACCOUNT!

  • @MrPokemon0101 just because a bunch of people are commenting to each other doesnt mean theyre gonna suscribe to you

  • why the ssshhhhushhhing like fixsh the shtring.

i don't mean anything bad, it's probably cam isn't it?

  • I can't for the life of me find replacements for those little black clips (the ones that hold the 2 smaller ribbon cables in). If anyone has any ideas, I would be infinitely grateful.

  • I hab that same style DS and I have the same problem so I a=am doing this but I am using your guide.

  • Wow this is like omg! thanks! Do you happen to know how to take apart the top screen?! my lil bro dropped his, and the hing and top screen are broken. Please any idea?!

  • All you need to do is go on System - Touch Screen and then you just recalibrante it o.O

Unless you wanted to replace the screen cause it was broken, scratched, cracked etc.

  • All you need to do is go on System - Touch Screen and then you just recalibrate it o.O

  • Immensely helpful. I'll be following this video closely when repairing my own younger brother's unit. Thank you for putting this together!

  • As you can see, fixing your DS is child's play. Go do it! xD (this comment is in no way intended to be demeaning to the poster - it's a good tutorial for any who are unsure).

Please note that if your screen is terribly scratched, it's THIS screen you want to replace. The only way you can possibly scratch the lower LCD itself is if you either scratch it while trying to do this (you're supposed to be CAREFUL!), or if you SHATTER the touchscreen (something that takes considerable force).

  • where you get the screen

  • @swezir Sche Schaid Ebay

  • you are so awesome - thanks for the great instructions - i was stuck in a few areas and i found your video. perfect!

  • Now i can play again ^^ Tank you so much for the help! =)

  • Where do you buy a touch screen?

  • Thank you,now I know how to do this, all I need now is to buy it

  • what do i do if the tri wing screw gets torn up and i cant get it out? :/

  • caN someone tell me i have take off my nintendo ds lite's cover and my power where we boot the nintendo is not working plz help =/

  • thanks a lot!! you're a really genius!!!!

  • Thank you very much. GIVE THIS GIRL A MEDAL!

  • oh my god that is the exact same ds i have

  • Can you make a complete dismantle video? I need to transfer my DS to a new custom gold casing and put a new touch screen in. I broke the clips on my last DS, broke the top screen ribbion cable worse then it was before I opened it, and blew out a fuse so it did not come on at all.

  • hey

i have a question...i wish you could help me..

my bottom screen is fucked up

    i dont know what happen...

when iam playi;n last night it work well

then this morning when i turn it on

my bottom screen is already color violet!!!!

    what happen???

  • ur HoT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Right, I'm all set. All i need now is a DS to do it on.

  • probably not as sophisticated, but i'm 32 years old and don't have the carpentry expertise as you do, but do you have a video, or can help a disabled young adult replace the connection ribbon from the top screen to the circuitry. ( user-friendly 1st grade instructions needed)

  • FINALLY!!! some1 who makes a good vid!! ;D

  • Guys the screen can be bough on evay for €6 and the screwdriver is €1.50 on there too

  • Triwing screwdriver. Buy online there like impossible to find at stores.

  • Great video, very clear and helpful :)

  • cool

  • @Si3RRADAB3ST Don't flame its annoying when people come here to learn how to fix things and start throwing crude insults that aren't very necessary. If you don't like it go find a new video to watch and leave a good comment, and if you still don't like the video don't insult with ridicules racial slurs its inappropriate. Oh and please spell out your words correctly if you are planning to insult someone. "Gurl-Girl, u-you, no-know, 2-to, and friekin-freakin"

  • make a vid of how to replace ds lite or dsi or dsi xl touch screen cuz no has a ds anymore. also beware everyone this voids ure warranty. but good job smart girl or iq of 150!

  • the tri screwdriver is a philips head very cheap!!!!!

