  • Couldn't say really. The guy who built the car also built the motor so it wouldn't have cost a lot in labour, just parts. Decent motors can run anywhere between 4-10k depending on quality and what peripherals you have on it, ie wether it runs an IDA or 4 barrell etc

  • @evlrna Did the powersteer work? If so where was the pump mounted?

  • @inkman1097 No powersteering on mine.

  • hey mate, how much did you spend roughly on just the engine?

  • cool

  • Hey man i own this car now, just wondering what gearbox is in it?

  • Its black now aye? Is it still in Auckland? Its got a series 2 rx7 gearbox with a 12a turbo clutch unless theyve changed it. Cheers.

  • Yeah black now, yep still in auckland, clutch is quite heavy not sure wheather its been changed, just had 2 basically replace the whole driveline, (diff, hanger bearing, universal etc) think the last guy that had it was pretty hard on it, the hanger bearing housing snapped and the mazda universal on the driveshaft was about to fall apart, all the needle rollers in the had fallen out and the whole driveshaft was slapping around in the gearbox tunnel.

  • Is there a write-up on how to perform the swap like that, i.e. driveshaft, tunnel modes, etc. ?

I am hoping to do the same to my 02' .

  • No there isnt. Its not a straight forward swap, bit involved in doing it. And will be different again on an 02. I dont know why youd underpower an 02 bmw with a 12a though.

  • Why underpowered? 12a bridgy will be a beast comparing to modest 150hp 2.0l M10 that would set me back $5k to build. There's quite a bit of weight reduction with a rotary making an 02 pretty much a 2002lbs.

All the weight's in the cast iron block......

  • hey man you no how meany kz it dun wen you sold it!!!thankz it will help me out myt own it

  • Nah cant remember to be honest.

  • Whats with all the chrome?

  • Whats with your videos showing your boring stock 318i? Stick to your 1.8l of fury, this is probably a bit much for you.

  • LOL Way to take that the wrong way, it was a legit question. Sorry i dont like to ruin classic cars. And if your going to modify it at-least improve it,but no just stick stick a cannon on it and some chrome anywhere possible. You had a nice car and you fucked it up. Good work

  • Sticking a cannon on it and some chrome? You do realise this is not the factory motor, its a 12a bridgeport rotary engine? Im not sure you understand that there is a hell of a lot more modified than just the exhaust on this. Not to mention this was much faster than it was with a 2.5 in it. You can be assured of that.

  • Did i say anything about the engine? I am sure it flys like a mutha fucka. I am talking about the looks of the car. Honestly an E30 doesnt need the chrome wheels or the cannon, its a fucking nice car as it is. The chrome in my opinion ruins the classic look. That being said, i like that you have an E30 and its a 4 door ftw!. You should show a vid revving it. I am interested to hear it.

  • swap you my ke30 bro 12a full cut bp centre plates fully cut bridged too

  • I don't own the car anymore, I dont know why the new owner linked to this video. Who knows how the engine runs now. He's also asking a bit much, its tidy but Its not worth the buy now he's asking.

  • what a fucking muppet they're only fucking rims, and they suit the car,so why not?

the video of your 318i pffffft is a $500 car

  • You sound like a ricer...

  • yea a ricer thats right, a ricer that owns a bagged e500 mercedes on bags and a old school rotor hrmmm ok kido

  • beautiful job tom. why did u go carby instead of EFI and turbo ?

  • probly on a tighter budget? or just wanted to be able to tune it easliy enough urself wich u cant really do when its efi. wich would be more reliable tho

  • It was built as a turbo block, could have easily been turboed, as these blocks run carby turbo, just decided to keep it n/a

  • fuck the turbo man pulsing n/a bridgys are way better .....efi ? or ida? the only tunning that really needs doing on a injected engine is the timing thats why efi stands for electronic fuel injection run of the electronic control unit...
