amazing video....i hate how people get so caught up in arguements about whether or not we are to be over there that they forget about the sacrifices made every day by everyone in the armed forces.....again amazing video

@devin5555 I want to agree with you and popemoblie ..."why can't Canada show respect to their own?... we show respect to our brothers and sisters on our videos. Let them have theirs too.

a good way to pay triute to Canadian troops in afghan is reading "Fifteen Days" by Christie Blatchford & "Outside the Wire" edited by Kevin Patterson and Jane Warren, listen to the stories from people who have experienced it and honour them in your own way
For Everyone posting comments on my tribute video:
Do NOT post argumentative comments about whether we should of shouldn't be in Afghanistan. I created this video to remember the fallen soldiers and provide a tribute to the job that members of the CF do everyday when they put their uniforms on and are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country, So please refrain from making those type of comments. Thanks!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
60 children killed in NATO bombings this weekend. A spokesman for the Afghan government said in response: "The patience of the Afghan people has run out. We no longer can afford to see the killing of our children." In other words, Canada's days in Afghanistan are numbered.
"relative peace" so you were there? it was peaceful? the population of afghanistan was happy to have the taliban in power with no education system except mujahideen brainwashing schools and 1 computer in the entire country, ya im sure they were ecstatic. you are a fucking retard. this is not an invasion asswipe. btw Canada hasn't bombed anyone- you talk about research and you make a comment like that? and whomever said opium production was at zero obviously was never in the country. wake up.
Thank you for your video/slide show. All of the negative comments. so sad. I lost 2 of my men 03Aug06 & I still grieve the loss. Only soldiers who were in the shit know what it's like, even then only soldiers who engaged and destroyed the enemy can truly understand what pain, fear and remember what the smell of burnt flesh was like. Frankly the rest of you just aren't qualified. Peace
morinite, thank you for your service to our country. I strongly believe in supporting our troops. I agree with you when you said only soldiers who were in the shit know what's it's like. I have a great respect for our men and women serving at home and abroad. I had tried to join but due to medical reasons could not. God Bless Canada! God Bless our brave men and women! Freedom does not come free! Cheers
your a little shit opimistsRus u don't no shit more people died from the taliban the now and the taliban r still killing people even if u don't supptort the mission support your troopes just think if was your brother
Tribute for what? Helping USA invade a sovereign country and then bomb innocent civilians? Even if the Canadians didn't kill any civilians, they're definitely helping in the deaths of civilians.
Not fair! We are there because of you Americans (your government)! YOUR CIA, aided and trained the Mujahideen which in part gave rise to the Taliban. The Soviets and the Taliban killed millions. This, unlike your presence in your 51st State (Iraq), is a U.N. requested-by-Afghanistan police action. Of course there's lots of opium around now and uranium, oil, gold, strategic location...
You are saying pretty much the same thing I'm saying, it's just that I'm blaming Canadians for making the wrong choices, acting as the 51st State themselves. Americans made a big mistake when they left Afghanistan on their own after the fall of Russia, fighting continued for several years and finally a group of fighters called took control over major area. Americans were negotiating with Taliban on the oil pipeline until 2000 and when the negotiations failed they attacked Afghanistan.
This whole Middle Eastern thing sucks - big time. I am getting tired of seeing our guys come home in caskets - as I'm sure are the Americans, Poles, Danes, British, etc.
If the govenrment officials who order the soldiers into battle had to do the fighting - there would never be any war.
You shouldn't put your political veiws on a TRIBUTE video this video is here to remember those lost it is not a debate platform no tribute video is a debate platform you're showing disrespect for those soldiers who gave their lives for you and showing any disrespect to a soldier is putting a bad impression on you
We're not in Iraq you wing nut we're in afghanistan and no they don't really pose a threat to us their taliban pose a threat to their civilians and their way of life soldiers die defending the civilians who can't defend themselves, if you can't see that well then don't open your mouth at all and get the hell off tribute videos which are here to remember those lost not a freaking Debate or Political Platform your discraceful comments arn't needed here. find a video that is political or debatable.