  • your cute :3

  • Okay, so I followed all of the steps, but now my touch screen is completely unresponsive, and the top screen flickers/is dimmer. I double checked the ribbon cables to make sure that they were connected correctly, and they were. I know it's vague, but any help would be appreciated.

  • where do you buy the screens?

  • Great video! I loved!

    Congrats!

  • If you're older, make sure nintendo makes better touch screens :D

  • thx 4 upload cuz i got windex in my touch screen and i was looking how to replace it

  • u sound and look retarded

  • @2002rm85 You are retarded if you say that others 's are retarded

  • you were an awesome help!

    Thanks for uploading this ;)

  • how does replacing the screen re-calibrate the resistive touch screen

  • lol nice tnx and i love how yourmom is reminding u ^---^ cute

  • Wow. So young and already fixing a ds? Very very talented. Im sure your parents must be proud, especially dad =3

  • @ccssneo i think there spoonfeeding her how to replace it you can hear the moms voice sometimes

  • a very helpful tutorial

    thank u very much

  • Hey Guys GO to my channel and comment this tell me where to get a tri wing screwdriver in Hong Kong PLease i rly need 1!!!

  • ebay.

  • Thanks! New touch screen and tools cost me only £2.98 on e-bay, and I fitted it following your video, saved me a lot of money on a new one! Thanks again.

  • help!!!! does anybody know if i can replace not the screen as it is in this video but the other little screen stickin to it. i guess it is called the touchpad i dont know.

i alredy replaced the screen like this video but that was not the problem, i think the problem is the touchpad thing behind it. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What ever

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks so much I had my ds since it came out and now it is completly messed up until I saw your video your the best

    Lucky44312

    lol

  • Hi, when you flip up the touch screen, and be ready to attch the new if something like dust or little rubbish get stuck on this sticky black thing how do you remove it? I guess you shouldn't touch this...

  • lol hindu.. pungub to i can tell

  • You're right!

  • Thanx alot Im going to get the replacement screen off ebay and then repair the screen myself, the dude at the repair shop said it wud be cheaper to get another second hand DS, well ill prove him wrong.

  • my touch screen has scratches all over it

  • thank you SO much! :D Now my ds is fully functional!

  • she think he is a professor :S

  • I love you! GOD it was hard to find this.

  • @zeebugbee u r rank

  • My little girl spilt water on her screen. it still shows images , but touch does not work. Will replace of the screen cure the problem?

  • @yada147258 yes

  • i would say yes. But i'm not sure i want to do this. One heavy hand and you've ruined your DS. I'm kinda wary of taking apart my PSP to clean my joystick because there's a major chance of damaged to the interal components. Unless you have some mechincal skill, i would ask some tech junkie to do this, if nothing else, then for peace of mind.

  • More than likely that would fix it.

  • awesome. But i have a question. Would I be able to switch touch screens between 2 ds?

  • If you go to deal extreme you can get a triwing for 85 cents free shiping

  • thank you,very much!!

  • Weew! Nice work.

    Thank you for the domonstration!

That helped me a lot ^-^

  • This is such a good demonstration!

    ~5 STARS~

(P.S. Helped out a bunch!) Thanks!

  • Wow! Thanks so much. You are such a clever girl! I followed your instructions and was able to fix my daughter's DS with no problems. She's only 5 years old, otherwise, I would have had her give it a try herself. It's so refreshing to see another girl who is into technology too. I'm a mother working on my degree in computer science and my daughter loves computers too. Hopefully she will be fixing things like you one day too. I'll bet your mom is really proud of you! Thanks again and well done!!

  • ......

  • This is awesome. Thanks alot, I am in the exact situation. Ordered a screen from Hong Kong and now installing it. This is great to see before hand. Thanks again.

  • Just replaced the screen in my daughter's DS thanks to your video!

    Very helpful vid!

  • Well done! Proved extremely helpful when repairing my daugher's NDS.

  • thank you. but where can i purchase touch screen?

  • teh interwebs.. try dealsextreme

    beware,they have questionable shipping habits

  • I love it when girls are interested to technology and science and not just make-up, clothes and boys bands... that was great!

