  • Who the fuck can dislike this!!??

  • holy shit. by far the best live version I've heard

  • perfect

  • goosebumps..

  • THE MOST BEAUTIFULL EMOTION SICKNESS LIVE

  • I really wish I could have seen this performance live...

  • LOVE the guitar part starting at 08:35

  • @eatingcandy LOL. It's called a Solo, and it used to be a common thing in music pre 1997ish..

  • @Fieldy8243 NO WAY D:

  • Comment removed

  • @Fieldy8243 never heard of it but thank you

  • omg what a great performance

    amazing band ...

silverchair one of the most talentfull bands of all time

  • Comment removed

  • out of this planet! brilliant!

  • MASTERPIECE! Performed by the master himself..

  • I've never seen a more boring and lack of emotion bass player than I have seen on this performance. Really takes away some of the passion presented by the signer and the song itself with his display.

  • amazing, how else can you explain it?

  • amazing intro!

  • He is truly a maestro! He knows what he is doing where most people don't know what he is doing or what he is after and say the same damn typical response! "omg! i hate this pop stuff! play tomorrow!" Silverchair is constantly growing and I will keep following them every step of the way. Mark my words! Been a fan since the Innocent Criminals days.

  • Truly a masterpiece!

2 people must have accidentally hit the dislike button

  • 4:28 - 4:41 never heared a longer scream!

  • daniel johns...the best

  • It's once in a decade, that appears someone that can compose, play and sing perfect songs like this. He doesn't need to prove anything to no one anymore. Truely a God of music, brilliant. Remembers me of Jeff Buckley in so many ways!

  • 7:45-8:00 is one of the best sounding guitar parts.

  • Without a doubt the best performance from the show.

  • I know a similar performance but it can find it here. Daniel screens a little more, play less and the result is awesome..

  • Hauntingly beautiful.

  • perfect!

  • Incredible!!!

  • this is the song that has made me like music o_o

Neon ballroom was my first cd ever, when this kicked in, i felt in love ç_ç

  • Love love love. I love how on this album there is a mix of classical and rock you don't often hear.

  • Thats why I think he partly doesn't like playing the old stuff... they were simple chord guitar playing riffs.. good, but boring I would guess... You watch his shit now and he always changes up the songs and guitar and it sounds great... Like when he uses the effect machine on the stage to alter the guitar... awesome.. He should play his old songs for the fans.,, but change them up a bit to make it fun or something.. This and Ana's Song sound better different live than on cd... that right!

  • @sorrow1678 the only song from the first album they play anymore is israels son

  • @DyingSID666 Makes sense, as it's far and away the best song on that album. Not that the rest is bad per se, but I'm always blown away to think the boys wrote a song of the calibre of Israel's Son when they were only around 14 yrs old!

  • @LantaGem when I first heard it thought it was from freakshow, but I was amazed when I found out it was from frogstomp,

  • This and the Sao Paulo live versions are the best by far!! His voice is aweome at this time and His guitar playing is soooo much better than the mid - late 90"s..

  • FUCKING GREAT PERFORMANCE! THE BEST EVER! Puta que paril uma das melhores performances dessa música ao vivo , linda demais!

  • they got such an amazing sound on this recording. I love it !

  • love this tune

  • SILVERCHAIR FOR EVER

    Colombia

  • awesome singer and great performance from a highly underrated band

  • @steelundergrounder gaddamn epic, its a very long performance in just a single song but you wont hit the "stop" button you just cant help but keep listening to it until the end

  • @steelundergrounder 100% agree, solid comment!!! Cheers :)

  • kick ass song , too bad it speaks the truth about all of of using drugs . it does not matter . we are all all just

  • Their performance in Sao Paolo for this song (also about 10 minutes long), is the best one! He actually reaches a voice higher than Michael Jackson's.

  • =P

    es open B

  • I like the beats...

    -H-

  • YA! The keyboardist at the beginning is from my province! Check his shirt!

  • wtf he totally fucks up the best part of the song.. :( get up wont you stop my pain..

  • why he fucks up-.-? he did it with full awesomness

  • si pes no es tan dificil.... ojala algun dia y vengan a Perú

  • Saludos Paisano/a desde CT, Estados

    Unidos

    -H-

  • Great intro and song

  • My favorite performance of this song!

  • manifique

  • i remember my friend teaching me how to play this in a weird tuning on guitar..... i forgot it...... truly amazing song writing.

  • I LOVE this intro.

  • Brilliant.... just brilliant. It is like pure magic. He is without a doubt my favorite musician of all times. And this song is his opus.

  • Sao Paulo is a close second. But I think this is the most brilliant performance of Emotion Sickness.

  • Excellent performance.

  • This performance is only amazing the whole album neon ballroom is unbelievable he have a brilliant voice.

  • HSC here I come

  • =p i performed it for hsc.. unfortunately there was no piano sheet music or anything for a band to learn the supporting stuff with, so i just did it solo acoustic... was still good tho i never found out what my mark was

  • The whole live at Newcastle is awesome.

WIsh I could have been there live!

  • whhooaa.. awesome!!daniel write compose arrnge this song at neon ballroom era he just 19/20..can u imagine that!!genious..

  • Hypnotic!

  • 10 minutes of complete brilliance. I can't get enough of it.

  • i like it untill the chorus lol

  • boo shame on you!

be there live and maybe you'll get it.. >.>

it really is a beautiful song.

  • I just realized the other day that the piano intro at the beginning is being played by Julian Hamilton from the Presets and Dissociatives.!!!