I served in The Big A for the US. I served with the Canadians in Kandahar. Thanks for saving my butt that one day outside of KAF. We were hit with an IED and we were blocked on both ends of a bridge. Canadians saw this and helped us evac our wounded. Thanks again.
-the Canadian army NEEDS combat training to remain the world's premiere peacekeeper.
-Chretien, while Prime Minister of Canada entangled our troops to relieve pressure from the U.S. war-makers regarding Iraq.
-once again the Yanks and Brits let us have the firefight hot seat.
Lets put an end to it all and let Afghanistan compete with New Zealand to be the world's leading exporter of opium for the pharmaceutical industry's narcotics - the war is over.
Do you know that opium production was almost zero during the rule of Taliban? CNN, Fox & co. won't tell you that, but you'll find UN reports and some other news reports on it (it's hardly ever mentioned by the mainstream media)
I heard that... I also heard that Afghanistan's ceasation of opium production caused a worldwide shortage of heroin and a loss of over $600 million dollars to the world economy. Some believe that this was the main reason for the U.S. and other interest groups to get rid of this CIA trained and aided group of henious monsters: the Taliban.
hopefully our government supplies our troops with the best possible equipment, buying used equipment is not right, we should leading edge weapons, Jim
dieing is one thing but dieing for a better world is somthing to die for. RIP to the people who have died in war, I will be in the army and I will fight for freedom and the people who have lost their lives.
Watching your video I was amazed at how many whose stories I knew. I am glad you posted the padres on the job, too. I know those guys and gals best, and they feel deeply for their people, too. Thanks.
22September2007 A WHOLE YEAR LATER AND THE KILLINGS CONTINUE UNABATED ON BOTH SIDES!!
NATO must stop indiscriminate killings of Afghan Peasants and BUY THEIR CROPS at TOP farm gate prices. The farm gate price of all the opium is estimated at about $4 Billion yet the NATO allies are pouring in $30 BILLION/YEAR and no sign of improvement!!
"NATO needs to 'step up' in Afghanistan, says MacKay after U.S. talks."
Hey 1982 cool off man...you call it proud to get killed for some turbin headed Afghan who are poor and hungry, and have nothing in common with us Canadians?
I know why so called multi nationals (only 5 countries!) are in Afghanistan?!But Since you are so ignorant, I am not going to tell you the reason.have a good one.
Can someone explain to me (Why Canada is in Afghanistan??)What is there for Canada? and why some politician are puting the lives of our troops in danger?...As a canadian sitizen I would rather my tax money spend in a positive way than killing and getting killed.
i've only one word for u my man and that word is proud. Proud to serve their country to protect the peace in canada so if u want to be in the same shit as in afghanistan it's ur choice. I'm in the canadian forces to serve my country and proud to be in.
Canada is in Afghanistan becasue it is a NATO mission. There are also more than 5 countries in Afghanistan, perhaps only 5 seeing direct combat...If Canada were to pull out of Afghanistan, Canada should be kicked out of NATO
"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who gives us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who gives us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under it, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag."
This tribute is very personal to me. For although I have never served in the Canadian Forces, I come from a long line of military men and as a result feel a distant kinship with soldiers. Additionally, Master Corporal Timothy Wilson came from my city of Grande Prairie, while one of the Canadians killed on April 8, 2007 was a cousin of my roommate. In some way we are all touched.
The least we, as citizens, can do is say "Thank you" in our own humble way for the sacrifices made on our behalf.
Canadians have always volunteered to go into harms way in the various wars (WWI & II, Korea, Vietnam, etc), even when their country has not been behind them.