  • how much was the touch screen? and does this work for ds lite?!

  • That colour ds is going for like $275 on ebay right now...

  • I have the same problem as Sakurakero79 but the top screen is funny colours as well any advice :/ I tried pushing the cables in as far as i could but I dont think they went in far enough ... it looks as though the bottom and top screen have merged

  • very smart girl. btw she taught me this and lol ive done it on i think 27 original nintendo ds's

  • when i do this, it will be the third time ive taken it out, rgg, the hinge on mine keeps on braking, so i need to replace that for the second time, and also this time, i will replace the screen because i kinda used a tooth pick when i was younger and scratched the screen so bad that the centre wont calabrate at all! so thanks dannimichigan, i know know that i can replace the screen.

  • i have a problem with my ds

the first time i did it, it would just turn off

so i fixed the ribbon cables

now the ds turns on and the top screen works right and the bottom screen can touch stuff

but the screen is just white except when i push a button and a weird blur of colors appear and then it turns white again

    can you tell what's wrong?

    thanks!

  • Thanks, solved my problem. Good Job!

  • what screwdriver size do you need to unscrew the non-triwing screws?

  • I just have a set of (inexpensive) jeweler's screwdrivers-- I don't know what size they are.

  • @sakurakero79 i have no idea ive been looking and theres nowhere that they have it

  • Hah, I just did this a couple of days ago :P

  • Man, it really bruises my ego when a kid half my age on youtube not only tells me how to do something, but in a concise tutorial where they obviously know what they're talking about.

    Fricken generation z

  • Okay, so he's getting help from an adult, but still, this kid is smart.

  • its a girl :|

  • she >.>

  • Just brilliant - thanks so much!

  • thanks alot...helped me out a lot....now i just have to find a video of how to replace the case/shell

  • So cute.

  • Also if anyone has just recentley sent in there original DS to nintendo pm me please

  • I NEED HELP!!!! Ok so I did everything right I think and put everything back together but, now my ds wont go on. The light blinks sorta green/orange and then it shuts off. The screens dont go on either. I need help :(

  • It sounds like it's running through the self-check at start up and then shutting off when it finds a fault. There's been some discussion about this here, so go through the comments. The other thing to check is all of your connections, because my guess is either a wire or a ribbon cable has come loose.

  • Yeah I think I'll just send it into Nintendo. The really bad thing is it doesn't have a warranty anymore

  • you need to really push the cables in, i did'nt and i had the same problem as you

  • @IaTeBrEaKfEsT you should redo it to make sure that you didn't do anything wrong

  • @IaTeBrEaKfEsT

    u gotta huge prombem

  • @IaTeBrEaKfEsT u damaged ur motherboard dude

  • @IaTeBrEaKfEsT check that the screens are connected properly

  • @IaTeBrEaKfEsT just in case no one ever gave you an answer. make sure the little power strip from the touch screen is all the way in and the latch fully closed. i had the same problem before. this should make it work unless something else got loose in the process

  • welp.... I screwed up ma DS

back to ma game boy -.-

screw the shoulder buttons there so hard to put in :(

  • you so handy O.o i think i cant do that even with this tutorial...

  • "SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" Every word that she says that begins with the letter S or ends with it

  • Will this method fix my screen? When I calibrate it, it is off in the top right and bottom left parts of the screen. More so in the top left.

I am also worried about the risk involved. How easy would it be to break the DS completely using this method?

    Awesome vid, 5 stars.

  • I think as long as you're careful and reconnect all those ribbons well there's almost no risk. But if you break one of the ribbon cables or something then you have to get another new screen but it looks like a pretty easy "surgery" for DS

  • Thanks for the video tutorial, I replaced my sister's touchscreen and it works perfectly, so she can now play without borowing my DS everytime. :)

  • And now you're her hero! Thanks for sharing.

  • ....