  • This is my favorite performance of the song after São Paulo Brazil.

  • awesome track and performance.

    very Muse-like.

i love when a band do ''extended'' versions of their best tracks in live shows.

    that's definitely their best song.

  • perfect band.....silverchair forever...

  • it's simply stunning!

guys, why are u fighting here?

  • i like only the intro part..

  • What are you, gay?

  • what? fuck u, want to suck my dick? ill give it to for free

  • Any time I get on youtube, I always look this video up and watch it numerous times before I do anything else. I love the intro. It is hauntingly beautiful.

  • Perfct Song...

  • I have that same pedal he uses at 5:35, its bad ass! I do the same shit in show when I play live with my band, usually gets the crowd hyped up. If your a guitar player and dont own this pedal you should get it, its great for live performances! Its a boss digital delay dd-3.

  • lol same, its sick

along with the digitech whammy of course

  • so fucking epic!

  • This song is fucking amazing.

One of the bests from the 90's

  • "OMFG SO GAY.". God I hate stupid people.

Fucking amazing performance in my personal opinion.

  • anyone know the whereabouts of sweep?

  • maybe on that battleship Daniel and Paul Mac had for the Dissociatives record?

  • i'm speechless

most amazing performance i've ever seen

  • i know! speechless is the most describing word for this performance! but i actually think the sao paulo version is better..

  • i think the melbourne 1999 version is the best one personally... most emotionally intensive and you can hear the pain in his voice

  • Couldn't agree more, I <3 that version

  • if listening to these performances doesnt give you shivers, your not human.

  • And gayness has so much to do with it why?

  • nah.. you are just gay.

  • it's just your problem i dont care

  • Amazing song and performance. Silverchair is fucking awesome.

  • i was at work but then i had to stop working and just listen. what an amazing climax at the end of this song. i almost cried

  • Is that David Helfgott on piano?

    What a gun.

Fantastic song, inspiring and makes me proud to be an Australian.

  • no. david helfgott wrote the piano part on the cd. hes like 80 years old

  • Oh ok thanks, whose this?

  • Luchilenium, The piano player is Julian Hamilton... :-)

  • thankyou.

  • This version is almost spiritual!

  • Thats what i was thinking! Simply incredible, an experience!

  • 9:58 - end. A masterpiece of music that will never be matched.

  • hay otras versiones buenas de este tema : rock in rio III (the best performance of ES): Melbourne 99 (great performance)

  • best version of the best song ive ever heard.

  • watch the Sao Paulo and the YM Launch versions....

  • A real artist!!!!!Very Good!!!!

  • This is the second best IMHO. Sao Paulo 2003 even better!

  • IMO this is the best performance of this song. Second place would go to the YM launch.

  • wats IMO

  • awsome please tour again

  • fuck me running that is the pentacle of amazing!

  • Heyy can anyone tell me what effect daniel uses at around 5:48...it gradually shifts the pitch when he twists the nob. any input would be greatly appreciated!

    cheers

    P.S

Daniel John, Ben Gilles and Chris Joannou are all musical geniuses (especially danial)

  • its either an equalizer and an octave pedal

  • delay

  • sorry i was actually wrong, believe it or not it a delay pedal(boss dd3)

  • Daniel Johns can be one of the best composers and rock musicians nowadays, actually i think he is. His melodic lines are marvelous!. But he hasn't a great voice. He has the voice needed to do it well.. not so far.

  • dont agree.

    watch 'without you' @ newcastle

  • this is unbelievable, silverchair is easily one of the best bands ever

  • I swear that silverchair does not get enough credit, especially daniel johns. Its just sad to see all the criticisms for the way they have headed with their new album. You people dont realise how much of a genius Daniel Johns is.

  • Agreed 110%

  • I'll double that!! Chair is amazing

  • Great I Just Cant Belive How Fucking Awsome Daniel Johns Voice is The Best Singer Ever

I Love This Song Especcially Live

    SILVERCHAIR 4EVA

  • Is voice is a bit scratchy although I don't think it is due to his Eating Disorder. It is a miracle he is still alive and kicking today. Purging is very serious and it screws up much more than your throat. Truthfully I think it's just age. I do miss his old voice though...but I love seeing him the way he is right now. Full of energy and all. I am also happy that he is still playing their old songs up on stage because some bands don't do that.

  • thats so amazing

  • amzaing...

  • boner

  • what?

  • modern prog before muse

  • sexiest "get up"s I've heard though lol

  • anyone with half a brain for good music must be able to see that this song and performance is just pure genius.

  • I second that

  • whew, daniel is the GOd!

  • fucking epic

  • i've always like this song but now i'm getting addicted to

  • 1:41-1:44 Is it just me or does that smoke/fog look like it's coming out of Ben's hat haha?

  • its just you

  • haha nah its not

  • great version, but i agree w/those who said sao paolo is better. hands down.

  • I agree, good performance but Soa Paolo, was just amazing.

  • Unbelievable. Magic. Rock. The solo at 3:15 is absolutely powerful!

  • wow I like this version a lot!

  • He looks much better now than back in the days !

    x

  • what are you talking about?

  • Wow, talk about being completely flippant and disrespectful to a serious medical condition.

  • WOW!!!!!!

  • its true that daniel has an outfit for every album. green blazer for young modern, this is the diorama one. :)

  • heh, it's ecological :)

  • great

  • This song is a fuckin masterpiece.Yeah it rock´s. Daniel Johns is God.Magical.....