Shut the fuck up man it's no time for politic but for compasion theses grunts were only doing their job that's all and for christs sake stop talkshiting while u haven't been into the suck and that goes for all of u. God damn i know the guy in this video at exactly 2min 17 seconds.Patrick Waren the name.one of my childhood friend's going there in august and maybe the paths i'l choose will conduct me there so plz, it's no time for arguing but its time for rememberance.
Some may disagree with the war some may agree with the rebuild. Even though we disagree I believe we should support our brother in arms. They fight because we as a country asked them to. We voted our government into power and they called upon us to carry out their mission. I am proud to be a Canadian, the horrors my dad has told me strengthens my resolve to be a better citizen, and more responsible. "I may disagree with you but I will die for your freedom to voice it"
i am in the british army working acide the candains they doin a great job.. every day we are ambushed by the taliban and mange to fight and normaly defeet. they are doing a great job and serving there countrey well
I pray everyday that all out troops come home safely. You are wonderful people! You don't receive near enough praise for all you do!Canada thankfully, has never been attacked, and I pray we never will be. But it is very comforting knowing that you are there for us,you ARE the BEST IN THE WORLD!!
Thank you Canada. As a former member of the Bundeswehr (which German is not...) I am really ashamed that the socialists in my country do not want us to help out in the south. I think they confuse the NATO mission with the Blitzkrieg... . How can they let our friends and allies down like that. We are in the north, but that is kinda quiet. Now they sent 10 recon fighters. Wow.
I entered the CF with a childhood friend and he's leaving for kandahar in august 2k7 hope he wont be apart of this video ver.1.5...sigh Alex love u man thank u guys and plz! Don't respect theses guys more than other soldiers cuz they're canadians! Go on and post great comments on other tribute to other soldiers, american, british, german and all the others. Thank you boyz!
Good Job on the Tribute. I LOVED it...We don't need to support our Government..and most don't..Put the Men and Women of the Canadian Armed Forces are doing A job that needs to be done and I Salute them every one.. THANK YOU CANADA
God bless our troops! Soldier's risk their lives with the best intentions to help make this world a better place for all of us, so be God like and let them know how much you appreciate their courage and their sacrifices, because rather than rank with those poor spirits that neither suffer much nor enjoy much, they dare mighty things in the face of grave danger attempting to win glorious triumph for our country, and for all of man kind. My sincere thanks to all of you! Reveen the Impossiblist.
very nice video, I'm 15 right now and im going to be joining the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve with my 2 buddies... We've already talked it over with out parents
The ones we have lost — the faces — the same faces that stare out of the photos from Normandy, Dieppe and so many other places. It's inspiring and it's so terribley sad. They were so young and they were the best. You can see it in the faces. I hope that no Canadian is taking these lives for granted, regardless of the politics and contraversy.
excellent video..makes me proud to be a Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corpreal. some good friends of mine have just gone over from CFB Gagetown N.B. Good luck and god speed to the men and women of the 2 Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment on task Force 107.HOY!!!!
Just as an addition. Abuses against Afghan detanees are being investigated. I can't say I'm really surprised. Yes, we sure did sort out everything after the Somalia disgrace. Nope, we still have the same mentally challenged frat boys out in desert running around with guns.
You have to be the biggest loser, I have heard on U-tube. Fuck off and go and live in Somalia or Afganistan. You are a waste of air. War's are not simple, Respect what you have. It all come from fighting, one way or another. God Bless all Allied Troop's.
There are some whose own ignorance will prevent them from comprehending your words. There are some truths they will sadly never understand despite your best efforts. What little they see outside their own small world is perceived as no consequence to them and thus, they cannot appreciate it. Only the selfless will understand things such as, "If one must die, die for something greater than thy self. Better yet, live, and serve it." But kudos to you (and others) for your efforts.