  • she so yunge

  • whats with the shh sounds

  • you messed up preact nds

  • you messed up saying anything

  • how much dose it cost to get it fixed by a a gaming person

  • 100£ 200$!!!!!!

  • the last were omfg

  • lol 9:08

  • OMFG!

    you are very cute. lol.

  • your actually susposed to remove the shoulder buttons AFTER you remove the motherboard(the giant circuit board thing)

  • shit, i incidentally pulled off the last thing keeping the screen down, i am going to see if i can solder it

  • Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I just finished replacing the touch screen in my DS :)

    You rock!

  • I already knew that... but thanks for the help any way!

    Rating 5 out of 5!

  • Thank you so much for this video. I tried to sell my DS but the man wouldn't give me a good price because the screen was so messed up. He told me I couldn't replace the screen that they didn't make that part. Then I see you do it and I tried it myself and it worked! Brand new screen for under $5!

  • That is so cool! Yeah, you can buy almost any part for them on ebay. Congratulations on the successful outcome!

  • ure awesome!

  • is this the same for the ds lite if you want to replace the touch screen

  • Thank you SO much for this video! I just replaced my son's touch screen with ease because you posted this. :)

  • Congratulations! I'm so pleased whenever someone is able to fix theirs and not throw it away!

  • ...

  • im 14 so? Im not thinking that shes hot as the first thing to come into my mind......

  • so thats it all i need is a touche screen forchunatly for me my friend broke his ds but not the touche screen

  • hi, ive done all the above and my ds wont turn on. power comes on then goes off straight away. anyone got any ideas????

  • I think it is running a self-check at start-up and then it shuts off when it detects something is wrong. The first thing I would try is to open it up and check all the connections because my guess is something is loose.

  • I think you have a blown fuse, see tinyurl[dot]com/dsblownfuse for more info.

  • does anybody know if this holds tru to the lite?

  • No, the DS Lite repair is different.

  • WOW!!! Im older and I bet I couldn't do that in a million years! Very good! Very Very good, and organized. Excellent!!!

  • Thanks! you're a life saver (Literally!) my mum doesn't know I've broken my screen you see and the DS brand new! If she finds out, I'm dead meat! anyway thanks I'll get to work as soon as my mum's off to work :D

  • that is wonderful , i like the person who depend on his self in fixing stuff , not smash the games device <_<

    you so cute ^^

maybe you will be a electronics engineer, i hope ^^

  • nice and organized

  • Grats, at your age doing this, is impressive

  • is it the same with nintendo ds lite ?

  • hey, first of all congrats for the video, very professionally done :)

Just a question, do you think a screen replacement might fix a calibration problem?

I'm still quite fond of my 1st gen DS and I don't really want to buy a new one |:

    thanks, and congrats again!

  • coool i wish i had that ds color in lite...

i just have the red and black one...

its cool but this one is way more cooler...

    great

  • I usually hate it when kids do reviews and tutorials, especially ones with high voices, but i was completely impressed with this! you handled it efficiently and carefully, showing how to do everything. This really helped with taking apart my ds! I even charged my friend to replace his :D

    Thanks! Great video!

  • That's quite a complement, thank you!

  • i ripped the ds sreen and it does not work

  • cool! hehe~ some suggestion thou. maybe you want to edit the title to something like "DS take apart" or "Disassembling DS". It might lead to more viewers~ this video helps a lot thou!

  • I think if a connection was loose or a ribbon cable not pushed in far enough, it wouldn't power up. But since it powers up I wonder if the touchscreen is a bad one. This happened to me the first time I replaced the touchscreen. I confirmed it by putting the old one back. Fortunately the seller sent me another one right away after I contacted him.

  • I just had my DS case replaced and while the unit powers up and is operational, the touchscreen is not working at all. any thoughts?

  • WOW!! this kid could be a technician someday!!! GO kiddo!!! lol

  • I've been thinking about this and I'm not sure what to suggest to clean it. I'd probably start with damp cloth or lens cleaner.