Hey, very nice vid man. I was really impressed... for our troops they are doing a great thing over there, killing off the tali-ban to give the afghan people a chance at a fair life, instead of the religious fanatics that once ruled their. When the tali-ban were in charge they didn't allow any female to speak in public...they didn't want to educate them and finally...they helped al-qeada to launch the 911 attack.
hey FMAACK you are a retard. i would love for you to tell me to go fuck myself to my face. i would absolutley love it. just another uneducated moron that thinks he is king shit of his little world, truth is your little world aint worth shit if it werent for dudes like those that died in the name of peace and this country
I have a BA in political science and I would gladly tell you and your fascist friends to go fuck off. No one is dying or fucking killing in my fucking name. This is simplistic rhetoric. I've gladly marched heroically against this fucking war even when assholes like you were parading around like Nazis wrapped in the flag.
The Taliban refuse to let women get educated and are attacking the schools and the students that are trying to. BABY KILLERS? Well, mabye they should not have there babies in harms way. Unless it's a female baby of course, then they use them as shields. Taliban wouold sacrifice a female to make the allies look bad.
I'm all for getting rid of "baby killers" but don't send in the fucking worst baby killers of them all. NATO has massacred many innocent lives. The Canadians are even guilty of some pretty disgusting crimes against humanity in Somalia. Does everyone have a convenient lapse of memory? Nothing has changed. These are the same brain-dead sociopaths who quite happily massacred innocent women and children in Somalia.
Fmaack: (pt 1) My first thought was to slam your rather crude attempt at belittling those whose sacrifice allows you the freedom to say what you please in the comfort of your own little world. Then, on reflection, I personally feel a quote from John Stuart Mill is appropriate: ...
I really do not want anyone to sacrifice themselves for my "freedom". If they want to go get killed in Afghanistan that's fine and it's their choice but they are not doing it in my name and not doing it for "my freedom". My freedom has nothing to do with terrorist NATO fighting terrorists the Americans created.
(pt 2) ..."War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded sense of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse... A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares about more than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself....
(pt 3) ...As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other." ...
(pt 4) ...As for "I've gladly marched heroically against this fucking war"... Who was threatening you so, that you perceived yourself as a hero? Did someone attempt to kill you for your stand? Did you suffer some injustice for you beliefs? Has your family come to harm over your convictions?
Nah... I thought not. Why do you think that is? If you can handle the truth, look to the men & women you so lamely call "brain dead" for an answer.
I don't think the troops are heroic. Ignorant and naive perhaps but not heroic. Going to die in a foreign war for a lost cause that has nothing to do with freedom but everything to do with corporate profits is ignorant.
Fmaack: An argument about corporate profits may be compelling when it comes to the conflict in Iraq (oil). At the present time however, we are discussing Afghanistan, and the Canadian soldiers who toil there. Yes, toil against some whom the Americans supported during a different world (but I don't suppose you would remember life under the constant threat of an east/west conflict).
If you look at the Project for a New American century there is a clear link between Afghanistan, Iraq and every other country the US decides to invade. The plans to invade Afghanistan were around long before 9/11. Afghanistan has more to do with building a pipe-line and the US securing authority across the middle east. They did the same thing in Latin America in the 20th century. If this were about human rights the US should invade Saudi Arabia.
Freedom... What a wonderful word. I wonder what freedom means to you if it does not mean freedom from fear, freedom from hate, and the freedom to dream and speak openly.
These are some of the many freedoms we take for granted here in Canada. I wonder how many Afghan women lived in freedom under the same people (the Taliban) that Canada now confronts over there?
Are you more valuable as a human in Canada than a human in Afghanistan? Shouldn't we as a nation stand against wrong whether it's here or there? Tell me, if you can't pay tribute, as this video does, to those who have the courage to go into harms way to protect those ideals, what will you pay tribute to?
WHat does corporate profits have to do with Afganistan? The americans may have been deceptive, but that does not mean that the Taliban are not evil women abusing bastards. Nato was just looking for an excuse to take them out. I am usually anti-war, especially when it comes to Iraq, but the Taliban... frig em. I hope they die soon.
I too hate those desert-dwelling, oil-obsessed, women-oppressors, but enough about Texans. There are no clear 'good guys' and 'bad guys'. If you think there are then you've seen too many movies. I dislike the Taliban as well but the same war-lords are in power who were in power when the Taliban were. Look at the national assembly and the same people are in charge. The ones by coincidence the US armed in the early 80s. The Northern Alliance by the way are also guilty of many human rights abuses.
I know all about Somalia. It was a disgrace. It was the airborne division. The govt. shut down the division and punished those responsible. Do not blame all Canadian soldiers for that. Please get your head out of your arse.
From A current member of the CF I would like to thank everyone who stands behind us and supports us while we make sacrifices so that our children and your children can live the life they deserve and to everyone who doesnt support us my personal opinion is..move somewhere else if you dont approve of the freedom and safety we try and maintain for everyone we can.
I would like to say thanks Jarlaxl16 for your video, it's great to know that people do support our troops and will remember their sacrifice in trying to help the people of Afghanistan obtain freedom. My husband leaves for Afghanistan in FEB, and I am comforted by the fact that not everyone feels the way idiots like fmaack feel. Having the support of worthy Canadians makes it so much better. Thanks again.
Fuck Fascism and fuck our troops. I feel no sympathy for these brain-dead morons who get off on shooting and killing civilians. This isn't about freedom and it isn't about honour. This about Canada trying to reap some rewards from another imperial Amerikkkan misadventure. Fuck the troops. Get out of Afghanistan now. You are not doing any of this in my name. This is embarrassing for the whole country.
Fred, Please SHUT the HELL UP! Our mission in Afganistan is non-usa related. This excellent tribute video is for TROOP HONOUR, HONOUR something you know nothing about. Save your bashing for ignorant FORUMS! To JARLAXL16, CHEERS..for a great tribute video. :)
I wish you could understand the commitment felt by people like myself before you write comments. If you understood the feeling of having friends die for something they, and not necessarily you believe in, maybe you'd understand the video.
One question and i realy want an answer have you ever lost a loved one to war i am embaresed for the whole country since somone would disrespect our troops like this Patriotisim has died because of people like you
fuck you Fmaack. how dare you insult the Canadian troops and you are Canadian too! you have absoluteltly no respect for any of the troops in Afganistan and most likely have no respect for the troops from WW1 and WW2.
No one NEVER could win Afghanistan. Its another world! another philosophy, neglecting to death! To kill an infidel is a feat, which leads right to paradise! I wich to all soldies engaged in operations in Afghanistan to come back home alive! God save all of them! Keep them from bullets! And give the strengths to the families of fallen! Your lives is the dearest to your families!
To Toiletpaper 2ply, or was it Zorro3ply..Please shut the hell up! We are not overtaking the country, we are FREEING IT!! If you don't like it, then why the hell did you leave? Why don't you get off your diaper, pick up a gun and fight over there, you spineless, sniveling, pathetic P.O.S.
I must ask you not to make this comment area into a political science discussion. I created this video to remember and support Canadians in Afghanistan, not to incite an argument about politics. Thanks again for all your support.
My Friend and my Uncles student for soccer has to go back in 2 weeks, to Iraq, Sgt. Timothy B. Dermeister. Just talked with him, and he said he's been back for 6 months.
That was a great video, good work....my brothers r both in Canadian forces, one already back from serving in Afghanistan where he nearly lost his best friend to a suicide bomb attack...seeing this video makes me proud to be Canadian, not that i'm not already proud...:D
I'm an Afghan-Canadian and proud of our troops in Afghanistan. I never liked the Americans nor the British in Afghanistan. They let our army in one of the dangerous plains of Afghanistan to fight the Taliban and found more secure places to stage their own troops. God bless them as we are from one Man and Woman - Adam and Eve (peace be upon them both)
I as a human will say one thing that the famous afghan poet and philosof has said once ; Dont know on the door of people , you wont be kicked back ;. when Canadian people come for fight in afghanistan so they will kicked back.
You are Knob head and clearly suck cock you cunt, try fighting out there your self you hippy gay fucking dick weasel. From a British soldier who likes Canadians & humans but not vermin like you. MUGGING LITTLE CUNT
I am a former Corporal who served proudly with the Canadian Forces as an armoured crewman.
I am proud of my brothers and sisters in arms, serving in Afghanistan. You're doing a great job and may God Bless and Keep you safe from any harm that the enemy may wish to bring upon you.
Thank you for this video...O Canada!!!

Tribute for what? Helping USA invade a sovereign country and then bomb innocent civilians? Even if the Canadians didn't kill any civilians, they're definitely helping in the deaths of civilians.
optimistsRUS 4 years ago
BjorkBjorn 4 years ago
You are saying pretty much the same thing I'm saying, it's just that I'm blaming Canadians for making the wrong choices, acting as the 51st State themselves. Americans made a big mistake when they left Afghanistan on their own after the fall of Russia, fighting continued for several years and finally a group of fighters called took control over major area. Americans were negotiating with Taliban on the oil pipeline until 2000 and when the negotiations failed they attacked Afghanistan.
optimistsRUS 4 years ago
This whole Middle Eastern thing sucks - big time. I am getting tired of seeing our guys come home in caskets - as I'm sure are the Americans, Poles, Danes, British, etc.
If the govenrment officials who order the soldiers into battle had to do the fighting - there would never be any war.
Peace! Altruism! Truth! Humanity!
Hey!... a new acronym: PATH!

You shouldn't put your political veiws on a TRIBUTE video this video is here to remember those lost it is not a debate platform no tribute video is a debate platform you're showing disrespect for those soldiers who gave their lives for you and showing any disrespect to a soldier is putting a bad impression on you
TashaRules 4 years ago
This war is based on a lie, these soldiers didn't die to save Americans or Canadians, Iraq posed no threat to Americas!
optimistsRUS 4 years ago

Thanks again.
enshala123 4 years ago
OK, let's put aside the fact that:
-the Canadian army NEEDS combat training to remain the world's premiere peacekeeper.
-Chretien, while Prime Minister of Canada entangled our troops to relieve pressure from the U.S. war-makers regarding Iraq.
-once again the Yanks and Brits let us have the firefight hot seat.
Lets put an end to it all and let Afghanistan compete with New Zealand to be the world's leading exporter of opium for the pharmaceutical industry's narcotics - the war is over.
BjorkBjorn 4 years ago
Do you know that opium production was almost zero during the rule of Taliban? CNN, Fox & co. won't tell you that, but you'll find UN reports and some other news reports on it (it's hardly ever mentioned by the mainstream media)
optimistsRUS 4 years ago
I heard that... I also heard that Afghanistan's ceasation of opium production caused a worldwide shortage of heroin and a loss of over $600 million dollars to the world economy. Some believe that this was the main reason for the U.S. and other interest groups to get rid of this CIA trained and aided group of henious monsters: the Taliban.

VPmedic,
There are some whose own ignorance will prevent them from comprehending your words. There are some truths they will sadly never understand despite your best efforts. What little they see outside their own small world is perceived as no consequence to them and thus, they cannot appreciate it. Only the selfless will understand things such as, "If one must die, die for something greater than thy self. Better yet, live, and serve it." But kudos to you (and others) for your efforts.
sayno2bugs 5 years ago
Hey, very nice vid man. I was really impressed... for our troops they are doing a great thing over there, killing off the tali-ban to give the afghan people a chance at a fair life, instead of the religious fanatics that once ruled their. When the tali-ban were in charge they didn't allow any female to speak in public...they didn't want to educate them and finally...they helped al-qeada to launch the 911 attack.

Fmaack 5 years ago
The Taliban refuse to let women get educated and are attacking the schools and the students that are trying to. BABY KILLERS? Well, mabye they should not have there babies in harms way. Unless it's a female baby of course, then they use them as shields. Taliban wouold sacrifice a female to make the allies look bad.
Poseidon500 5 years ago
I'm all for getting rid of "baby killers" but don't send in the fucking worst baby killers of them all. NATO has massacred many innocent lives. The Canadians are even guilty of some pretty disgusting crimes against humanity in Somalia. Does everyone have a convenient lapse of memory? Nothing has changed. These are the same brain-dead sociopaths who quite happily massacred innocent women and children in Somalia.
Fmaack 5 years ago
Fmaack: (pt 1) My first thought was to slam your rather crude attempt at belittling those whose sacrifice allows you the freedom to say what you please in the comfort of your own little world. Then, on reflection, I personally feel a quote from John Stuart Mill is appropriate: ...
VPmedic 5 years ago
I really do not want anyone to sacrifice themselves for my "freedom". If they want to go get killed in Afghanistan that's fine and it's their choice but they are not doing it in my name and not doing it for "my freedom". My freedom has nothing to do with terrorist NATO fighting terrorists the Americans created.
Fmaack 5 years ago
(pt 2) ..."War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded sense of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse... A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares about more than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself....
VPmedic 5 years ago
(pt 3) ...As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other." ...
VPmedic 5 years ago
(pt 4) ...As for "I've gladly marched heroically against this fucking war"... Who was threatening you so, that you perceived yourself as a hero? Did someone attempt to kill you for your stand? Did you suffer some injustice for you beliefs? Has your family come to harm over your convictions?
Nah... I thought not. Why do you think that is? If you can handle the truth, look to the men & women you so lamely call "brain dead" for an answer.
VPmedic 5 years ago
I don't think the troops are heroic. Ignorant and naive perhaps but not heroic. Going to die in a foreign war for a lost cause that has nothing to do with freedom but everything to do with corporate profits is ignorant.
Fmaack 5 years ago
Fmaack: An argument about corporate profits may be compelling when it comes to the conflict in Iraq (oil). At the present time however, we are discussing Afghanistan, and the Canadian soldiers who toil there. Yes, toil against some whom the Americans supported during a different world (but I don't suppose you would remember life under the constant threat of an east/west conflict).
VPmedic 5 years ago
If you look at the Project for a New American century there is a clear link between Afghanistan, Iraq and every other country the US decides to invade. The plans to invade Afghanistan were around long before 9/11. Afghanistan has more to do with building a pipe-line and the US securing authority across the middle east. They did the same thing in Latin America in the 20th century. If this were about human rights the US should invade Saudi Arabia.
Fmaack 5 years ago
VPmedic 5 years ago
Are you more valuable as a human in Canada than a human in Afghanistan? Shouldn't we as a nation stand against wrong whether it's here or there? Tell me, if you can't pay tribute, as this video does, to those who have the courage to go into harms way to protect those ideals, what will you pay tribute to?
VPmedic 5 years ago
Go Canada, alway's with you.
razd73 5 years ago
WHat does corporate profits have to do with Afganistan? The americans may have been deceptive, but that does not mean that the Taliban are not evil women abusing bastards. Nato was just looking for an excuse to take them out. I am usually anti-war, especially when it comes to Iraq, but the Taliban... frig em. I hope they die soon.
Poseidon500 5 years ago
I too hate those desert-dwelling, oil-obsessed, women-oppressors, but enough about Texans. There are no clear 'good guys' and 'bad guys'. If you think there are then you've seen too many movies. I dislike the Taliban as well but the same war-lords are in power who were in power when the Taliban were. Look at the national assembly and the same people are in charge. The ones by coincidence the US armed in the early 80s. The Northern Alliance by the way are also guilty of many human rights abuses.
